+x+x+x+x+x+x+xgoodness gracious this referee is awful Lucky it's just a friendly Which bit? Aha let me guess…McGree played for it on your eyes? Not arguing with you over ref decisions. Didn’t plan to. You clearly made your point and I dare say more times than not McGree gets a pen You're way off. McGree had nothing to do with it. Hey? But you replied to me you didn’t want to argue when I was talking about the no pen call.
Anyway whatever Mate I was talking to Grazer and you jumped in. Then you assumed what I was thinking about McGree based on nothing I said.

On replay looks like Borrello was offside for the goal.

+x+xSo quick google search and deng has been playing J1. Why was he so awful? Yeah out of character. Those nights happen. Been very solid so far this season. Think we've all had those days where things don't click. He’s already 26 and had his chance to make a statement tonight. Not sure he should get another chance anytime soon

Wright is disappointing. He thinks too slow , no vision with thr ball other than side way & short pass. I d prefer Deng over him.
Koul needs a space to run. He couldn't do much in a tight space and he just couldn't press.
Tulio is a waste of a sub. Should've been Irunkunda
Goodwin, Borrello, Irvine, Bos and the GK are great

Kuol was pretty lazy off the ball unfortunately.
Deny didn’t have a great game either which is a shame. Devlin was pretty bad too but has heart obviously. The midfield was completely ran over. They were physically and technically a lot stronger tonight.

They got away with blue murder in the midfield tonight, that #23 is a grub. O'Neill & Irvine did really well tonight for us & McGree had some good moments.

I’d prefer the guy with the slow brain. You can see why Deng is suited to the Japanese style , the opponents are similar in size and strength. Deng wouldn’t even make it in the Andorran 3rd division.

To be fair a different ref that cuts out all the rough stuff and he probably stands out

Deng better as a RCB, looked uncomfortable being on the left, was excellent prior to WC.
Degenek is a LCB/RB for club/country, Rowles a LCB club/country, Souttar a RCB for club/country. The next cb tested should be Rich-Baghelou, RCB. Wright, RCB should get the flick.

It was a disappointing loss, but I guess the Socceroos fielded a weaker side, and that diabolical ref didn’t help things, that ref shouldn’t be allowed to ref an under 6’s game, let alone an international one. That said, the Socceroos are still giving away too many silly turnovers, and you can’t do that against quality teams like Ecuador. But on the positive side things, I think the Goalkeeper looks good, and Borello had a good game.

It was an interesting game, Ecuador decided to muscle up even more from the first game and really imposed themselves physically in this game.
Our first half wasnt too bad but it was too stop and start for mine and therefore lost some of the momentum with Devlin's stoppage but again it was a nicely worked goal albeit another close offside call but it was a well deserved lead after that the game changed.
In the second half we struggle to handle their physicality and therefore we struggled to keep the ball, this might be unpopular to say but Irvine is technically average at this level especially in a deeper role, play him further forward as No.10 or SS and he looks more effective with he's pressing and forward runs but in a deeper role he looks lost.
McGree wasnt great either when hes forced to drop deep for the ball as someone said he doesn't have the best first touch when under pressure compared to say someone like Hrustic, Rogic or a Genreau as a No.10 he's at home but we needs someone that could help Australia play out of pressure and therefore free him up to face forward maybe he could continue he's evolution by playing under a tactically progressive under Carrick. But like Irvine he's not comfortable playing out pressure in deeper areas, a passer in Mooy, Genreau or even Robertson could be interesting.
Also Metcalfe is not a winger, he always turning he's back away to he's goal and slowed the play down when he more suited centrally and maybe a solution in those deeper areas but he doesnt play there for he's club there so this is a problem.
Deng looks uncomfortable against Rodriquez their No.8 who looks a handful.
In terms of subs I would have wanted to see more of Tilio he looked dangerous when facing forward but needed more of the ball, Kuol badly needs game time with some poor touches and Bos looks ready for more game time at this level like O'Neill.
Overall a nice hit out from both games.

