Just on JJ.

My understanding, of the relationship between a broad and its CEO is.

The broad set the overall objectives.

The CEO can help with these settings and provide advice, but the main purpose of a CEO is to develop a strategic plan to met the broads’ objectives, and then successfully implement the strategic plans to meet the broads’ objectives.

If you compare the objectives of the present broad with, say the Lowy broad, they are not that dissimilar, in what they want and their objectives.

The huge difference is the strategic plan, presented by JJ is so so so different to former CEO's. All CEO presented a vision. JJ presented his own 11 point plan, the first difference all JJ’s vision points were Football related, not referring back to NRL & AFL objectives.

Just on this, I smiled a big smile, when in answer to why we need teams, he said something like this the A-League and Australian Football is in competition in our region with Japan and he said how many teams they have and then he mentioned Saudi Arabia and how many teams they have.

Bang on our competition is not the NRL or AFL its other Football leagues…… finally someone in a senior position said it. Lets hope others catch on.

In many ways you have to thank the broad for appointing him in the first place.

Like many I think he moves to slow at times…. But its nice to have a Football person in charge for once.

Mid, I'm sure you mean the BOARD :)
Here they are below
https://www.footballaustralia.com.au/board
Sorry mate the Lowy Board didn't have much in common nor did their CEO's to the below.
https://www.footballaustralia.com.au/sites/ffa/files/2020-07/FFA%20-%20XI%20Principles.pdf

Also you have not mentioned what JJ called the current NSD 8 Clubs, the DRIVERS of the game, never heard Lowy's directive to their CEO's to bring the game together but for their own gains.

Yes agree he pointed out it was not only important to focus on locally for the game to compete with the Japans who have some 60 Pro Clubs followed by mentioning SA.
We can't survive rely on APL one bit whatsoever, he knows we HAVE to grow below bit by bit, otherwise we will be left behind real soon by our fellow Asian competitors.

Had to have a bit of a giggle coz you used the word 'broad' instead of 'board'.
That being said many of us can relate to some 'broad' setting the agenda in our lives.

Preach brother... hahahahahah

Speaking of "broads" I thought Natalie Lutz - the head of Professional Football and Comp was outstanding, answered her questions in a knowledgeable and diplomatic way and seems well able to handle any tricky situation (The same old Nazi Sydney United question in particular was well answered) Very easy on the eye too :P

I expect some good hospitality and for plenty of green shirts at Lakeside in the reverse fixture :)

The old flags and banners are coming out of storage .... 2025 is gonna be a great year.

OK, Mrs Johnson, I'll rephrase the question

How long should he competently wait for the Federations he can't control to change their mind and do as he'd like them to ?

Do you have a problem with announcing it yesterday? We're only at eight clubs today, announcing it earlier wouldn't have gained anything. Maybe we could've announced it earlier and been without a media deal, that would've been fun.

I think FA have been patient with FQ and doing what good negotiators do, keeping communication open going forward. The NST is a go, FQ will have to come around one way or another.

Kind regards,
Mrs. Johnson

APIA Leichardt will have a similar ownership model to Bayern Munich and AFC Wimbeldon according to Tony Raciti.

What I understand that to mean is that the FC will be a limited liability company with 75% owned by club members and 25% a public company limited by shares. The proceeds of the IPO are what is funding the NSD venture.

Whilst it will be a little time before we hear back from the FA regards to the 2 or 4 more Clubs approved into the NST I'm putting my punt out there who/where they maybe in no particular order :

1 x Adelaide - yes there must be something brewing.
1 x Tassie of all things doesn't compute but there you go.
1 x Brisbane sanity will prevail.
1 x Canbra - a huge feather in the NST cap

Outlier and not - MK, surely they must be in the mixer no matter the recent prez departure.

Can't see Canberra getting in if they join the A League. Surely they'll want clear air for a new team.

Looks like they are still pursuing a spot for 2025.

