+x+x+x+xThe Langerak decision is justice. The dude rejected his country when we needed all the help we could get during the most intense WCQ ever, and watched as actual dedicated Socceroos pushed through for their country. After all the hard work was done, this pea heart says “Ooh I’m ready to come out of retirement now as I’d really like to play at the World Cup! 😃” Fuck off with that shit. As a multi millionaire professional athlete, his excuses for retirement were poor when the rest of the squad, including other Japan-based players, were prepared to do what it takes for their country.
I am so stoked that we haven’t been so weak to allow the national team shirt to be tarnished by letting people like Langerak pick and choose when they’d like to play for the national team. I’ve said previously that I’d enjoy a similar stance on JMac & Leckie, but they only turned down a couple of games, whereas Langerak turned down an entire WCQ cycle.
Langerak made his bed. He only has himself to blame. Everyone entitled to their opinion but I couldn't disagree with this stance any more. Langerak has valid and genuine reasons at a very difficult time with extremely burdensome quarantine restrictions requirements and was upfront with his reasons unlike others! By far our most highly credentialed goalkeeper in last 5 years. Absolutely they are valid reasons but someone like Danny Vukovic who has a sick son managed to make the sacrifice and its not right that then he would miss out. Langerak has made a family decision which is fine, but he has to live with his decision. He cant have it both ways Well it did travel for what seemed like ten years to sit on the bench nearly every game - even the dead ones. I'd say he made big sacrifices already for the team., for zilch reward. Precisely. Not sure how his commitment could be questioned after a decade of always rocking up, knowing he'd be second choice, when really, he's been just as good as Ryan or arguably better his whole career, and certainly way more club minutes over the journey.

+xYour last point @ pat jennings is what worries me. if Ryan is out - who next? I think even Sydney FC fans would be afraid of the prospect of Redmayne between the sticks against france Worries the shit out of me too

happy to not take Langerak but a young 3rd keeper should be taken for the future/experience.

+xDo we know yet if press conference will be streamed or televised, or is team just going to be dumped on the Socceroos Twitter account? I saw a live stream on the Socceroos website about 30 minutes ago but then they took it down, so maybe bandwidth issues or they'll put it up again about 3:55pm.

I fervently hope that if Ryan is injured during the World Cup that Vukovic takes his place, he is a much more reliable keeper than Redmayne. The penalty shootout stuff against Peru was a just a ridiculous, and unjustified, stab in the dark by Arnold. Fortunately the right result came from it, but it was only luck, and I have little doubt that Ryan (or Vukovic) would have done the job for us in the shootout. Redmayne is not in the top 3 Aussie keepers at the moment, in fact I would struggle to include him in the top 5.

Fuck Tom Rogic, couldnt care less
But why the fuck is Thomas Deng there? Is he supposed to the token diversity pick, just so GA can show off how progressive he is? He plays for a club that was playing in the Japanese 3rd tier last year! And at the expense of your most reliable, highest capped center back?

No Langerak, Sainsbury or Rogic are the big surprises. No Genreau a slight surprise. King wins battle ahead of Davidson. Strain missed out. Obviously no Volpato (or Circati).

No sainsbury is a massive call from Arnie.
Surely shuts up all the mates favours crowd though I'm not even sure I agree with it but I guess if Arnie isn't planning on starting him he thinks it would cause unrest

Davidson is very, very stiff imo.
Sainsbury big surprise - not cause he has been great but cause he's chosen two injured players over him.
Rowles def has more to offer now, but the obvious injury cloud is there

Explains Sainsbury's manner in the NZ friendly if he already knew then but surely he couldn't have that far out with injuries still possible. Somewhat consistent with players who've played less missing out aside from Rowles, Souttar and King.

Have to say firstly that it's about a good as we could have expected and secondly the surprise factor is that out best asset because France, Denmark and the Tunisia will have no idea who these guys are.

Rowles def has more to offer now, but the obvious injury cloud is there Davidson was given a game against Jordan earlier in the year and he was terrible, absolutely woeful. When he has played for the Socceroos he has consistently shown he is not good enough.

Yes, good call Ryan Vukovic Souttar Rowles Degenek Deng Atkinson Behich Devlin Mooy Baccus Irvine Hrustic Mcgree Goodwin Mabil Boyle Kuol Leckie Cummings Maclaren Duke No, not good Redmayne - would have gone Langerak Wright - would have brought in a 7th midfielder, Rogic. Karacic - would have gone Strain King - would have gone Davidson

Davidson was probably top 3 player in the league last year and rightly earned a move back to Europe.
