Pre-season started down at Lakeside yesterday with a few starting team players departing... Some interesting signings being announced over the next couple of weeks, stay tuned :)

South Melbourne FC would like to confirm that Ben Djiba, Perry Lambropoulos, Josh Wallen, Lirim Elmazi, Patrick Langlois and Alun Webb have all departed the club ahead of the 2024 NPL Victoria Season.The club wishes to thank each player for their contribution to the club and wishes them all the best for their future endeavours.

Judging by your comments in various posts I don’t think you know whether to laugh or cry but congratulations to those who have put in a lot of hard work to make this happen.

hhahaah a bit of both to be honest... Nervous because its NOT the fully fleshed out comp I was hoping for but excited to be finally able to help grow the club I love... My phone has been running hot these past few hours with mates wanting to know when they can get Hellas memberships for next year...... 

If nothing else, this coming NPL season will be a barometer of the interest in this thing..... Ive already got 15 blokes committed to coming to the first home game at Lakeside..... just of the back of a few tweets by Football Australia :)

Thanks for the kind words mate..... I am just a poor addicted fan... The clubs (all the clubs, even the ones that didnt end up submitting an application) deserve the kudos... For keeping the torch burning and the passion alive... This sport of ours has a tremendous ability to unite, its just that we tend to only see the divisions... Hope this is the first day of many many better ones :) For all of soccer in Australia......

lol.  Mike is actually the nicest most mild mannered person in real life mate.... He has been fighting this "old soccer v new football" battle online for so long. Its hilarious seeing the little eshays loose their minds over how he rubs them the wrong way.....

All the clubs deserve this not just mine.... Lets hope this lights a flame under some of these clubs to go back to producing Socceroos players and coaches ... good times ahead.

Open invitation to anyone on here BTW to come down to Lakeside anytime you want .. can guarantee a decent day out and the only Greek your likely to hear is the occasional "Malaka" which Im pretty sure you all understand anyway :)

While i am very jealous my team did not get in (did they even apply) i am very happy for South Melbourne and all the clubs that got in. I've said it before last year, but i think this is a step in the right direction. I'm praying they will eventually add promotion/relegation, would be nice to see clubs like South Melbourne in the A league. 

Next year South Melbourne is obviously going to be a club i hope we beat everytime we play, but the year after when they enter the second division, i think i might become a closet South fan haha. Im definitely keen to go to a Preston lions vs South Melbourne hellas game!

Not quite sure but a little dissapointed.... 

I hope our last ever visit to Jack Edwards is a happy one ...... can't stand driving away from that place with another loss, its cursed I tell you.

South v Preston at Lakeside will be a 7-10K turnout..... big prediction I know but it has been a loooooong time coming...  The reverse at BT Connor may even be bigger (depending on their capacity)

Is there public transport to get to lakeside? Because parking will be a nightmare 

Anzac Train station (due to open in 2025) is a 10 min walk otherwise tram stop literally meters away from stadium. :)

Yeah the public transport links and close proximity to pubs and restaurants AND the city was the reason WU owners thought Lakeside wasn't a suitable stadium to play Aleague matches in ... had NOTHING to do with us not letting them.... HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH
