+x+xYoung gun signed from the Broncos Karl O, 18 year old 5/8. Dispute with the Broncos he wanted to be in their top 30, Broncos and Dolphins in off season dispute over this kid. We paid $500,000 to the Broncos release fee, I'm guessing straight into our top 30, and no free drinks for Dman at Laundry pups this week. Next week should be ok, your noble sacrifice is noted. He certainly can hit defensively. Half of his highlight reel is him folding some c***. I can see why The Broncs wanted to make him a #13, he wanted to play #6, which isn’t gonna happen at The Dogs and surely he knows this. Probably hoping to make it as a #7. But I reckon before his 4 years are up he’ll be a #13 and potentially a great one. As much as I love great offensive play.. i appreciate a half folding done c*** just as much…

+xWas the Broncs issue his position or not being given a top 30 opportunity this year???…
Both, from reports. I’d the top 30 one bit more though. Cause he ain’t playing #6 at The Dogs any time this decade.

Asked if he was a 6, Gus just said that he was a footballer. Also no firm plans for him to play NRL, will nor be rushed.

+xI think, from the admittedly very little I’ve seen of him, he’s a bit like Schuster. Talented with the ball, hits like a truck, thinks he’s a #6, wants to be a #6, but….. he’s really a 11, 12 or in his case 13. Broncs were right. Hopefully, and I bet he did, Gus promised him ever opportunity to make it as a #6, knowing when he’s had said opportunity… in Reggies… he’ll want to play #13 in NRL. Schuster is an interesting case, he bulked up, seem to get unfit, injury prone and started to push plays, he probably just about had the talent to be a 6, if none of those things happened. The good way to introduce a young kid like this to NRL is play him off the bench. If we get a injury in the halves throw him in, otherwise anywhere in the backrow, perhaps centre if we are short and desperate. If he wants to be a half, he has to play like a half, running, passing and kicking. If he can do all those things then his size and tackling are a bonus. Perhaps the closest parallel I can think of is someone like Laurie Daley, Steve Carter, there have been a few bigger players who have made it as a 6. I am sure that there are bigger bodied players who have made it at 6, but I can't think of a recent example. Yep 99% chance he will end up at #13, 1% chance #6.

Gus has ruled out a play for Mitch Moses.
He tried to call Marki for advice, but Albo was on the phone to the doc.

Thank fvck fior that… From both a football and ongoing speculation lens… Unlikely to be a noble fib… the flat tracker can stay at eels and win nothing like he’d have done anywhere else except maybe England…

Karl will most likely play in the halves. I think Burto plays a traditional half back role and the kid plays the traditional 5/8th role. Obviously he could move into the forwards or be a superstar off the bench. But I get the feeling we pulled out of the Moses signing to get this kid. Four year deal. He has the skills. It would be nice to have the biggest halves pairing in the comp.

I watch Karl's highlights, some nice passes and a kick, good footwork, broke lots of tackles. When halves are a danger running the ball that creates opportunities for their support runners. Reading between the lines from what Gus said, Karl, BBO, Flanno, Rajab and Hayward could all be contenders. But if Rajab and Hayward don't make the top 30, BBO is out injured and Flanno doesn't fire Karl is a good shot at getting the gig. If his trial form is good Rajab might get first shot. If Karl lights up the trials he might get first shot. Trails are important for both young guys. First shot might be hard to shift.

+xThese beer taxes increasing every 6 months is criminal… My understanding is the excise will increase, for beer with an alcohol content of > 3.5% in a container over 48L, from $39.27 per litre to $40.72 per litre. Now if a schooner is 425ml you get almost 2.5 per litre @ approximately 5% alcohol. Now unless I've fucked this up which I probably have, it will take almost 50 schooners to get 1 litre af alcohol. 3 to 4 cents a schooner should cover it watch watch them take advantage of the excise rise. Remember it should not come with any other consequential rises. Anyhow after all that crap I'm off to the club tomorrow night before it all happens on Feb 1

One will stand out at training as well. Hopefully more than one even.
I just get this feeling our right side attack will feature young Karl. Hopefully he kills it in the trials.

I think only one official rial this season… much to the Mocks chagrin… Trials are dressed up as a preseason comp, details are very hard to find on the NRL website We play Raiders Feb 12 and Sharks Feb 19. I hope that we use the trials as trials, I don't care if we come last. The messaging is all over the shop and information is hard to find.

12 points for a win. 1 bonus point for, 5+ tries, 5+ line breaks, 10+ offloads.
If we don't total 30 points for the 2 trials, the Mock will write our season off.

RFM club captain… Burto and Lou Reed on field captains…
Happy with that.. especially Ray… interested to know who speaks to ref on field, expecting Lou…
Does it maybe mean (unlikely) Lou doesn’t play 80???…

Such a shame JJJ producers are obviously only interested in getting a job at commercial stations instead of exposing the youth to great and diverse music…
Even the 14-21 year olds in my house have been horribly disappointed with the past couple of years of commercial 3 beats per minute whinging generic trash dished up in the main…
I’m so chill and ironic.. slay… fire…

VB 30 pack cans. Usually go low $60’s sometimes high $50’s on special.
Works out around $2 a beer. Last time you got that at a bar in a pub or club was in the 80’s.
And yeah I know it’s a can, but the thing about a can is you chill it in your freezer, or on ice, and then pour it in a schooner, you won’t get a beer chilled better.
