I had a great evening 👍

Were you at the game live?

The atmosphere seemed good on TV.

Must admit I was amazed at how few wore masks?

I attended the Fish  Ashes Test In Hobart on each of the three days. Nearly everybody  wore  masks.

Haven't seen any of the game as I wasn't home and it's still not up on paramount or 10play. Pathetic. Not even some highlights.

On Asia website they gave Mooy the lowest score for the socceroos which is 6.6, Irvine 6.9 (2nd lowest). Highest is Rogic 8 8

This, absolute BS, had work tonight so made sure I didn't look at any social media all night, get home after midnight expecting to be able to watch the full game 'live', absolutely no sign of a full match replay or mini match on paramount / 10 play, managed to find 5 minute highlights on the socceroos website, this is an utter joke, same thing happens every week with a-league games.

Not sure what Leckie offers above Tillio other than physicallity which is not something we're lacking vs Vietnam.

Agree with Rogic and Leckie evaluation. Although I  don't think Leckie has ever had a Golden Age as a forward winger, in terms of goal predating instincts.  I think Leckie should have played his career as a RB and Wing Back.

Disagree on Mooy though, whose distribution and composure was welcome tonight, even if he struggled off the ball at times when  turning and chasing.

I'd love to look at a replay, but I thought Sains was solid tonight, even though being part of an occasional malfunctioning defensive unit, that lost its shape at times. A few years ago, when  Sains wasn't  playing much at club level  in 2017, I thought he was really  struggling for the Socceroos, but now he looks close to what he was at his peak in the 2015 Asian Cup.

The best spell Leckie has ever had for the roos was at the very end of Ange's tenure when we switched to a 352 and Leckie played as a RWB. Was very very good at bringing the ball from one end of the field to the other with his pace, strength and stamina and has decent crossing ability too. Was our best player during these games. He has next to know creative ability, close control, 1st touch. Cannot interplay with other forwards. He also looked good in the 2014 world when receiving the ball deep in our own half (we sat very deep as a team in that cup) and again bringing it from one end of the field to the other.   Time to ditch leckie for Boyle, Hrustic, Mabil, Tilio, Arzani and Ikon when he comes back. Much more technical players. Perhaps try Leckie at Rb

So with the Saudi win, it makes this even tougher.
Say we win in the next, and japan wins.

Saudi 19
Japan 18
AUSTRALIA 17

If they draw, and we Win.

Saudi 20
AUS    17
Japan 16

It means the game vs Japan is ridiculously crucial.Saudis may drop point vs China bit its not very likely.

The Saudi win tonight is a massive boost for them. Had it been a draw it would've been very interesting beating Oman and then seeing the Japan Saudi result. Japan have Vietnam final day.

It's more likely we draw with Oman and Japan win against Saudi. S:19 J:18 A:15. See ya. It's the hope that kills you. If anything China can play for fun and may surprise but the previous window was so wasteful.

One has to look at the football credentials of those making the appraisals.

Often they don't analysis what they do off the ball.

I hope I can  view a replay on Youtube.

No actually the score is pretty fair for all the players.  He was very poor in 2nd half..I ve recorded and watched it again.  When they pressed him hard or when no space he would lose the ball, just like Japanese game he was awful.  Because he was too slow the Viet coach saw this and picked on him. He was our liability in 2nd half and even 1st half when he got time and space his vision wasn't great either.

Look at McGree's goal. Very happy for him but you're not scoring that against anyone at half decent level. The space he not only gets but once he takes a touch that bobbles the ball up he's not shut down at all. But good for the confidence!

Goodwin, lovely goal.

Awesome turnout from the Vietnamese - what fantastic fans, would've loved for them to score. It's like they don't play with goals in vietnam. Every time they get near the box it's like the ball is a hand grenade

Yep drawing points at China has to be our biggest implosion in some time. So so bitter about it.

Let's hope Saudi can jag a result against Japan. However I doubt it. Goes without saying we have to beat Oman.

That happens, and a win against Japan will be enough.

That's the easiest scenario but there are others.

How do you give mat ryan a 9?

he had one save to make and only saved it because the ball was hit straight at him. It's not his fault but 9 is ludicrous for not having to do anything

Japan vs Saudi will be crucial with what happens in the last 2 games.

Beating Oman is a must, cant afford to slip up in any other way.

it was sad watching leckie last night, what could of been. If he could of converted to a wingback he would be in a top 5 league. Still got some pace and great defensively.

Its simple we need to win all our remaining matches... if we do we make it... if we don't we come third and given we Asia needs to play the fifth South American team we don't make it... well not this team anyway...

Is it all Arnolds fault.... he can only play with the squad he has... IMO he made two massive errors in teh Japan game in the last 10 to 15 minutes when they were obviously the better side he kept instructing us to go for a win  not a draw... if we had drawn we would be three points in front of Japan with a much better goal difference... the second error was the match plan against SA...

Having said this with the finances FFA had at the time...Arnold given the salary being offered arguably a good choice...

I don't feel good about making it this time...

I missed the game because of work but the score line is very pleasing.

Also great to see Goodwin and McGree score their first international goals, two players who I feel should really be playing a lot more for the NT.

As others have said above we need 9 points to guarantee a top 2 finish and 7 points will most likely be enough if we get all 3 points against Japan.

We are almost past the point of relying on results of games against the bottom 3 and the only possible bonus is if Saudi are already qualified on the final matchday it possibly means we are more likely to get 1 or 3 points on the last match day against a rotated Saudi team if we are still chasing direct qualification.

A 0-0 or 1-1 draw between Japan and Saudi would be helpful, but we must get the 3 points away to Oman.
