Hopefully its easy go get to, lots of parking etc. Anything can happen on the day, but i think its Souths year. I'd probably rank Oakleigh A, while south and avondale are A+. Over the past few years we've always struggled to beat south.

I hope we win, but i dont see it happening. I'll happily to agree to losing this game if it meant beating Melbourne city.

Yeah its never an easy game between us thats for sure.... Might be the last time we ever play Oakleigh (unless we meet in the finals) so hope my boys get this one done :)

Very deflating match. Oakleigh where clinical and their high, aggressive press just destroyed our outlet forcing us to go long every single time.... 
1st half was better, big Ajak missed a sitter in the 6 year box and we also had a goal scratched for offside which (I haven't watched the replay yet) didn't seem to be at the time and would have changed the momentum of the match.

Played two new signings and it showed... no talking, no midfield, not structure and two playes who (at best) have been benchies at tehir respective clibs and looks like were never taught how to play soccer..... offt hate the NPL sometimes. hahahahahah

Weve got a game in hand but cant afford to stumble again if we want to keep a top two finish at least....  Dont discount Hume, they are down and out this year but, like every other bloody team in this league, they find a special hidden gear when playing against Hellas.....  You should have heard the Oakleigh players yesterday... celebrating like they just won a cup final or something... its pretty sad if you think about it.

embarrassment of a temporary home ground. Years ago we made northcote a fortress, why would we not go there again.  only good thing at yaraville is the food.  that surface was absolutely atrocious and it showed. players couldn't get any momentum. credit to oakleigh who also played very well but that ground was a big factor in the loss.  

Id agree with you if we ever bothered to play the ball on the ground mate...  Mustafas first touch cant be blamed on "bobbles" on the pitch :(
I quite liked Doxa's ground, small yes, crap to get to yes, poor ptich agreed but we just aren't the slick midfield passing, counterattacking team we like to hope we are....  We "bomb it long to Ajay" even at Lakeside

Well i definitely didn't expect that result, honestly thought we were going to lose by 2 goals easily. Yeah the Oakleigh player's did go nuts as if they won the final, I'll admit that, i guess it's just because wins against South are rare? 

Like i said earlier, when you got two teams who are in my opinion, almost neck and neck, it's always going to be anyone's game. 

Not sure what to think of the ground, some things i liked, some things not so much. 

Also shout out to those 2 South Melbourne supporters going absolutely nuts, screaming and freaking out whenever a decision doesn't go their way, thought they were hilarious, made me laugh. Not sure who they are but i always see them together at every south game, used to see them at Oakleigh games too, but haven't seen them there for a while now.

They'll stil finish top 2 easily. I'm pretty confident of that. Also lucky Avondale had a draw aswell, could still finish 1st.

Yeah I'm pretty certain they are friendly, ive seen ppl come up talk to them, the players too etc. definitely very passionate, its good to see, just sometimes the reactions they give are genuinely entertaining. Yeah i was close by so i heard it all haha, very funny guys.

Oaks has an interesting clash against a Bentleigh coming off their first bit of "form" for the season. Two draws and a win.....  I think this game will be tougher than it looks on paper.... 

They've been a team that gives us trouble, so I won't be surprised if we do go down. I dont want them to get relegated either so i won't be too upset if we do lose. I love the souvlakis there, so ill definitely go. Apparently we're losing one of our better players to an a league club. Dont know the details yet, so i dont know we could be one good player down.

Yeah Pantazopoulos to WSW.... was confirmed on the Aussie trasnfer thread yesterday.. One of the Oakleigh guys told me on Sunday he was "going to the Lebanese team in Sydney" and I put two and two together.... hahahahahaha  Great player but shame its only a scholarship 1 year signing which means they will play him once or twice in a cup game or preseason and then release him back in a year....... There HAS to be a better avenue for these players to transition to full time :(

BTW Souva at Bentleigh is one of the joys of NPL life .... agree. 

Sad to report that Bentleigh has really dropped off their souva game... to go with their football.......
Back to winning ways for South after a small hiccup, still up there at the pointy end of the season with all to play for against Port on the weekend.

What light if any can you shed on Melbourne born and raised, Chris Theoharous... he has magic feet .... was a bit on the porky side when he arrived mid season, but only took one week off after the grand final and has been training the house down to get his fitness levels up..

To me anyway he seems to be one of those players who got caught in the he is not big enough and got passed over .... to me he seems a massive talent...

Appreciate anything you may know of him...

Hey Mid,

Not much Im afraid.. His old man played for Heidelberg back in the day but I think Christian played juniors at either Kingston or Bentleigh .. one of the clubs in the South East anyway, before he got swallowed up as a late teen by Victory NPL.  He DID look sluggish and tubby in the GF, hope he gets into shape and proves to be a weapon for you guys... 

And just like that, 8 goals in two weeks and the season is alive again. Its nights like Saturday night at Altona Magic, perfect weather, good food, decent crowd from both home and away, welcoming hosts and good food.... that make me love this game of ours so much.
The South train is steaming ahead.... 2 rounds to go with a game in hand, next stop Scamenger's park ... FORZA SOUTH.

As for the match, it really was the old cliche, a match of two halves... Magic came out to play, Semi and the Markovski brothers where in the mood and a VITAL penalty save from the greatest goalkeeper in the universe (Nosotros te amamos Javito....) at the half hour mark marked the turn of the game.
Second half was probably the best football South have played all year....  Just so so so proud of the boys... all of them...

Flash score is still showing the Heidelberg v South game on for 16th Aug at Olympic Village but Google has it postponed for next Wednesday 23rd (I assume for Matildas semi final.)

I guess the red headed piece of shit calling for his ball boy to throw a second ball onto the pitch to stop our overwhelming momentum when chasing an equaliser late in the second half is a good indication of the culture that Markovski has instilled.....  

Our derby clash with @HUFCWARRIOR will be going ahead tomorrow night and has been moved forward to not clash with the @TheMatildas Semi Final. We've been informed by Football Victoria the new game time will be this Wednesday night at 6.15pm. - Yet another genius move by the South hating FFV, must have been impossible to postpone this game for 24 hours to NOT clash with the Matilda's???? cant wait till all this petty Jabba the Hut shithousery is behind us.
