Like, they don't put ads in the papers do they? Friends are free? Or do you have to enter via a backdoor after 10pm?

   Not taking anything away from Imno, but I played horribly. So many mistakes, poor passes. He was at his best, I was below my worst. It was never going to be pretty.

Here's an updated table. This doesn't include my games today with tiny... scores need to be confirmed. I've created a new thread for this.Edited by martyB: 17/4/2009 03:57:00 PM

I raced out and picked up a Blu-Ray movie, got home, whacked it in the PS3, pressed play.... NOT.HIGH.DEF. >.<
My console is set to 1080p (as my LCD monitor is progressive not interlaced) and the movie itself is progressive.
The picture was grainy - so im presuming it's my HDMI cable which I picked up for $20. Can anyone recommend a decent and affordable HDMI cable? Or is there some setting Ive overlooked? Marty did you get this sussed out?

Nah, I haven't watched a bluray since.
What's also pissing me off is that during the movie, some scenes the picture changes from 2.35:1 to 16:9.
Another concern with the console is, for example, I put MLB09 and I tell the console to force 1080p (games native res is 720) yet it won't. Same with GTA4 (native is 1080p). Yet Call Of Duty:WAW, it automatically sets to full hi def. CBFd calling sony though.

Nah, it's a HD LCD monitor that I use on my PC.
It's a BenQ E2200.

Yes. But when I set it to 1080, the playstation resets it to 720.

Yeah.
I check what res the game is being run at by checking the monitor settings. Ive called the BenQ techs and they say the monitor sets itself to whatever res is being put into the monitor. So it's the console.

Your HDMI cable should be ok,it doesn't need to be V1.3 for PS3 to a Full-HD LCD TV (although to a monitor?not a PC guru..),you say your PS3 resets itself to 720p when you set it to 1080p?

maybe the PS3 has an issue? :-k It shouldn't reset itself. JB has Soniq HDMI cables for $54 which are good,$40-45 if they like you..;)

 I feel like the Salve salesman from Ren and Stimpy..."a little dab'll do ya!'
I doubt you need one though Marty,HDMI cables usually work or don't,and the quaility of it shouldn't alter the settings....but if you want one dude,in the Games section of JB there's one for about $25-30 that's good,I've sold a ton of them in the past with TV's when we were out of stock of the brand name ones, and had no complaints.I'm in a new store now, kinda forgot about these ones.I can't think of the brand of it right now..

Thats the game marty. Some games don't upscale the resolution whilst others do. I've noticed some games I've played go to 720 because thats the res they are. But other games "upscale" to 1080.
Don't stress about it.
Download Wipeout and see if you get 1080p with that. If you don't, then you have a problem. (since its like the only game thats 1080p and 60fps)
