+xI'm looking through a list of players that Japan have to pick from.. holy shit that's a good playing pool. One of the better ones in world football i'd say. People always talk about on here how our playing pool has regressed since the socceroos beat them in 2006 but truthfully they have improved more than we have regressed i'd say. Currently they can pick an 11 that meets our 'Golden Gen standard' of top 5 league/ CL club as per..
They have a good variety of ages too, Nagatomo has played at the highest level has so much experience. Most in their peak age 23-27 and few youngsters chucked in.

Just thinking about our squad further. I literally can't believe in a huge squad of 27 players, we have only 2 centre backs that have previously been capped. That completely defies all logic in 2 such crucial games against strong opposition.

That completely defies all logic in 2 such crucial games against strong opposition. We've got quite a few experienced centre backs too. Spiranovic is still only 33, surprised he hasn't been brought back into the fold, top drawer defender. Rhys Williams also, Curtis Good, Wilko, Ryan McGowan, Matt Jurman, Bailey Wright. That's a lot of experience.

Judging by celtic’s Twitter it seems Rogic isn’t travelling for the Japan or Saudi game. Haven’t seen anything ‘official’ but celtic’s Twitter page put an article up of every player playing international games and Rogic wasn’t one of them.

Rogic is no massive loss. Just hurts more cause we have nobody else.
Like the guy, but he's never really stepped up for Aus unless it's teams like Nepal.
Daggers is playing a lot better than MacLaren - who imo is useless against anyone above a-league level.

Amongst all the injuries, omissions and doom and gloom, not too bad a starting 11. Personally would shore up the midfield and throw in Stensness or Metcalfe with Dougall, put Boyle on the wing and throw Atkinson at RB instead of Karacic. Having Fornaroli isolated, he can hold up play and bring others into the attack.

I'd swap daggers for mabil - the guy was incredible against Kobe, is full of confidence and mabil just loses the ball all the time, put boyle where Mabil is and Daggers with Fornoroli
