+x+xDrink driving from events, drunk and disorderly, assault, domestic abuse all have alcohol as a contributing factor, and all may effect secondary parties. I would go as far as to say flares are less of an issue then alcohol when discussing football. This is a typical "false dichotomy" argument that is used to deceive simple-minded folk. When A and B are big problems, it is a false dichotomy to say that B is ok, because A is worse than B. e.g. Nuclear bombs kill more people than chemical weapons, so chemical weapons are less of an issue. Because these type of false arguments are used by people in casual conversation -- and we see it in the media so often -- people use this type of false reasoning particularly when making life-or-death choices. It might seem trivial to point out a false-dichotomy argument in a football forum, but the same people use this false-dichotomy reasoning when it comes to massive issues that affect society and the destiny of Australia and the world. I don't see it as a false dichotomy. I see it as a genuine comparison. We have 2 products that is not only enhancing our Matchday experience but when utilized incorrectly may become dangerous to multiple parties. There may be better ways to ensure these things are done in the future (like we have done with alcohol) should we not look at the options so as to ensure our experience remains improved? or should we just strike it because it's too hard?

+x+xWell I’d probably go to the live sites with my buddies but I wouldn’t take the lass of little kids There where 18 of us (mostly kids) at AAMI (tried to get into Fed Square but got turned away at 5am) and the kids loved it..... Now that it seems FA is "turning a blind eye" and no chance of Hellas getting point deductions I might smuggle a few into NPL games next season and let the littlies learn how to rip them properly :) Hellas has always turned a blind eye to flares.

+xyep I love the vibes flares bring, just got to get those idiots who throw them but no way ban them bring it I say. Was talking to a few of the young player supporters I know yesterday having gone to Darling Harbour - SM they are all in the know, they said Bunnings had sold out and other stores lol......... Go you good thing I say :) Until there is a system that knows how to "get those idiots" it will always remain a danger and illegal

They're banned in the same way that automatic weapons are banned. In that there is a law banning their use, rather than a rule brought in by the club, stadium or other private entity.

Um, Im fairly certain that the use of pyrotechnics in a public space is not allowed in ANY country... Those madcap ultras don't submit an application to the stadium manager and get a permit from the local police chief to rip flares..... they just do it.

It's just you "two" post a lot straight after each other and have very similar views on Lowy and Johnson and the past. Felt like PaulC wanted a transition away from the Remote Control idiocy that's all. Happy to be wrong as always and I'm sure it's just a coincidence. Moving on...

This is Australia...we are a land of rules. Obey your rules you unruly rule breakers

@ Davide82
I see you never responded to my query on the other thread as to why YOU say you wouldn' t have someone like Fahid Ben Khalfallah commentate on a Socceroos match if you were the broadcast producer .
Perhaps you could respond as to your reasons why you wouldn' t , on the relevant thread? Cheers .
