We really don’t take these tournaments seriously…
Dower u17 and Blayney u20 have been the hc coaches for many years and have achieved absolutely nothing.
The only WCs we have qualified for was when they expanded one tournament to 4 Asian spots and the other was when North Korea lost a WC spot because of sanctions and australia was promoted.

No McMahon, Caspers, Brooking or Kuilamu N/A.

Lots of players around aus that are much better than those selected imo.

2-0 down in 10 minutes.

4 nil now

Its a real worry how quickly the world has caught up.

Our matildas are like the golden mens generation. The world is developing much faster than us and we might fall behind quickly

Japan girls have always been miles ahead of us haven't they? They've won a world cup pretty recently and runner up at another. Also silver medalled at an Olympics. We've never done anything despite having a top 10 team for a long time.

China have also lost a World Cup final in the womens game and got a Silver medal at an olympics.

Seems to me that our women's football career stream is too new for us to be expecting much from it. The wleague gave very limited options (low visibility, short season and few teams) and the aleagues women's competition is still an infant with a few more options.

Watching the last U17s games we just looked to be a normal park side playing seriously for fun. Our passing and combinations were not a professional level.

It is only once girls see that there is a viable career path, and commit their lives to it that we can expect to see results flow.

The men's U17s have had that career path in some form 'forever', and for those who are good at football it has been a possible, while not guaranteed, option.

I think it will be several more years before we see the Matildas effect resulting in young girls who are good at football choosing to stay with it as they grow up and actually reach our view in national setups.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Beaten by Thailand, another new low. 0 wins - 3 losses.

its hard to read into u17 results

however, I do worry that we could end up even further behind in the womans game than the mens before we know it
