+x+xThis is proof that Burto is our best half. We looked lost with him in the centres. Unfortunately we looked terrible with Critta at fullback.
Taafe out next week. Tracy I hope is at the back. Kiraz and Wilson wing. Critta and Xeri centres. Sexy and Burto time.
Our props are looking better. Hughes and King were by far our best. But Patolo and Curran give us decent size. Mann cert to start with Salmon bench utility. Unless Presto has another week off.
We have a young side. We should have been flogged by fifty tonight. We won. Well done boys. Just watched the presser Mann has a broken hand, Tracey a calf and Edwards is hopefully cleared of a major injury, but is likely to miss a couple of weeks. So we are scratching around for a side Critter might go better at fullback with a week of training. Fox will be back, so Wilson and Fox on the wings, Kirax and Xerri in the centres. Forwards wise there is no obvious replacement for Edwards. Maybe move Hutch to the bench and play him in the forwards, or promote Hayward or a relative unknown. The other option is move Curran to the second row and bring back Knight. Easy. Bring back Knight.

Really looking forward to the team named next week. A few injuries and HIA’s will help stretch our depth and push for places.
I was happy with KK. He was poor but you can see the talent. Just overwhelmed. Hopefully better next week.
Our backline can be better with a few changes. Xeri centre. Critta centre. Fox wing Kiraz wing. Papali debut. Deserves it. It’s time.

All 3 not much experience organising an NRL defence. Favouring Critter is the fact that he has experience in the position I doubt that our second half collapse had a lot to do with Critter at fullback.

But is 7 games organising an NRL sides defence from the back and a few on lower grades of more value than organising dozens of more game from the back in lower grades???... Can't blame Critter for the second half... We just couldn't wrest any momentum back resulting in a lack of composure, lost out best kicker to centre when we really needed it... Add some poor errors on both sides of ball... The usual stuff that if we could turn around could've been on 2 more wins... We're closing the gap though...

The two major factors in the second half were the reshuffle messing with the attack but most importantly Robbos visit to the refs dressing room.

We won. Fuck the Chickens!

happy to see xerri bend the line
wanted to see sexton come in as the dominate half but he showed some nice shape
obviously hutch is wanted to run the ball and dig into the line and as said is done
riddled with injuries now
really need to refocus and get back to that first 30mins of form footy
we showed so much go forward lines being run and exciting footy being played
thought kikau was out best but he was simply dominating the left edge early

+xI'm glad we weathered the onslaught because Manu's try was a double movement at best... GO DOGS I thought that the Manu try was 50/50. I was surprised that the bunker didn't have a long look. That type of play is typically called a double movement. The arm holding the ball touched the ground short of the line then he lifted up the arm. But the 2nd and 5th Roosters tries were soft. 2nd try a big forward with no momentum close to the try line,we had 3 defenders but they were too passive and some how dropped off. Last try we had 3 defenders but Hutch over chased and missed somehow the other 2 also missed. The 4th Roosters try was a clean miss of the ball, then some great skill and a bit of luck for the Chooks. Then there were the dropped balls and penalties that gave Roosters a chance and we definitely dropped our intensity. We definitely played our part in their comeback.

If we have done the first 30 mins once, we can do it again
Taaffe went off after 26 mins, that is when we started to lose momentum.
Dman might be right moving Burton and changing the left edge was a factor.
Tracey was also injured.
In that game moving Kiraz to fullback was the only other option.

Looking back we had Just as much disruptions as they did I didn’t realise that a lot of players were playing with injuries during the second half so iwe did well to hold them back and yes a couple of thirst tries were questionable as well..

Whilst there is no doubting Tedesco and Walker are good players they have limitations. Tedesco is a hog and Walker overplays his hand as well. That takes some of the plays away from Keary. He is for mine the strength of the Rorters and given the absence of the other two it enabled him to step up. Great player and the Roter's strength for mine. Young should be looking at a long suspension if they are fair dinkum and I don't like the way Radley jumped in the air before coming down on Crichton. Probably get a fine or a week but for mine deserves more. Tupanua is a totally shit overrated beyond belief player. The new guys all did well. If Mann has a broken hand he may be out...but I hope not. Curran, Salmon and Mann will all do me.

I never got to watch the first half live and saw a replay later. The chooks got nervous the way we were carving them up and it looked suspiciously like Robinson put out the word to start taking our playmakers out. The reshuffle after the Taaffe incident really stole our momentum, and the ref letting the chooks 1%ers go unchecked plus a few dubious calls nearly got us. As has been already said Hutch is not the answer at half, also critta has shown he is not a FB and Burton at centre stuffed our attack, maybe at penriff it worked but we are not penriff. dman's call for Sexton to partner Burton is now looking a good call and cc needs to be very clever on how to re-organise the side given the injuries. Maybe the move to buy so many utilities at the start of the season was a cunning plan after all. Let's see how we fair next week.

It's a 'nice' way to move Hutch this week, explaining with all the outs we need his durability at 14... The Critter to FB thing seriously weakens our most potent attacking edge and is not worth it for mine... The Fish can stay on the edge with Curran to 13... Then when Presto is back the fish to bench or second grade...

Then when Presto is back the fish to bench or second grade... I am now in total agreement with.. FB - Wilson or Papalli. HB - Sexton. Hutch filling in in the forwards or off the bench as needed. Kiks also picked up a knock in that Chooks game. This is the type of season where sooner or later every club is going to need to call on their depth and give some young players a shot. Most seasons are but I think this one is more intense and the Chooks game was a marker, This season most clubs know effort and intensity can be the difference between win and loss. I expect that Taaffe may only miss one week, better to give a young guy a shot. The other reason to play Sexton and Papalli is that we need to move the ball and play footy against the Storm otherwise their defence can smother us. Our game last season is an example of what can happen. I also don't mind Skelton in the extended squad and perhaps as a late addition to the bench, but Hayward is a better defender. We need to roll the dice and definitely attack, but still retain some defensive grit. With Mann probably out, Curran and Samon are more important along with possibly Hutch or Hayward off the bench. Lachlan Vale is a young second rower who racked up a lot of tackles in reserve grade a week or two ago. If the coaches think he is ready then throw him in. After the Storm game Morrin, Taaffe and Edwards will hopefully be back. Perhaps Mann and another prop after the bye. I don't know what is happening with Topine, he still seems to be in the top 30, but is never selected in any sides or mentioned as injured. If he hasn't left the club he might resurface at anytime.

Actually does look like Topine has left the club, not in the squads on the Dogs Web page.
I'm 50/50 on this, he really played with passion, but got shown up badly defending in the centres last season. Not a role that suited him.

Update from Gus on injuries.
King and Kiks getting X-rays hopefully nothing.
7 players injured in total Patolo a minor stinger which explains his limited minutes.
Mann likely 4 weeks.
Edwards buldging disk, seems more serious not expecting him back until after the bye.
Tracey torn calf, getting scans.
We have got better depth this season and we will need it.
I am glad we won, a loss with that injury toll would be even worse.
