Great goal to open. So proud of Goodwin. Leckie just adding more precision to his game with age. The team is set up well. McGree looks great in that advanced midfield. Duke’s strike - so close! France are making a lot of errors in their defensive half, but Kewell is right - without pressure, they won’t be exposed!

The first goal conceded was naivety, the second was stupid. Mat Ryan has the opportunity to do what he can to keep us in this contest now. To those criticising Atkinson, he’s up against one of the world’s best wingers. He nullified his last attack of the first half. This is just going to be one of those matches. Hopefully Atkinson can continue to work himself into the game.

Goodwin was very positive for the first 20 minutes. We need to look at what we did right in the first half and do more of that. Souttar looks awesome!

Disappointing last 25 but geez we looked alright that first 15-20. Hopefully we can jag another because we all know Ryan cant save anything.

Duke has been awful,  I can accept not getting the ball but he's not even trying,  he should be burning himself out for 60 minutes,  but he looks like he's gonna play the full 90

Yep, I thought Duke was supposed to be there to do the donkey work putting pressure on their centre backs when they have the ball. He has just jogged around doing nothing, then throwing his arms up complaining when they easily move the ball past him.

If we can learn from that first half that would be great.

Mistake was letting the pressure drop, collectively, from about the 25th minute. We couldn't afford to sit back and try and play conservatively at 1-0 up, trying to minimise damage now and stay fresh for the Tunisia game is inexcusable.

Need to go all-out in attack, get the tempo up and stop ball-watching in our half. Otherwise France will toy with us and as great as their team is, there is still at least 1 point up for grabs here if we stay on the front foot with possession and convert that into pressuring them more in defence. Holding back and trying to guess their next move is just giving them space to think and then go around us.

If Souttar is incedentially standing where Rowles is he heads that first goal away. I suppose every goal is avoidable but ours often hurt.
