+x+x+x+xBoyle apparently was back training so hopefully it was all just precautionary. Relieving news. Just wondering source? there has been no word he's back training yet that I believe. https://www.hibs.net/showthread.php?359788-BoyleI got it from here. But then a report later in that thread suggests he is still awaiting scans and it might be a nasty one. Ffs. This would be a huge blow. yer I saw that thanks mate, yer I've heard more scans fingers bloody xrossed !!!!!!! A real loss for us if so.

McGee I have seen Boro game on the weekend and thought his first touch is poor. Didn't expect that from him. He didn't look good at all.

scuffed shot for goal and missplaced pass for assist, I still rate Garang better.. Has a much better shot on him.

+x+xMcGree apparently played horribly for Middlesbrough tonight with poor passing and pulling out of tackles. My app says he was left midfield tonight which would be a different position. Thing is, the fans are wrong about his first touch when he has that masterful take on the ball to score some weeks ago. If he's going easy to prevent WC injury then it's pretty understandable. No one wants to take risks now. I did see him playing terribly from what I saw. He also had an 81% pass completion so I have no idea what the Boro fans are on about. I think they've just pigeonholed him as bad and won't change their mind. He often is in position for a good pass in between the opponents but get missed for the long ball or backwards ball option. Boro really don't play fantastic football and personally I thought Hull looked much better in possession. He really would have been better served going to Celtic. I reckon they'd expect a bit more from a player they forked out a bit of cash for.

+x+xId say there is close to 0% chance he will play for us at the WC. He is only 18 and on the cusp of a glittering career in European football, there is no way he is going to jeapordise that by pissing off the Italian fans, media and his club by stabbing Italy in the back and playing for Straya. If he was in England or Spain maybe but not Italy. stabbing italy in the back, how do you figure? Cos he is Irish

+xThe lure of offering Volpato WCUP spot is also ‘balanced out’ by the lure of possibly playing at Euros for Italy. And Italy will most likely qualify for 2026 WCUP with 3 extra Uefa team spots available He is a long way from playing for Italy.

This is what Arnie said about Volpato recently “We’ve got two young kids who are doing extremely well in Italy,” Arnold said. “I’ve reached out to both of the boys. I’ve spoken to them on numerous occasions. “At this moment in time, they can play for Italy’s Under-20s and change their mind and play for the Socceroos further down the track. At the moment in time they’re both just wanting to play and stay in Italy and learning the process of Italian football. “I’m pretty sure if I selected one for the World Cup that they would be pretty keen to come. I’m speaking to them. I’m here for them and they text me regularly to see how things are. “Alessandro, we were very close to picking him for New Zealand but we decided not to make that happen at this point in time as a friendly game doesn’t matter, he can still go back and play for Italy. “It was more about him wanting to stay, working hard and cementing his first-team spot at Parma rather than coming here and missing out on important training sessions and potentially losing his position.” https://the-near-post.com/2022/10/29/hopefully-i-can-carry-on-like-this-volpato-after-as-roma-starting-debut/Latest quotes from Mourinho on Volpato here: https://the-near-post.com/2022/11/01/mourinho-on-super-sub-volpato-he-is-a-player-with-first-team-quality/

If playing for AS Roma and scoring winning goals in Serie A isnt enough for Arnie and the coaching staff to not considering him playing for the national team, then we dont deserve him unless he rejects the opportunity to go.
Apparently Arnie has been in contact with him so we will find out next week when the World Cup squad gets announced.
But this kid looks like an potential generational talent in Oz football standards at the very least.

+xSaw an article about month or so ago that Volpato was ‘still in communication’ with Arnold about his future. Hopefully Volpato was in 55 player list and that Arnold happy to use him. With Rogic not getting minutes lately Volpato could be great replacement in Qatar 🤞 Sadly, I'm not convinced Arnie would have included him in the 55. No bigger carrot to dangle than a world cup, so we need to be trying to get him on board now, especially with question marks over Hrustic and Rogic. Journeymen like Duke in J2 good enough for squad but not a kid with bags of future potential, already playing Serie A.
