Good news the team list for the first trial is named.
Hutch and Burto in the halves, Sexton on the bench, Hayward and O'Neil on an extended bench.
I can't see the young halves getting many minutes...
Taffee at fullback and likely to be fir first choice round 1.
Overall a fairly strong side....
And I have nearly worked out what "Swifties" are.... :)

I can't see the young halves getting many minutes... Taffee at fullback and likely to be fir first choice round 1. Overall a fairly strong side.... And I have nearly worked out what "Swifties" are.... :) Interesting re Hutch/Sexy… Ttaaffee makes sense for mine… As for swiftes I live with 4… I said to them the other day it was cute how she picked her new man cos the number on his back reconciled with being her 87th boyfriend… I look forward to her next single Kansas Pity or something like that when they part ways…

I wouldn’t worry about King leaving. He is a cert to sign on for a long time. It would be very beneficial if we could hurry it up though to get him as cheap as possible.

First half review. Playing intelligent patient footy, it's good to see. Unfortunate about the last try to storm but you could see that coming, good on them though, it worked.

+xI thought the young blokes did an exemplary job and it was entertaining for a 'NSW cup' match. Second half was always going to be like that. We have some good players to add, Kicks, Critter, Foxy, Kiraz, etc. Next trial NRL round 1 players should get more minutes. Halfback might be hard to split.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game and even though it was a trial I am absolutely convinced we've turned the corner. We'll lose some games but I reckon we'll win more. Great depth and abundance of experience this year. Skelton looked awesome, Xerri too and Faamusili is a beast.

Burton will need to pull his finger out or he will end up being replaced.
Our young forwards impressed me. Hughes and Todd were machines. And Faumisili and Kautoga owned their spots. Very good against a reserve grade side. Looking forward to seeing them play in the first few rounds.
Still our lack of strike with so much possession was a worry. Taaffe cost us four try’s. He just needs to make the right decisions. Xeri should play round one with that effort. Although young Clark was as good or better, but clearly needs time.
I like our style of play and defensive system. Hopefully the boys can do it against real opposition.

Its a trial…
Some really positive stuff…
Main take away for mine is Hutch looks like a robot… Sexy looks like a footy player…

While it was only a trail and mostly reserve graders in the second half, our young reserve graders looked better than the Storm. Our forwards looked OK in that game, Hughes was the player I hoped he would be. The others delivered as expected. Not sure about Knight a couple of errors, if Patolo/Sutton comes back and plays well Knight needs a good performance next trail. The young unknown guys in the backs were good. I don't count Wilson and Skelton as unknown, they also looked good. Some slick tries by us, and Wilson should good on the dance floor. Scoring a try like that beating the other dude pointless is great to watch.

Just watched the replay of the game and it was pleasing to see us do well in attack and defence.
I was happy seeing players in motion, deep backline plays but most of all I liked what I saw from Hutch and Taaffe who played eyes up footy instead of premeditated plays.
I also liked what I saw in defence with tacklers releasing and getting back to marker quickly.
This being a trial meant lots of interchanges and lots of positional changes. We seemed to transition well and didn't miss a beat.
Only low points were seeing Perham tested and seated next to Crichton (I'm concerned CC is saving him) and Liam Knight having a shocker pushing passes and spilling balls.
Other than that, I was impressed.
Xerri did well for his first game back in a long time. Salmon just about cemented the 13 jersey. Curran will be benched.
It looks like it will be Xerri -Chrichton in the centres with Taaffe at FB and Burton -Hutch in the halves although Sexton played well too and will keep the pressure.
Competition is hot. I'd ultimately like to see Hutch-Sexton in the halves but I'm sure CC will only do that if he has no choice

Storm didn't have a full strength forward pack, their 3 best middles didn't play. Out of their first choice spine only Paps played. That doesn't devalue what we did, at full strength it would be a good contest IMO. We would certainly do better than previous seasons. I hope we play against some quality big middles next game, that will be a good test for our defence.