One negative is we need to improve is our aerial defence
france got three headed goals iirc and equador 2. They were world class headers and crosses to be fair but it is something we can work on
id like to see more of deng in a less physical game. He was composed with the ball under pressure
same with metcalfe
In the despite the pitch and the ref what a great couple of games and promising batch of players

+xJust a bit deflating but two tough games and a lot to take out of it. I feel at least we transition forward a lot quicker and better so hopefully the days of slow possession are over. June will see a lot of rotation again so we might see a few different faces. If we are playing tougher opposition in the next break I think we will have the strongest squad possible with the best performing inexperienced players brought on as substitutions.

What do you mean he was excellent? He has two senior caps for the Socceroos, and as recently as this year, as a 26 year old he was playing in J2. We all saw why tonight. No your eyes did not deceive. He is garbage.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVuXStRrhEsFull game for those overseas. Gets taken down by FA after a while. Excellent service. They must have paid a fee to 10 or Paramount. This should just be the way for football.

Terrible marking for the second goal. Irvine loses the man while Degenek all alone in the 5 yard box charges away from where the ball actually flew into the net.
Devlin wasn't bad. He just wasn't involved. The ball was never given to him in attack nor did he really go for it. O'Neill on the other hand appeared trusted by the others as a conductor of play.

Positives of the window
Irvine stepping up a lot (except for the 1:2) Goodwin is a fine wine O'Neill looking at home Duke's drive and Borrello is definitely a viable option Bos, Robertson and Gauci debuts Mabil letting us know he's still around
Negatives of window
No time for Strain or Atkinson so the RB mystery continues but Degenek isn't doing anything majorly wrong either. McGree getting sick Deng and to a smaller extent Devlin and Metcalfe not having the best time.

The loss doesn't worry me nor the loose ref, thats NT games, at times you encounter a constant whistle blower others like the one tonight so any team has to adapt imo. Yes injuries could prevail but the game on the night. Agree with the undue turnovers under the pump despite the ref but overall a good hitout nothing beats match play friendly or not. Yer not impressed with Deng in the box and earlier being shown, that was shabby defending being beaten and trying to recover from behind you don't pull or obstruct the opponent like he did in turn taking them both down. The mention of defending corners in the air is right even though no one followed the scorer Souttar on probably would have won the ball and cleared it maybe.

Agree with everyone complaining about the ref.
Awful display!
He let them hack us to pieces with impunity. Their coach said they lifted their tackling and physical intensity to match us after the first game. That said, they outplayed us from 45 mins to 75 mins, whilst we gained the ascendancy from 80- 95 mins.
From the stats, we had 51 % possession, but given they had more balls played into the pen box, they had territorial advantage, whilst we played many of our passes in the defensive half.
They had 16 shots to our 9 or so, and more shots on target.
Supposedly both teams won 55 contests each.
Moreover, we lost our defensive shape much more than in the first game.
Ecuador played the roughest football I've ever seen from a South American team playing us. The ref had a blinder playing for Ecuador too!
Neither Wright ( too slow on the ball) or Deng ( outmuscled) held up that well, to it against Rodriguez et al. Given Harrison Delbridge at times Andrew Marth style display ( an old NSL hardman) type actions against the Kiwis, he would have been a good option last night in Souttar's absence.

I'm not challenging the decision- making process of our great coach Arnie, but Metcalfe looked hopeless at right wing. Off forum I'm told he has played there for St P. Tilio made such a difference at RW when he came on. It seems like a game losing decision playing Metcalfe there. He also missed from a great scoring chance on the far post We had little attacking impetus from the right flank with Degenek and Metcalfe.

The turnovers were created by the intense Ecuadoran physicality, and possibly because a few of our players were inexperienced or second stringers.

Had Strain started and overlapped then Metcalfe would've been fine playing a little more inside like he has been at St Pauli. I also found McGree was often rooted to the midddle and wasn't able to roam as wide as he would for Boro.

Thought both McGree and Devlin struggled watching it live. However, three others off forum thought they had good games. I hope to see a replay to scrutinise both more closely.
In the first game I didn't notice O'Neill live, but after the replay thought he was tremendous. And he looked great when he came on in the second game.
