+x+x+xUnlucky to lose that game. A few of those young guys should play first grade soon. Who impressed you? Stats wise dropped balls seemed to be our problem. On paper the Bears had better and more experienced forwards, some with NRL experience. Any of our forwards that matched them did well. Credence Toia was awesome at fullback. We should lock him up. Great speed and reads the game well. Kiraz looked great and Allamoti carries the ball strongly. But both need to improve defensively.
All the young forwards had a dig but looked tired quickly. Our fitness levels in reserves looked as bad as firsts. I also like Casey, size, speed, skill and brains, handles most positions in the backline.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSouths v Manly sin bin definately, send off, probably the wrong call. At least Des will be in a good mood in the presser. Tackle as dangerous as it gets. All his own doing, no shared responsibility. Happy with the send off Yes agreed. Lifted beyond horizontal, held on at all stages even though he could have pulled out, and worst of all drove him into ground and lifted his legs for extra oumph. As textbook spear tackle as you can get. Fortunately Murray overturned and twisted to his side to avoid direct neck compression. Could have been much worse. Send off every day of week. Agreed. Spear tackle that has been outlawed for many years. Could have broken his neck. Definitely send off.
But I don’t think there was intent. It was a classic lifting tackle and a near perfect one. Just unfortunately Murray flipped too far. This brings up a point. Personal foul versus a foul that affects the flow of the game. Could the player be punished but the team and the game not be ruined. Just a thought, open to opinions/suggestions. The problem has always been the fear of bringing on a rookie to take out the oppositions best player. No team does this now because they are fearful of having one less player on the field. If they change the rule and allow that player to be replaced it opens up the opportunity to do so. There needs to be sanctions of course, but is there an intermediate step. I’m sure there is. But I fail to see it It doesn't seem to be a problem in AFL.

I'll say it again. What's the point of six again on the first tackle. Dumbest rule ever invented.

The Roosters sure get a lot of leniency in the tackle

Becoming a typical start. Early lead, dominate play. But then...
Let's see if this week we can hold on. I sadly no longer get excited by early leads.

And just like that, all the hard work of the first half undone. Now watch the Roosters crack on in the second half, just like the Broncos did and run away with it.
So hard to be a Doggies supporter these days.

Great to win but I'm still absolutely disguisted with the team. If it wasn't for the disallowed try, I'd be calling for Barrett's head. Even now I still think someone has to be held responsible. They clearly don't have the fitness and/or mental strength to hold out games and it's only by luck that we got away with it.

Barrett should book an eye test for the ref.

Barrett should book an eye test for the ref. No questions the ref nearly screwed us as well, but our inability to hold out leads is becoming a consistent problem. The try conceded just before half-time and then letting them come back in the second half (atrocious ref decisions notwithstanding) are clear examples of an ongoing pattern.

How did they pass the obstruction on Burton? Clear obstruction. Must’ve known they had him on the sideline for the drama.
FMD.

Just got to attack off our line in tough games with less one out play - it nearly cost us. Just got to play some width footy to get off our line and then we are right- a confidence thing and I don't buy a fitness thing at all - the way they tore up field after that last Burton kick says it all.
and a win despite Okunbor in the team - geez Nadan Burns Allen and Coz way ahead of him- Shoupp never to be dropped again

The way the video ref stopped talking for a long time before clearing any obstruction. I assumed Nick ‘the prick’ Politis stepped into the box with a suitcase full of cash.
I honestly don’t knii oh w if it’s worth having touch judges these days. They missed everything. Even cost our reserve grade the game by not seeing a foot on the line.
It’s a hard job being a ref. But a touch judge just needs to watch the line and keep an eye on general play. They were all terrible today.

Schoup was great. We need more players like him and Pangai. The guys willing to do anything to win. That Terry Lamb mentality.

Dogs beating the Roosters, Eels down 15-0 at halftime, natural order has been restored to the footy universe.

As much as the win was great and takes some pressure off, we still play like busted arses. Standing start runs from 20m backline passes. It's so clunky, so disorganised and so frustrating to watch. Even reserve grade plays better.
