+x+x+x+x+xdman, I am picking up from listening to other coaches that even they think the competition goes too long. What do they expect when the NRLol are adding more teams. V'Landys has absolutely fúck all idea if the thinks that diluting the elite players pool and lengthening the season is a recipe for success. The fans can see the results, and it's ruining the game. I think adding more teams will generate more talent over time. We need a team in Perth, another in New Zealand and a northern based team representing PNG could even be worth looking at. We need more juniors playing. And W.A. Is ideal. As is New Zealand. We desperately need to increase participation.
Also if we had 20 teams we could have a fair comp. Every team could play ever team once. And we could have a mid season break for rep games for a month. That's the problem, adding more teams does just that, adds more teams but does not increase the talent pool. Redcliffe was already an NRL area so talent pool diluted not expanded. Storm a classic example of a wasted opportunity. Something like half a dozen true Melbourne local NRL players in 25 years. Adding teams in areas where there is potential to have higher junior numbers is important. Without a team in Perth means most kids don’t have a path to the NRL. A club in any area creates more interest in the sport and should bring money to invest in junior teams. If the game doesn’t expand it will not grow and support will dwindle. One way to grow the game is to grow the junior pathways. It’s why we should have kept teams in Adelaide and Perth and why we should have them in the future. It is a bit of a joke that we don't have a true national comp, just about every other major sport has one. AFL, soccer, basket ball?, netball. The other thing that we could do is go to say 20 teams and have 19 rounds, playing each team home / away alternative years. They can split rounds with a 5/5 split of games over 2 weeks if they need to keep TV games up. Or have a 3 week rep break in the middle of the season. With only 9 home games they perhaps need to add some extra games in to make membership more appealing. Odviously go to 18 teams first. Then plan to add Perth and Adelaide a few years down the track having given some players in those areas a pathway to reserve grade in advance. It will also add to TV revenue. All that is needed is to manufacture players....... INSTANT RUGBA LEEG PLAYER IN A CAN - JUST ADD WATER.

+xGrub is officially retiring in reserve grade for 100th and final time. That will get a good crowd in for reserve grade at Belmore, Grub will be pumped and so will the fans. With BBO back, Toby arriving and Flanno playing hooker / 14, not much need for grub now. He did come in handy for a few games and probably helped the young guys. I think I got as emotional as he did watching the press conference. All I can say is Thanks Joshy. He goes down as one my all time favourite players. I can't think of a player that brought hysteria to dogs fans. Maybe Ben Barba. I hope he gets another crowd rush send off in that final game.

All that is needed is to manufacture players....... INSTANT RUGBA LEEG PLAYER IN A CAN - JUST ADD WATER. I have seen 14-15 year olds soak up quality coaching, decide that they want to win and almost overnight be become vastly better players. For tackling, and high end attacking instincts starting younger helps. But good coach ages 14-18 combined with a player that wants a career and has the hunger to succeed can make an NRL player out of a kid with the basic attributes. Most elite schools offer everything, academic, art and literature, music and drama, sports. Kids are always interested in at least one of these 4 areas and often kids are just interested in one. Kids that are good at sport but also good at other things might prefer to keep sport as a hobby. But perhaps 10% of kids are good at sport and are only interested in sport. They will either have a successful career in sport or struggle to find meaningful and interesting well paid work. First thing to tell young kids that want to play league is, it isn't an easy career, it is a very challenging job, but also rewarding. The dogs dropped the ball badly on junior development and scouting 2012-2020, we let a lot of young kids down. Guys that could have had NRL careers didn't get the right coaching at the right time. Very few clubs are getting this area 100% right, Panthers are. Gus built development at the Panthers, Warriors and Dogs. If is an old formula from an earlier era that lazy or disorganised clubs forgot. The Cows, Sharks and Newcastle probably get a pass mark. Souths and the Raiders also not bad. Tigers have a lot of talent to choose from. I can more or less guarantee there are more kids with talent who want a shot then there are junior rep teams spots available. That is how it always rolls.

I think we have the best spine and backline of the season, even with Foxy out.
We will probably gamble on Skelton on the wing.
I also expect that Nu Brown may come in for Flanno.
Forwards wise the Broncos have us well covered, we might struggle in that area. But for a one off game with a lot of crowd support, and a bit of luck, effort might get us over the line.
The retirement of Grub should increase the crowd and should lift the spirit and energy of fans, especially if reserve grade wins. Winning reserve grade is more important than normal, the team needs the fans to lift them to a mighty effort.

All depends on the Broncos unfortunately. If they play bad we can win.

Surely we sign Tino now. Free agent. We have enough money to beat other offers. If we could get Haas as well we have the best pack in the game.
8. Haas 9. Maloney 10. Tino 11. Kiks 12. Presto 13. Pangai

Reserve grade losing and Grub off after 21 mins.
Must be injured, worst possible way to end a career, damn shame.
Hopefully the fans can lift his spirits.

I would be happy with just Tino, some good young forwards in the U19s SOO, we might get one of them. We already have 2 good young forwards one played U19s SOO the other has beennout injured for most of the season.

Looks like Grub started at hooker and was rotated.

Rubbish defence as usual. Only Sexton saving us. Cobo should have been sent. Elbow to the face.

And the unluckiest team... forget the 50/50 calls, the injuries and also the ball just doesn't want to bounce in our favour. Whathave the Dogs done to deserve it.

We need a good shrink.
I am used to dogs side that is mentally up for the fight and plays with energy and comittment for 80 min
Preston, Marhoney, Kiaz, Morrin, Topine, King, TPJ and Burton are the players I would expect to play with spirit and energy. Preston delivered and the others were patchy.
So much for Grubs big day at Bellmore, we rarely got into second gear.

Last week’s win was an illusion- we leaked 32 points against Rabbitohs B team. 44 points today. Defence is what good teams are built on

I would like to know that. For the first 10 rounds or so, I was happy with the effort, occasionally we were totally out played, but we also had a few close losses. After King and Sutton got injured first time around, we struggled to match it in the forwards. But in the last 5-6 weeks we have rarely played with any energy spirit and commitment. Very disappointing, bring back the Bulldogs.

It is only our good form earlier in the season that is keeping us ahead of the Tigers and Dragons on the table.
Averillo, Kiraz, Wilson and Preston good.
TPJ a mix of good with the occasional bad option.
Burton and Marhoney should be providing more leadership.
If we are trying to convince Tino to join the club that is the wrong kind of performance.
Anyway it probably can't get any worse.

Bulldogs spirit is bullshit. As is all the crap the club Carrie’s on about. It is a shadow of its former self. I would be surprised if we are in a better position in a couple of years time. We don’t have the talent on or off the field. It will probably take Gus to k lol eave for the team to finally make the finals. Fuck this club.
