But we likely won't be able to play our home game against them next month coz they have shut their borders to us over 16 cases. Good luck Perth

Haha!! Like McGowan will have borders open to people coming in from outside WA from overseas!! Maybe this is a tactic to try and get the win over Japan. It will be a Western Australia-based Australian side against whatever Japanese nationals are currently residing in WA.

It will be a Western Australia-based Australian side against whatever Japanese nationals are currently residing in WA. Unlike other Australian states WA tends to follow its own planning rather than those of NSW politicians. McGowan announced in November that the state would open up when the vaccination rate hit 90%. This is currently projected to be reached on 21 January 2022 - Well before the Japan WCQ.

Would be massive to get a big crowd at an A League game. They could even make it a double header, get the equivalent ALW game as well. Massive opportunity for the APL to ride on the Socceroo's backs.

Don't think they can do this, I think there are rules around WC qualifiers that would prevent it.

I was thinking there are other pitches available in Melbourne to do it. May not be though, I'm not a Melbournian.

For me this is our best team right now.
Ryan Atkinson Sainsbury Degenek Elder Jeggo Dougall Mcgree Rogic Hrustic Boyle
mcgree and hrustic aren’t your typical wingers but with atkinson and elder they can bomb on and add the width. Rogic can stay further forward to play with boyle and jeggo and dougall can steady the ship at the back.
As for subs, obviously mooy could come into the game for either Rogic or the two holders depending on how the game is going. Then you have Irvine/mabil/arzani as well to come in for one of mcgree or hrustic. Up top you cold drag one of the wingers and put boyle there and bring on one of maclaren, taggart or juric.

Yeah pretty bang on. I find the defensive midfielders real engines and they're in form. They both get passes forward quickly in transition then stand back to cover. I wish Irvine could emulate his club form. Mooy is good value now with his strong club form.

Deserves a start ?!
The whole team should be built around him.
Easily our best player imo, in fact our best since viduka / kewell and in career best form atm.

+xRogic deserves a start. His recent club form has been terrific. He does well in the SPL but his track record in the Roos has been been one of regular turnovers and disappearing when faced with with well organised defences.

Next squad should be
Ryan, Vukovic, Maynard-Brewer
Atkinson, Sainsbury, Degenek, Susnjar, A Grant, Elder
Hrustic, Rogic, Mooy, Luongo, Irvine, McGree, Dougall, Devlin, Jeggo
Leckie, Ruka, Boyle, Taggart, Arzani
Due to the conditions especially in Oman, we need plenty of midfielders. Leckie is lucky to be there and he can cover at right back as can Dougall. Hell, McGree played left back in the Championship and went alright so I'd rather take the risk and then have Devlin or Jeggo playing among the back two as extra cover if Elder couldn't start. It's worth having more versatile types. Nabbout won't emulate the decent club form but I fear he'll be picked. Susnjar has performed well for Macarthur and deserves a recall. Not too sure how much Alex Grant would regress but he'd be handy to have as a reserve.

Juric is a tough one. Feel like he needs Roos exposure, looked very handy at Sibenik but hasn't shown a lot since recently getting fit. Behich is in good form, and Girusunspor have a good defensive record so I'd still have him. Starting XI is a big headache with Rogic,Mooy, Hrustic, McGree all looking good. Borrello also good in recent games although he got dragged this past weekend. Arzani has looked excellent. Is Curtis Good in form? CB depth is dodgy, Degenek on the bench, Grant out of season.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

How far down would you all rank someone like Dan Hall? would he be a loss if he ends up getting capped for Fiji?

+xHow far down would you all rank someone like Dan Hall? would he be a loss if he ends up getting capped for Fiji? He's not a bad player & still only relatively young, but we've got Sainsbury, Souttar, Degenek, Deng, Stensness, Good, Tongyik, Rowles & a few younger more promising CBs in Europe & A League, that are ahead of him. So yeah, in my opinion, wouldn't be a massive loss.

This is a fallacy regarding Rogic and the national team.. go back and watch the 3 world cup games. Rogic was quiet against france but then against Denmark and Peru he was outstanding. Easily our best player across those 2 games. Also in the confeds cup the yr before he was probably our best in the game against Germany. In a friendly against Columbia in 2014 one of Ange's first games he was otustanding also, regularly skinning his marker.

+xHow far down would you all rank someone like Dan Hall? would he be a loss if he ends up getting capped for Fiji? The kid looks a great ball playing prospect, we dont have many ball playing types like that so you never know. Would like to see what he could do in the Olyroos set up first.

Can't believe Connor Metcalf isn't even in the mix for the squad. Our best midfielder at the Olympics and head and shoulders above McGree.

+xHow far down would you all rank someone like Dan Hall? would he be a loss if he ends up getting capped for Fiji? If the kid was set on representing Fiji thats all well and good, but if he is absolutely serious about his football he'll be doing all he can to play consistently and give himself the best opportunity to represent Australia. Both Rowles and Hall have been excellent at the back for CCM. Be interesting to see if RT is slotted straight back into the eleven when he has recovered.