Melbourne Knights official club statement re NST.
https://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/club-statement-on-the-announcement-of-the-national-second-tier-competition/

The Melbourne Knights Football Club welcomes Football Australia’s announcement this week of a National Second Tier, slated to begin in early 2025.

As one of the handful of clubs that has for years been championing the need for the establishment of a National Second Division, we have been instrumental in the discussion to date and believe we still have an important part to play in a National Second Tier in Australia.

Less than two months ago the footballing public were able to witness what a National Second Tier would look like at Knights Stadium, as the club was able to reignite the interest of its fanbase as over 5,000 turned out for our historic Australia Cup fixture against the Brisbane Roar. The match highlighted the strengths of our club and what our brand of football would be able to bring to a national competition.

Competing in a National Second Tier is an important long-term goal of the club and although our desire to return to the national stage is high, at this point in time, we do not believe it to be in the club’s best interest. During the RFP (Request for Proposal) phase, the club identified a number of key elements it found to be of concern, which was the main driver for the club electing not to formally complete the RFP.

We will continue to engage with Football Australia over the coming months to work through these concerns, and we remain hopeful of a positive outcome not only for our club, but football in Australia, through our inclusion to the National Second Tier in 2025.

I reckon Brisbane United and Sunshine Coast Fire are almost certain...  I dont think Canberra has much interest matey if they get an A league franchise. that geographically represents something there.   Of the rest I wanna see Adelaide City, Knights, Bergers and South Hobart....

JJ did say they have more than enough still interested parties and I am hoping 2-4 clubs is him being conservative and it is in fact 6 new clubs joining for the 2025 season....

Depending on how broadcast negotiations go I wouldn't be surprised if FA uses this money to seed a few of the "on the fence" clubs to make this work....

I paid for some shares, but they had to refund it because there was some red-tape they hadn't gone through.

I guess they can move on it now. ?

Yep Canberra isn't coming in unless:
A) It's in the A-League or
B) an existing NPL side into NST, and there's honestly just no money for that. The only one I can see doing so is Croatia/Deakin.

yer thats a fair one to add plus the recent 2/3 Qld Clubs mentioned in another thread that I wish could all stay in this thread.
I threw in Canbra as a huge "spinna" that sure its likely a APL contract that imo I think what a risk being what you pay up front compared to a NPL Club supported by some ogarlord or 3 at far less a cost and a good barometer looking ahead to establish the Club in the NST.
Makes more logical sense $$wise and growing support for the game there grass roots and NPL's.

Well it's the conclusion of this part of the process. Those clubs now have the security of a place and can seek appropriate sponsors, upgrades etc., same with the league itself. Sponsors jumping on next season while they're still in the NPL. And the window is open again to new bids. Can you imagine that now the thing is real, a couple of clubs that didn't bid in the first instance now getting benefactors on board for a bid... exciting times. Loading up for a serious launch in 2025. The club presidents/CEOs etc. are very courageous making the leap. Who knows how big it will be, but it won't fail.

Having 8 clubs with 18 months to prepare is only a good thing and it's only a good place to start for the league.

Why announce before you have 12 teams? Because you've got 8 and there's no value in hiding it.

Also, gives those maybe on the fence a bit of a kick up the bum that it is forging ahead and they better commit for fear of missing out... NSL starting all those decades ago was no different....  It took a relatively small, plucky club like Mooroolbark to take the leap of faith before South, Alexander and JUST committed to "the experiment"

18 x months is a decent amount of time for existing clubs to get their ducks in a row and I would assume anyone else wanting to jump on the bandwagon will do so sooner rather than latter...

To me, seems to be following that great Australian Football tradition of letting excellent stand in the way of good.

And maybe at this point in time excellent is out of reach....

BTW for anyone interested, and its 98 pages... but the following link is the 2023 Annual Review by FA including financials. [pages 11 to 17]

As an aside the pie chart on page 17, showing the investment in our national teams I found interesting.

Enjoy if into these reports,
