+x+x+x+xHonestly I'm going to say no. I have no idea what Tom is going through. I just hope whatever it is he ends up doing ok once it's dealt with. I'm going to think he won't make the squad. So if he does end up being in it, it's a nice surprise. If he doesn't, well at least didn't get hope up. You don't want him to be sick but hope this isn't some spit the dummy tantrum either. If it was, surely we'd have an inkling why. Unless, he didn't really want to leave Celtic and Ange pushed him. But I doubt that ... I actually think that could be spot on. Rogic had one of his best seasons last season, looked fitter and more motivated than he has been in a long time. Definitely had another season in him at Celtic. Then out of the blue he leaves and has no club to go to, by his own choice. Makes no sense If you're doubting it because you think Postecoglou isn't the type that would push a player out like this, then you haven't watched him closely enough. I certainly haven't dismissed this as a possibility. I'm no expert on Ange but he does seem to like fast players with high workrates, such as McGree. Rogic had a good season but maybe Ange thinks he can find better fits. If that theory is correct, then I question whether Ange would be interested in Mooy. If....

Mooy should have gone to Brazil and if not that then the Asian Cup. Could not ignore him after that though, as he was our best player, full stop. He's just not his type of midfielder.

Jedi...............Milligan .........Luongo Although I think Ange was still playing that awful, irregular 3-6-1.

Then one of our FBs was injured and he came on very early and had a blinder. MIght've been making a point.

Sitting at end where Cahill scored in Kaiserslautern right now. 3rd time here. Such hallow ground this goal area.
Can't begin to imagine the noise that day.

If mooy goes to celtic it will be as a replacement of Bitton as a sole holder.

maybe Ange went to Rogic about bringing Mooy in and Tommy said "I'm out then" maybe Aaron and Tom had some sort of falling out? makes sense why he pulled out of last set of qualifiers, maybe Tom was pissed that Aaron missed the big games against Japan and SA? Maybe Aaron didn't have COVID or his club made him stay?

+xIf mooy goes to celtic it will be as a replacement of Bitton as a sole holder. Never felt like playing as a sole 6 was Mooys natural game as he dosnt have the pace to cover the ground. He does remind me a little of how Bastian Schweinsteiger played towards the end as that deep metronome. If he does play as a 6 he'll need Hrustic and Irvine closer to cover the sides. Id like to see us try a diamond to get an extra number in Midfield such as Rogic or Mcgree that can get onto the box. Mabil and Boyle as wing/strikers which is a role they have both played. I just dont have much confidence in our no 9s going into the WC Mooy Irvine Hrustic Mcgree Boyle Mabil

His technical qualities greatly exceed his game sense. When he has played as DM, he has made a lot of poor decisions. Plus he thinks too slowly. In the attacking part of the pitch, any of those mistakes he makes, aren't as costly.

Apostolos Giannou .. 32 years old. What are the chances this guy could play some games for us. This guy only played 12 games for the NT, scored twice and 4 assists. Most of these were shitty Asian group stages games. His Greek league stats are fairly good. Too old? or just too nomadic? Perhaps could help up front if we end up weak in this position.

Our best up top at last Asian Cup and handy in the UAE game. Just a slight offside preventing the lead. When I see him doing well in the A League, I have him in my short list. He's certainly a roughie but not a poor player.

I thought he looked skilful for the Socceroos, but lacked clinical finishing around goal for a central striker.

8+1: Breaking down how the Asian qualifiers will work for the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup in 2026 (espn.com.au)It is looking a long way ahead but the impact on the Socceroos is we play in one of nine groups of 4 (from Nov 23 to June 24) and need to finish top 2 to progress then play in one of 3 groups of 6 (Sep 24 to June 2025) and need to finish top 2 to automatically qualify, 3rd and 4th from each group in that stage enter a 6 team playoff for 2 more spots plus an interconfederation qualifying spot. 8 groups of 5 saw some very one sided scores and 9 groups of 4 is likely to reduce that only very slightly. There won't be much pressure on better teams as a top 2 guarantees a spot in the next stage whereas the 8 groups of 5 saw half the second place teams miss out. The next stage is interesting, 2 groups of 6 has proven to be tough work, whereas 3 groups of 6 should be somewhat easier as the best teams will be more thinly spread. However the 6 team AFC playoff system should see less dead rubbers in the group of 6 stage as teams battle for 3rd and 4th spot in the groups.

Football Australia has today confirmed that it will not proceed with submitting a formal bid to host the AFC Asian Cup 2023™, but maintains its strong interest in bidding for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ 2026.

Isn’t It funny how much things can change in two months or so since the season started. I don’t think there are any genuine disputes to the fact the best Socceroo midfield is Irvine - hrustic mooy
bur you now look at who is the next best and at the start of the season it was probably genreau and metcalfe with Mcgree and now guys like baccus and devlin are banging the door down and putting a lot of pressure on guys like genreau who is in trouble of missing out.
Also guys like Ryan strain and ale circati putting a lot of pressure on Nat atkinson and bailey Wright

Our CM depth is absolutely insane right now. We have like 3 generations of talent fighting for those 3 starting spots. It’s very healthy.
