I always wonder how this kind of betting market is allowed. The players all find out ahead of the public announcement, and when you’ve got 26 people who share the good news with their friends and family, who then may confidentially share the news with their own network… It’s a licence to print money by betting on a guaranteed result that would be very hard to prove was insider trading.

Sure but you know How Arnie is with his selections. I hope common sense will prevail for a change.

I feel like we have a squad full of ‘squaddies’. Lots of decent players who would all do a decent job vying for positions but rarely a truly clear-cut outstanding option for any position.

E.g. At RB any of Karacic, Atkinson and Strain could make a case to be starting, and I’d honestly be fine with any of the 3 starting at RB, but none of the 3 options are truly that much better than the other two guys.

Me too re RB but, to be fair to Karacic - we don't see much of him at club level. That said, his last two NT outings have been underwhelming to say the most. 

I'd be increasingly inclined towards Strain. He's much more solid defensively than the other two and also has some decent forward passing in his locker.

Irankunda is no chance. Good player, but too many ahead of him.

I’m not a big fan of Tilio but he was in Peru playoff squad, NZ squad (completely fucked up a tap in goal mind you) and has scored twice in 2 games. Will be surprised if he doesn’t make squad. What’s the main reason u would leave him out?

- I get Karacic also offers value. A 5th CB is needed in case Rowles or Souttar fail a late fitness test. Let's face it, Behich will start every game and I'd rather take the risk of putting Goodwin or even Strain there in order to fill up space in the squad. I see I contradict myself there with Strain, Atkinson, Deng, Wright and Leckie all being able to fill in at right back.

Mooy Irvine Hrustic McGree Devlin Metcalfe Rogic

- I don't see how Arnold could put faith in someone like Baccus to start compared to Rogic. Rogic is in due the more starting potential. Rogic's best games have often come after a spell. Hrustic and McGree have the versatility that it's a headache how to use them. Dougall just isn't part of Arnold's thinking unfortunately.

Boyle Leckie Kuol Cummings Taggart Mabil Goodwin Arzani

Taggart is proven at international level and doesn't need much to finish a chance. Away goal vs Jordan. Created the goals vs China and had part in the Oman one. Linked up well and hit post vs Japan away and that was his last competitive game. I think the annoyance comes from his injury withdrawals. Maclaren has been tried and tested. The year is 2022 and Duke is leading our line. Great guy but no thanks. Arzani can beat the man. Leckie is on massively borrowed time.

No JMac is big call! Duke has always given his all but 2nd division striker at a WCup is just insane. Would love to see Arzani in Qatar but don’t think he’s done quite enough sadly. But As long as Kuol and Cummings get some minutes there is way more hope of open play goal/s 

Did U watch City game? He scored a couple but He wasted many good chances. His dicision making is poor and as a winger he just didn't have that individual skills to beat the defender. When Nabout come back fully fit he will sit on the bench.

Yes but not all...it is because I watched the last city games. 

I have watched Taggart the last 4 games in J league and he was quite poor. He was dropped by the coach in the cup final and the last J league game. The coach have given many chances but he just didn't score enough and often dissappear in the game. His best year was when he was in K league back then he was unstoppable, he wasn't the same now unfortunately.

I know my preferences won't be what we see on Tuesday. Ahh Maclaren, how I dream he does start in a WC game and scores. One can dream. Can't argue with Duke's passion but I just thing Cummings and Taggart and the ones with the better chance of putting one away if at all.

Yeah a bit of a goal drought the past month. The link up play with Boyle is certainly a positive thing. Tuesday is going to be a heartbreaker for some but I'm glad we've got about 35 names we can generally be content with. 

I'm mad that we still don't have a core system. Still very little idea what Hrustic and McGree are supposed to be. At least the defence seems to have their nucleus.
