Womens team win 4-1 against Singapore. Some cracking goals. The highlights are extremely shit quality which is very disappointing. You'd thing our federation could send someone over.

We are 2-3 down just after the break. Great to see we are instilling a losing mindset early. These tournaments are a chance for our lads to start their careers with success. They are not a time to experiment. That should have been done prior to the tournament with friendlies etc.

This is the same thing every tournament. We use the AFF to experiment. There is no other explanation. Myanmar are shit. As too were Indonesia and Vietnam a couple years back when we lost to them. How do we know this? Great question. Because fast forward to today and what have the Indonesians or the Vietnamese done at the senior level? Nothing. It is clear, not enough work is being done with the lads to prepare them for a tournament.

I find it interesting that Sydney FC and WSW have been very heavily represented in the younger rep teams over the last few years but this seems to drop away at higher levels and both don't bring tons of youth players through.
I wonder if the Selectors/coaches in these junior grades look a lot more at Sydney than other states or if the two Sydney teams are just not great at turning potential talent into professional talent.

+xIt only matters when making an informed and educated comment Sure we can talk about no full time Joeys coach, we can talk about the lack of preparation heading into the tournament or we could talk about the consistent disrespect shown to the AFF by our federation during past tournaments. But I honestly can't be assed. You can talk to a mirror if you want to say everything is fine.

The girls side for example played the day they landed. That is insanity.

Another classic in the AFF tournaments is playing younger age groups. Where is the science and technical guidance behind that decision?

I could be wrong but is this the 2006 born group? You cant really use the curriculum as an excuse when it's been part of there whole football pathway all the way up the age groups.
Not good.

They've had a number of head coaches and assistant coaches over the last few months giving different instructions and they just hired another assistant a few days prior to this game. There's no consistency. I've seen the NSW boys (some on a weekly basis) and they are developing nicely. We have some very talented players but like all players, especially at that age, they need proper and consistent guidance instead of constant change.

People really need to read through this thread and realise nothing has changed since we joined the AFF and the AFC in terms of our approach and mindset towards these tournaments.

According to the Aussie Scout Twitter account (who I’m 99% sure is sportaddict), the FFA are trying to appoint Brad Moloney as the Joeys coach.

I think the issue is not the curriculum it’s how these youth teams are not very well prepared when they compete in overseas competition. The fact that they don’t have a full time coach explains a lot.
