They looked very good today. Best thing for Portugal, is Germany out & Portugal always loses to Germany & Pepe (great goal) always gets sent off.

+x+x+x+xLove the Croatian outlook - 4M people they always keep punching but Brazil gonna be a tall order coming up, 4days rest isn’t bad considering the ET played I’m sure they are going to put up a good fight. They are great. Players across the balkans have always been very technically gifted. I downloaded a bunch of "Classic" National teams on PES 2021, one of them was Yugoslavia. The aim is I'm assigning them to the actual national teams now and wanting to run "All Time Classic" tournaments. The Yugoslavia team I imported, I swear about half were Serbian (given, considering they are considered the continuation of Yugoslavia by FIFA), and the next biggest majority (or even biggest, I'll have to have another look) were Croatian. Surprising to me, considering their size. Why is that a surprise? They were the biggest two republics in Yugoslavia. The best yugo team was full of Bosnians though (1990, tragically got knocked out on penalties by Argentina in the QF). Was more of an ignorant surprise, as it wasn't something that dawned on me until I saw it. The full split up of this PES squad ended up being: Serbia 11 Croatia 7 Bosnia 3 Slovenia 1 Kosovo 1 Did the same with the Soviet Union team made on that mod, and got: Russia 10 Ukraine 8 Georgia 4 Belarus 1

I got France vs Brazil final, as much as I like the great man in Lionel Messi to win one I dont he's team are capable of beating Brazil they might even struggle to beat the Netherland whom like Australia will give them a tough tactical battle but have the quality to hurt them.
Portugal will make the semi's and beat Morocco who did very beat to go through against Spain via penalties, great to see them be the first ever Arabic speaking to make the quarter finals at a World Cup but I think Portugal will be too good. Progression for the world game to a new country make the last 8 in the world though.
Spain's style of play as much its good to watch, it can easily become predictable when you can figure out to stop them and created very little in the last 2 games after their promise against Costa Rica. I can see Luis Enrique moving on and as I dont think he can improve them with how they play, if anything they need to evolve.

+xWould love to see Croatia do Brazil Think I heard a stat that since they won in 2002 Brazil has been knocked out by the first big Euro team they have had to face. Haven't checked. Wonder if the guy that said that meant any Euro team or what he considers big

Yeah and that's why they are genuinely my least favourite team to watch in the whole world. Not even a hint of hyperbole. I find them incredibly boring to watch as a neutral even though if I can obviously appreciate the technique.

+xlike to see port v eng in the semi. always a belter when those two play what a game that will be, city players up against each other. Then you got the circus of ronaldo and him wanting to show the british he still has it. Salivating to say the least.

Like with all things, imbalances/inefficiency gaps often get closed in international football and styles evolve. I really haven't seen Spain evolve that much since 2010 nor Germany since 2014 and I think these countries have been found out this WC. The modern game of football relies heavily on dynamic players and systems and has been devoid of individuality/no.10's for a long time. Given the rate at which knowledge transfers online and coaches have everything at their fingertips, I wonder how long it will take before we see No.10's come of age again. If all systems are known and how to counter them, then it's going to take an anomaly to overcome them (ie. an x-factor player).

Morocco have only conceded 1 goal in their last 4 matches. Apparently they've only allowed 5 shots on target during the whole tournament. Saw this on twitter regards Spain's penalties and thought it was quite funny. Spain completing 100% of their passes to Morocco’s goalkeeper.

+xWould love to see Croatia do Brazil and Neymar rolling rolling from end to end :) They went through the motions in the Grp and Cameroon game rested quite a few in that loss but that SK first half romp was smoking. History is against the Cros but stranger things have happenned in football, Brazil team is better than the last 2 squads imo that went down as shown by NCB above. Croacia have a very balanced squad and we know they will go to the end, ol LFC mate Lovren might be the weak link age and lack of pace on the turn them coming at him let alone behind. Pressure is more so on Brazil being favs. Date | Competition | Result | Scorers | August 17 2005 | Friendly | Brazil 1-1 Croatia | Ricardinho (42); Kranjcar (32) | June 13 2006 | World Cup | Brazil 1-0 Croatia | Kaka (44) | June 12 2014 | World Cup | Brazil 3-1 Croatia | Neymar (29, 71), Oscar (90); Marcelo (own goal, 11) | June 3 2018 | Friendly | Brazil 2-0 Croatia | Neymar (69), Firmino (93) |

Wonder if the guy that said that meant any Euro team or what he considers big 2006 - Faced Croatia (group), knocked out by France 2010 - Faced Portugal (group), knocked out by Netherlands 2014 - Faced Croatia (group), knocked out by Germany, then beaten by Netherlands 2018 - Faced Switzerland & Serbia (group), knocked out by Belgium 2022 - Faced Switzerland & Serbia (group, AGAIN), now up against Croatia. That said, if you go further back it's likely to be very similar. Because if they're not good enough to win the cup, who else is going to knock them out but a good Euro team? The only other team that is likely to do it is Argentina. 2002 - Faced Turkey (group), knocked out Belgium, England, Turkey and Germany to win 1998 - Faced Norway & Scotland (group), knocked out Denmark, Netherlands (pens), and lost to France in final 1994 - Faced Sweden & Russia (group), knocked out Netherlands, Sweden & Italy to win 1990 - Faced Scotland & Sweden (group), knocked out by Argentina 1986 - Faced Spain & Northern Ireland (group), knocked out Poland, knocked out by France (pens) 1982 - Knocked out in group (Italy & Argentina) 1978 - Faced Austria, Spain & Sweden (1st group), faced Poland (2nd group), beat Italy for 3rd 1974 - Faced Scotland & Yugoslavia (1st group) faced Netherlands & East Germany (2nd group, missed out to Netherlands), lost to Poland in 3rd place playoff 1970 - Faced England, Romania & Czechoslovakia (group), knocked out Italy to win. 1966 - Knocked out in group (Portugal, Hungary, Bulgaria) 1962 - Faced Czechoslovakia & Spain (group), knocked out England & Czechoslovakia to win 1958 - Faced Soviet Union, England & Austria (group), knocked out Wales, France and Sweden to win That was their first title, so finishing it up there, but in all that, there was only once case where they knocked out any 'big' Euro team and didn't win the tournament, and even that was only won on pens.
