its just another game fellas, nerves are a good omen - at the girls feet from koff. I'm amped and hope they perform to expectations of the occasion, no ET or pens please lets do it normal time but the opponent will lift for this one and Reece out a bonus. People that are pretending to be supporters Matilda is slang for a German war prostitute, so maybe that's better That might become a terrible look into our near future if the AfD and the Reichsburger keeps growing in Germany.... Some of the oldies, back in the mother country in the mountains, claim they hear the drums of war starting to beat again. Hmm, probably not the greatest look now Doesn't look like anyone checked the song out first meh, TIL that the women's Rugby Union team are called the Wallaroos..... we are a pretty fucked up country sometimes. hahahahahahaha Would you like the guess what the New Zealand badminton team suggested they be called? The men's soccer team are the All Whites. Surprised no one's blown up about that. There used to be a fantastic football comic strip called "Studs Up". Been gone for about a decade now, but some of the images are available on google, if they were copied to other sites eg;  Anyway, it had a brilliant one for NZ at the 2010 world cup. 1st frame showed Nelson Mandela getting introduced to the players, and a guy saying; " And lastly, Mr Mandela, this is Ryan Nelson, captain of New Zealand's national team, the All Whites". Mandela looks perplexed and says " The ... All Whites?" 2nd frame: Ryan Nelson: (laughing) " HaHa... Yeah, I can see why you'd ask about that, this being South Africa. It's just to differentiate ourselves from the All Blacks. In fact, the All Whites and the All Blacks don't really like each other that much". 3rd frame: <Awkward pause> 4th frame: Ryan Nelson: " This isn't helping, is it?" People that are pretending to be supporters Cant say my arms have turned to custard .... yet ........ but I dont mind it and use it myself... I guess partially because of the kids and how our conversations go with them, maybe thats what the youngsters are calling them and it translates to us old bastards ? I think a lot of people are more so temporary supporters than actually pretending mate... Everyone in the country wants them to do well, a vast majority will just turn off if they don't. ha ha fair enough.....my morning gripe about nothing :D hahaha Ive already "told off" the coffee guy this morning.... talking about how "unique" Aussie, Aussie, Aussie Oi Oi Oi is and thats our "edge" over the English. hahahahahah I hate that chant. I kept thinking we really need to have some proper chants. The Oi Oi Oi and the "Oh Lets go Matildas" was all we had. Quite boring and lame. The Viking clap came out a few times, which I don't mind, but we really need to develop something more unique and atmosphere building. The Brazil fans did it so well this tournament. I whinged about this on FB. How can you develop a fan singing culture when they blast music literally until the whistle goes for kickoff, at stoppages, at half time and after goals and immediately after the game finishes. FFS it's not the basketball. It will never develop organically while all this bullshit is going on. Will say the Brisbane game had plenty of noise though. Oi Oi-ers need to be launched into the sun. I've been to 5 matildas matches so far and bee lucky not to have one within cooee of me. Probably jinxed myself and will be sitting near one tomorrow night. The one that pisses me off the most is the "Let's go Matildas, let's go", repeated ad nausem. Is it just a Brisbane thing copied from the equally nauseating "Let's go Broncos, let's go" that I have heard in the past when watching Brisbane Broncos games in the NRL? It is absolutely infuriating. In Wednesday's game there was a woman in the row below me, who probably 15 times during the game started chanting that and a number of people around followed her and chanted along for about 12 repetitions. I think it might be a Netball thing mate. have heard it in Melbourne before at womens sport. It is actually a Mets ( NY ) thing.
