But the APL won't let it happen.

Doesn't   the   FA   have   the  power   to   enforce  P&R?  Isn't   there   a   clause   in  the  licences ?

There might be a theoretical power, but I'd say in all reality, it's current day power is minimal.
Clubs are in control, in particular, a handful of big clubs are in control.
No one should be hanging out for hope that those clubs have even the slightest interest in implementing an open football pyramid.

These attendances are pathetic.   Well the APL wanted to run the league themselves  ( and wanted all of the money ).    Well you have the league now guys,  doing a great fucking job thus far,  can't blame the FA anymore.  :hehe:

LFC. - 14 Apr 2022 10:05 AM

There is no doubt that covid, particularly omicron, has had a significant impact on average attendance at the league this season.  The uncertainty when the season would start, the decision to cram the league into a shorter time frame and the cancellation of games due to government decisions, players getting covid etc meant an unprecedented number of games scheduled for midweek and a number of games played with restricted attendance.  The result has been an average attendance at weekend games of 6000, midweek games 3000 and a combined average attendance of 5200.

Looking at both AFL and NRL attendances so far this season they both have returned to normal so the huge effect covid had on their previous seasons appears to be a thing of the past.  The A-League, however, doesn't appear to have picked up as the season has moved into the more favourable conditions.  Some of this may be because lowering of attendances as the season moves post Christmas is normal for the A-League and some of it may be a general disappointment with the APL and the league.

To get a proper understanding of how the A-League is going re attendance we will have to wait until we get a season with a normal start and few interruptions.  Hopefully that will be next season. One positive for next season might be Sydney FC moving in to the new SFS from the start of the season.  Not qualifying for the World Cup might be another.

you bring up some fair counter points Gyfox.
Covid/lock downs/infections etc have been a stubling block for the APL in their 1st season agree mind you lets all not forget the "crowds" were way way down and declining pre covid for some 5seasons.
The APL/Paramount knew this and it would have been most important having their live feed app working 110% spot on to at least provide their customer good perfect viewing and operations. At the same time have their KEEPUP site operating spot on also.
If there's one thing you got to have right is your elecronic media in this day and age - huge set back going to market.

Great attendance figures for both Phoenix games back in NZ after so long, there is no doubting their commitment to football.

I rarely visit this utterly pointless part of the forum, my current visit only confirms my view that it is there for those who find pleasure in continually whinging.

Attendances over the long weekend
Friday 22nd April
Macarthur vs Victory - 3188
Saturday 23rd April
Newcastle vs Central Coast - 6202
Sunday 24th April
Wellington vs Western Sydney - 15245
Adelaide vs Perth - 7387
Monday 25 April
Brisbane vs Victory - 7127

All home teams had attendances above their season average heading into the finals.
I'd imagine that the APL would like Wellington to perform well enough to earn a home finals spot.

fapping over the crowd figures for some......
It was a LONG Weekend guys - your bar must be low.
The SCG Anzac NRL game on Monday got 35k of 48k capacity.
Thats a 2 State strong only game.

The NZ figure thankfully good to see BUT they have been starved and closed off for 2bloody years you'd expect crowd at full capacity.

I'm only pointing it out for what it was, in numerical terms.
And of course it's rubbish, not to mention that it has taken until the end of the season for this to occur.

Wellington crowds have been pretty good since they were able to return home.
Most long-standing crowds have been regularly getting crowds in that 6k to 9k range,  Victory generally more.
Under current circumstances, you'd have to accept that as a pass mark.
