+xWookie not sure if you're aware, that City v Victory game was the postponed game, and some 20k had already turned up for the first part of the game (which went for 21 min). Not sure how you'd normally handle an event like this, but it seems to me that it's fair to count that figure for the one game, rather than counting the 2nd figure. Or are you using the ratings formula? i screwed it up early this morning. Ill get back to it at some point.

Adelaide was 10,110 per ausstadiums website. I'm shocked at the Mariners crowd, that is a brilliant effort. As a Jets fan it makes me wonder what we had, what we lost and what could have been if we were not run so poorly for the past 10 years. I'm pretty confident the Wanderers b/s their crowds each week. That stadium holds 30k, no way was 1 in 3 seat filled.

Looking at those numbers, it feels like an opportunity missed for a bit of momentum. There is little doubt they would have achieved their 10,000 average had they not made that decision about the GF. But I’m sure the APL (and their apologists) will spin it another way.

These pesky actives are always getting in the way. It will be interesting to see what happens if there is a Sydey Derby final. Hypothetically, there could be an Elimination Derby, a two legged semi Derby or a GF derby. Interesting to see if the cove holds strong in their boycott if any of those scenarios eventuate.

Once again this proves independent self governance of the top flight is not working.

Wanderers vs Wellington 10,766 Newcastle vs Central Coast 9,271 WU vs Melbourne City 5,753 Victory vs MacArthur 6,012 Perth vs Adelaide 6,083 Brisbane vs Sydney 12,063
Ignoring Victory who I am sure will be back next season with no crowd restrictions (and a new squad), really disappointing crowds for WU vs City and Perth vs Adelaide. Rest of the attendances were good over the weekend.

I sat next to a lady who hadn't been to a Roar game since Mulvey was sacked. Only my 2nd game of the season. I wouldn't read too much into the numbers. The BR admin has to do a massive job in reconnecting to the fans for this to be the norm. Was a breath of fresh air to be back at Lang Park. We also need to decommercialise things, so we need to call it it's name when it was built.

Had this game remained in Redcliffe, lucky to have got 8,000. Potential galore if things are managed correctly.

I will however LOL at WU v City being lower than ours when the season was still on the line for WU. Saturday night too v Sunday.

It will be a big off-season for MV. If they finish bottom, Popa will definitely have to go. If not, that membership number will definitely take a hit. If we win this weekend, NJ loses and PG/WU draw, we will finish 7th. If Nix also lose, that would put us only 1 point away from finals. In that scenario, I could see them keeping Popa a little longer. However, IMO I reckon he needs to go. Then they need to sign a coach quickly. No drawn out process. Get someone in and start signing players. If that person is Talay, so be it. If they want members to renew, there needs to be changes happening. I suspect what will happen is that many members will keep their memberships, however downgrade to a 3 game option. Then upgrade down the track if things are going well. The tally will look better than the attendances suggest.

The tally will look better than the attendances suggest. Maybe this is a discussion for the Vuck thread, but I think I lot of people will not renew initially and see how things develop in the offseason. Changes in the squad will not be enough. Heads need to roll off the field. Someone needs to be held accountable for initially agreeing with the Grand Final decision and the lack of support for the fans when it came to the sanctions. If there is no movement there, people will not return. There also needs to be far better fan engagement. Listening to the FVS pod yesterday, we were reminded that MVFC promised a new level of transparency and openness 12 months ago. This did not eventuate. In fact, the club went even more to ground after the derby controversy and the 777 Partners sale. As for the squad itself there are rumours circulating the club will seek a change of strategy and try to develop more youth. Fucked if I know how that can happen under Popa and with no definitive academy site. As for me, I will not be renewing. There would have to be significant, significant change, or for the Sydney GF to be dumped for me to change my position. I know I am not alone on this.

I sense a small recovery in crowds the past few weeks. I think that augers well for the league next season. Expect another small uptick in average attendances.
