Gotsta say, but for some bad catching and weather out last 12 months of test cricket may have been very different…

+xFair to assume $cience has determined C19 can’t live on a cricket ball from the time an infected player touches it to the time the next player does???… Perhaps they jab the ball with something safe and effective so it’s stops infection and transmission… Great to Carey being responsible and wearing gloves… The government doesn't care about transmission to people who have demonstrated they can handle C19 without the need for hospitalisation. Have you learnt nothing yet?

+xMock, can you please do the maths to confirm flat earth… Planet allegedly rotates at 460m a second… If Burtos bomb takes say 4-5 seconds from boot to ground… 40m up… 40m forward… no wind… What Street in Belmore should the ball land when kicking 1 toward the train line 2 away from the train line… This is too hard.... How about we just hoot Burton out to simplify things? If he's a flat earther, it says alot about him not "seeing things" on a footy field.....

Trump watch:
So $80+m to an 80 yr old and I suspect somewhere between $250m-$500m or more in the NY civil fraud trial within days.
I told yous all 4 years ago this would be Trump’s life and the downfall of Trump inc over the next decade or so and it’s only just the beginning. Once the real big players are satisfied he’ll never regain the presidency again, which at the moment their holding their breath out of fear or favour, they’ll start jumping in too to get their cut before the carcass is picked dry.
I suspect, strongly, he’s going to jail too, the only thing capable of stopping it, and indeed further civil actions from the big boys (the fear or favour thing) is again the presidency.
And while I doubt very much he’ll get it, I don’t discount it completely because he’s got MAGA locked in and they will vote so there’s 30% or so of the vote. And the Democrats have their problems too, the largest of which is they are a disgustingly corporate party, even more so amazingly than the Republicans these days. And politics is binary so any moderates who hate them for that, there’s a chance maybe a big chance they’ll hold their nose and vote Republican.
Really, the corporate Dems don’t deserve power, and what The Republicans will wake up to one day, probably after the next election, is that once they ditch Trump and MAGA they’ll rule for decades and it’ll be the Dems that have to change, something they don’t really have to do now - thanks to Trump and MAGA.
I predict if Trump isn’t in jail from The Fed J6 trial (and I think he will be) he’ll definitely will be out of Georgia - they have mandatory sentences and Trump’s staring at them all.
Trump inc will be dissolved within a few years and his two sons Dumb and Dumber will also see jail time for fraud.
Remember who predicted all this as opinions become facts.

Joseph got all the credit for the WI win, and deservedly so, in that truly amazing Test match - no other form of cricket and really no other sport can match that when it’s on.
But the WI really won when they were 5-60 odd on the first day. How they got to 300 plus is where it was won and full credit to… Whatsisname and the other bloke.
I’m hoping this is the beginning of something special and I’ll know those names without having to Google next time.
Because Test cricket is something special when The Windies have something to say about it.

RFM gone to the Dragons.
It’s strange timing. Obviously training with the team caused some issues. But why wait until now?
Hopefully we sign a prop.

Hopefully we sign a prop. I suggest we waited to find someone to take him so it didn’t affect the cap as much as it would have..

Hopefully we sign a prop. RFM and CC were rumoured to have fallen out, over RFM thinking CC was too tough on a struggling player. Rumours that the club was looking to move him on, probably mutual. Still a nice guy and a good player for us over the years, but time to move on.

Seems to me, you love the format and you love the contest brewing over 4 or 5 days with suspense building up..... It could be a game of lawn bowls and you'll have the same feeling. Invested emotions. Me, I can appreciate Test match cricket just like any other game. I certainly don't rate it any higher than rugby league. As for the Windies, again, you like the idea of the game being contested by more than 3 countries. You are sentimental about the sport in the early 90s. Nothing wrong with that notion, except it's a rarity nowadays. And that, you must accept.

Still a nice guy and a good player for us over the years, but time to move on. I'm not fussed. Seemed nice enough person when my son and I met him but never liked the Shaun Lane trade in the first place and other than a handful of good games he has been a liability in the last 5 or so years. Our prospects for '24 were bad even before this departure so I hope it's not used as an excuse if we are floundering at the bottom of the ladder all season....

That’s a sport you play shit-faced for giggles down the club. And the 90’s are the last thing on my mind, I’m talking about the now and future. F***in’ Viv Richard’s and Michael Holding ain’t coming back. You make a comment thinking you’re showing you know what someone is thinking, when in fact you’re showing you’re not thinking at all.

Relax mate.... You're the one that made the comment that no other sport in the world can match the finish of that game....(your opinion and fair enough). You also mentioned Test cricket doing well when the WI are involved. Again, your opinion and quite obviously based on the halcyon years of 80s and 90s. It was an exciting game with the underdog knocking off a more fancied opponent against the odds. It's not unique to cricket, however since Tests are not played often, it will remembered for a long time. I'm not having a go at you. I just think the stakes feel larger in a contest that takes longer to play out and is played less frequently than other sports. It doesn't mean other sports don't have the same or more excitement factor.....

I also think that trials can be a guide to how the season will pan out.
Ideally what we want is young relatively unknown players looking like NRL standard players in the trails.

I’m a not so much on the trials indicating how things may pan out… waaaay to many variables… it would be just as reasons to say I can pick how a team will go based on their roster… there’s always a surprise packet.. there’s always a flop…
So many teams are relying on 1 bloke to stay fit… and it’s likely that one bloke will play limited if any minutes during the trials…

Has our ruck speed improved? Has our tackling improved? Roll off and into marker? Depth in attack. Hitting ball up with numbers or still just one out stuff? There's more than enough to see to determine how the team will fair throughout the season. The stuff I mentioned above you can change a the click of a finger. You have to train for it and probably need the whole off season to do it (maybe 2 off seasons). I'm not phased by the individual performances too much. It's the team performance I'm interested in.
