I hate the show "The Voice" with a passion. Main reason is they seem to all go on and caterwaul. Kind of like a supposed singing version of Darryl Eastlake....even though a loved Darryl. There were 4 finalists and I saw the 30 second add which showed all of them. 3 out of the 4 went the way of the zero to 60 in 2 seconds approach and the other, a young bloke with a kind of Frank Zappa style actually sang in a normal and slightly unusual voice. I was surprised that he won. So what do I see today, one of the the other contestants claims his win was racist as he was white and she was an Islander.I even hate this awful show a little more now. This bloated bint doesn't even appear to be challenged by the network promoting the show.

Don't resign before you get the gig.

Dman and I are prepared to do the hard yards, drinking beer and standing guard.

During bye weeks we might visit Villi in jail, depending on what is on Netflix.

The last game against the Dragons was some of the best attack in the last 5 years had a couple of passes stuck we might have had another try or 2.

I think that is the best Flanno has ever played for us.

The error rate was low.

Defence needs to improve and short kicking game.

Belmore and the fan support seemed to lift the energy in attack, we need to keep that while working on the rest.

We might be able to jag a few wins and avoid the spoon.

The  2022 Dogs would probably beat any dogs side from 2018-2021.

A higher calorie version of Lord Saccharine.

Actually we decided we dont need a fullback at all.

13 players, all in the line. Wingers drip back to cover the 5th tackle kicks. Centres run the escort

Best news I heard on NRL360 is JMK moving to Dolphins next year.

I say we act like we are upset and either drop him to reserves like we did with Dufty or sack him in disgust!

The bad news I heard on 360 is Wakeham being suspended for 4 rounds for blatant eye gouge on Sloan in reserve grade game. Having watched it, he's lucky he only got 4 weeks.

The stupidity is that Potter would probably consider dumping Flanno, but Wakeham has just kept Flanno in the 7 jersey...

I recon Allan will get a call up.

I should have given up when the club ignored my Tolman to fullback suggestion.

Shame about Wakeham he was just starting to get his act together.

Flanno was better last game, even Thurston would look ordinary passing to  Wardell, but Flanno always seems to too deep and pass too early, or too shallow. He was running on to passes and sometimes players were running onto his passes, an improvement, as was going right.

For a halfback he doesn't kick the ball well or often.

But if we have dropped Duffty that is the right call, overdue IMO.

Kurtis Morrin named in the NRL squad after my mention of him.

I hope Uncle Brad is giving him some tips on diet :)

I expect most fans will be surprised how well the young lad plays...

That Wakeham gouge was one of the worst I’ve seen, no doubt about intent. I’m surprised he’s playing again this year, and plenty of next. F***ed if I know how they come up with only 4 weeks considering some… most… punishments for the same in the past. Steve Linnane? Was it? Or was he the victim? Anyway, that one got 20 weeks.

And Wakeham was worse.

We might be going to drop ZDC and play Topine or Morrin off the bench to stiffen up the goal line defence.

Assuming that we are right about the team selections.

I rate Potter higher than Baz in (currently) in the following areas:-
1. Team selection.
2. Bench rotation.
3. Identifying problems.
4. Playing style.
5. Handling the media.

Potter seems better at the big picture and I suspect Baz might have been a bit better on detail and motivation.

IMO with the big picture right a coach can then work on the detai, or hire others to do it.

The official story from Gus a few days ago is that no one has applied so far for the coaching gig and they haven't approached anyone.

They did seem to rule out Madge.

Flanagan has let the media know that he would like to be approached. I think a lot could be happening unofficially and Gus is just ensuring that he is in a good position to say nothing.

I am perfectly happy for Potter to coach us for the rest of the season, I doubt any other coach will get much more out of this squad.

For the 2023 coach, I don't have a strong opinion. But I am open to Potter convincing me he is the man for the job. I find results, in particularly wins convincing,  and 2-3 in a row more convincing than a one off win. What will convince me more than anything is the team improving each week and problems being addressed.

As I  said earlier, this is a free roll of the dice for both parties.

On ZDC you don't want to be a guy making a weak tackle on the goalline when the coach highlights on line defence in his press conference. I still rate the attacking side of his game, if he is dropped, that is an opportunity to learn and be better next time.

This is what I mean by addressing problems, we set the standards, and take action when they are not met.

Apparently it's not NRL judiciary but NSW rugby league.

In any case, it was plain stupid and he lucky its only 4 weeks. He will have time to redeem himself and press his chances for NRL call up later in season.

I have to agree. Although it hasn't resulted in any wins as yet, it's still an improvement. Hope we can knock off the Panthers this week so we can gain confidence that things are going in the right direction

Thoughts on this business where a player in possession  runs behind their own player (not penalised)  then steps back the other way and concedes a voluntary tackle (no penalised)….

My thoughts are that it is a penalty.
Take your pick on whether it's a sheppard or a voluntary tackle. Either way should be a penalty

Penalty twice over. This is selective refereeing at its worse, but unfortunately only to common in NRL.

The rules of the game will always annoy passionate fans of the game. The majority of people who watch the game are not passionate fans. And those people don’t notice rule changes. And they are the people the NRL wants to keep watching.

Little we can do as passionate fans.
