+xAt this rate the next 5 world cups will be in qatar In any case maybe its easier to qualify if we get a chance each year More exposure to youth football can only be a good thing, u17 football should be about development anyway. I wonder if it might trigger the return of the AIS again.

In light of the recent news that the next U17 Joeys cohort will be touring Italy in April, I've decided to list a few players to keep an eye on for selection. Granted, I'm not 100% sure about the Australian/European based player ratio but I expect this to be a chance to nail down a lot of the European dual citizenship players whilst in Europe and get them amongst the system, something we haven't done and needed to in previous age-groups. This is a very exciting Joey's cohort with an eligibility of Jan 1st 2008 - Dec 31st 2010, though, it's unlikely we see any 2010 born players during this cycle. This tour will help establish a basis for the upcoming U17 Asian Cup qualifiers in October. This list only scratches the surface and lot's of talent yet to be discovered.
David Bolongi (2008) - Gold Coast Knights Israel Monga (2008) - Murray United Marcus Neill (2008) - Sunderland Noah Slunjski (2008) - Hajduk Split Danilo Treffiletti (2008) - AC Monza Gianluca Okon (2009) - Club Brugge Chris Irakoze (2009) - Adelaide United Amlani Tatu (2008) - Adelaide United Harrison Bond (2009) - RB Salzburg Younes Ibrahim (2008) - Brighton and Hove Albion
Quin MacNicol (2008) - Brisbane Roar William Millwood (2009) - Partizan Charlie Davidson (2009) - VVV-Venlo Noah Clement (2009) - Eintracht Frankfurt

Patrick Yazbek, Ryan Teague and Jacob Farrell have been replaced by Jordi Valadon, Paul Okon-Engstler and Franco Lino for the upcoming Olyroos WAFF tournament. Yazbek due to availability and Teague and Farrell due to injury. Thankfully, we have some good depth because we are going into this tournament super raw losing like our best 15 players. We've lost the whole starting lineup and nearly every backup as well, it's actually becoming funny now. I like the Paul Okon introduction and I think he could sneak his way into the final squad. Notable omissions: Volpato, Robertson, Bilokapic, Peupion, Triantis, Nieuwenhof, Irankunda, Tilio, Jelacic, Toure, Botic, Teague, Farrell, Yazbek, Bos, Circati, Simmons, Rawlins, Trewin, Chipperfield

Everyone can come back for the Matildas for the Olympic qualifier. Why can't the Olymroos be the same?!! 4 years ago we had mainly A league squad also and still qualified for Tokyo. Why is it so much trouble this time? Shouldn't even send this squad to WAFF it is a waste of time and money. Now I understand why The Matildas fans look down on men team a lot

If I'm correct I believe the Olyroos play their first game of the WAFF in 12 hours. Don't quote me because the time listings are all different and there hasn't been any word on if it's being broadcasted or anything.

Olympics draw is tomorrow morning our time (6am AEDT) Pot 1France AFC 1 AFC 2 Argentina Pot 2 Spain New Zealand Paraguay Morocco Pot 3USA Egypt AFC 3 Mali Pot 4Dominican Republic Israel Ukraine AFC 4 v Guinea Interestingly, the draw procedures actually seeded this based off past Olympic performances since 2004 (100% of 2020, down to 20% 0f 2004)

+xThought lineups would be announced by now Seems like Football Aus aren't bothering about this tournament which they've been known to do in the past.

Found the lineup:
1. Beach 2. Italiano 3. Natta 4. Bility 5. Mauragis 6. Okon Jr 7. D'Arrigo 8. Youlley 9. Segecic 10. Velupillay 11. A. Kuol
Poor lineup but it is what it is. I assume most of these players are on the outskirts of selection so it's worth trying them out but holy shit... It's evident we will start a completely different lineup next game.

+xstill waiting for the youtube to start is it just me? Yeah seems like they aren't streaming it. I know Iraqi TV is streaming it which shows how bad and far behind Australian media is next to the rest of the world. Every other country would have some sort of representation but Australia, there isn't anything, not even an update that the tournament is happening. All we get is a squad announcement on the same out-dated FA website that hasn't changed it's overlay since 2008. Invest in something.

+xCouple of errors at the end of the half creeped in when playing out the back Yeah Natta and Bility aren't the best players in possession of the ball or playing out of the back so having both on at the same time makes me nervous. Makes some subs at half-time. Surely we get Garang at some point, also want to see Milanovic tear it up. Love to see Popovic debut and possibly Waddingham

How did some of the newbies go in youlley, segecic (aside from the assist) and okon? Okon and Youlley were both strong, good movement and good passing range. Segecic was probably best player that half, strong throughout and helped in defence. I recommend watching on youtube as you can rewind if you miss something. Also, better quality.
