Yeah I did a dig on the link and see what you mean... Awways thought that rows of fold up seating would be enough but looking at imagtes I get the fact they would be not as effective at preventing forward surge. Also I note that EPL stadiums seems to be gong one further and having these barriers AND fold down seats in the rows.... seems a much more elegant solution.

I think if seats are included then the capacity of the row is limited by the number of seats whereas if there are no seats the capacity of the row can be calculated by the area of the platen.  ie., you can increase the capacity of the standing area if you have no seats.

Not by much though. Stadium seats are relatively narrow and even standing you need a certain amount of individual space.... I guess maybe this might add a couple of hundred "standing" room spaces but being constricted to 1 x row of people per standing terrace is the same result regardless....  Anyway, I guess its cheaper to do it without the seats so I get it, personally I like having the option to do both.

At CommBank Stadium they can set it up with seats or with safe standing.  It takes them half a day or so to unbolt the barriers and put the seats back in.  They generally only do it at the change of season.

Its about 25% increase in capacity.

Depends on what ratio that they are allowed to use.

It may well be that the stadium safety certificate only allows 1.1.

That's not starting until 2024 now..... have been waiting for an Australian senior league for 18 years and counting now.

Wow - never seen that before. That is a lot of infrastructure.

It's been in place for most Wanderers games since the stadium opened.

Nice. I've only ever seen the bodies - not the framework.

It is actually only 2 bays and i think they allow a ratio of up to 1.5.

It was quite a fight with the Eels not really wanting safe standing.

just like how all the other previous Australia Cup finals have sold out? what makes this any different?

Sydney United fans have done there part, not our problem macarthur dont have any fans. Would of been close to a sell out if it were WSW, Syd FC or Victory in my opinion.

I' m  not   saying   SU   fans  are   not    doing    their   part.
But   FA    should    be   promoting    the    you- know -what   out   of   this   to   get    a  full   house  .  Doesn' t    it    deserve    one ?   Yet   it    seems   practically    invisible ...

So    its    going    to   sell  out    now  ?

Not   like   under    the     old   FA   with   lowy  when      you   to      get   crowds   of + 30,000  and      40 000    every  season

God that was exhausting to type.  Just imagine doing that 10 times a day for no reason whatsoever.

Macarthur FC defender Ivan Vujica can usually count on the support of his family as a given whenever he steps onto the field. But not this weekend. “Best-case scenario for my friends and family is me scoring a hat-trick, and them winning 4-3,” he laughed.

Crowd is fantastic there is 'real' atmosphere something the A L lacks even the Socceroos

there is 'real passion credit to SU58 fans and the Croatian/Australian community - wish the FA would actually do something to try capture that passion at the top levels of football in Australia
