+xI'd be curious to see a list of each tournament and the players who missed it due to injury. Eventually we'll see the injured 11 and the missing 11 with the like of Salah and Haaland. Marco Reus is cursed at tournament time. gotta feel for Sane too, I think this is his 2nd world cup he will miss now. He's way too good to not be there.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_national_football_team#Current_squadJapan squad is named. Very very good one. No Kyogo or Hatate. No Osoka nor Haraguchi as veterans.

+xI'll say Saudi's are gonna do some damage this World Cup. They finished top of the group and are very well coached. I don't like them at all, but can't deny they have as good as shot as anyone to pull off some upsets. Yeah but in the qualification for both 2018 & 2022 how many cheap penalties did they get? In case U forgot...no teams are allowed to lay a finger nail to their player inside the box or the whistle would blow. They won't get that in the final round world cup that's why the Saudis always got smashed badly in the final world cup.

+xI hope Senegal can do well they have a good team im expecting Qatar to have some luck with the referee It’s just good to see new teams do well Senegal are going to be absolutely robbed by the refereeing. Qatar will be desperate to get at least 1 win, even if they don't proceed out of the group stage, and Senegal is their best chance. Every 50/50 decision will go their way, and plenty of obvious decisions that should go Senegal's way will go to Qatar. If they win, the referee will immediately retire to his new island home gifted to him by an anonymous benefactor...

Trying to learn the stadiums and locations. Australia play all 3 games at the same stadium which is a bit dull. Stadium 974 build with shipping containers looks interesting. Group C has more games a the 80k Lusail. Saudi Argentina there is going to be nuts. I really hope 50k Saudis get in and it'll be a fired up game. Mexico Argentina play there too and I expect many will travel. Accommodation meanwhile...

Rubbish night for World cup hopes. Ben Chillwell out. Germany shortlisted Prömel and Füllkrug both injured with the former definitely out and the latter very concerned.
Shocking news for Canada with Davies getting a damming muscle injury with scans to confirm the damage. Doesn't sound good.

I know I'm not sprouting anything new however having this World Cup mid season can never be done.
What a complete travesty with the amount of injuries, shortened prep period etc.

I read somewhere the Carabo Cup games starts up within 2/3days post WC followed by EPL 26th Dec games start, just on a week after the WCfinal. I understand at least Liga/SerieA etc restart anotehr week later or so, at least they have considered the players and their comps. Some Clubs are going to suffer huge post WC ruining their chances for Top4 finishs etcetc.....

Saudi have beaten North Macedonia and Iceland in WC warm ups north 1:0. I'm going to assume it's a fairly domestic selected opponent.
Interesting how teams of different domestic league calendars seem to have plenty of B team camps. While our clubs have the players from July or so, it'd be a interesting to have a domestic national team camp from time to time.

Another high profile injury before the #FIFAWorldCup
Former Liverpool man Sadio Mane will miss this month's tournament after suffering a tendon injury while playing for Bayern Munich against Werder Bremen this morning.

Mane apparently not ruled out.
Endo had a bad concussion yesterday but should recover.
Son has confirmed participation.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_FIFA_World_Cup_squadsSquads starting to role in. I find England's defence a little shaky with Dier and Maguire if they play. Germany's defence could be their undoing. Not totally convinced by some of the selections. Grabara misses out for Poland. Moukoko will probably be the youngest at the tournament instead of Kuol.

I thought, naively I guess now, that thsi world cup would actually be a little better for the players, mid season, fighting fit and not having to drag themselves onto the pitch in do or die battles after a looooooong, for most countries, season.

(pretty much the same for the other big leagues but the FA/EPL are not as forgiving as SerieA/Liga etc...... As you know you can be fighting fit with all these games but %'s rule - more traffic more chance of injury.

Im hoping the insufferable heat and these heavy game loads dont cause any major injuries in Qatar either.... I think there will be ALOT of really nervous club coaches watching on in a few weeks.

Not thrilled to say it but I think that Saudi Arabia might cause some upsets.
Their quality in qualification + Renard + much better acclimisation than most countries (although not sure of the plans of Argentina, Mexico or Poland)
