+xI think Brazil lacks "the" good managers of the past as well. They have also revisted same managers 2/3 times - yep good ones who had varied great results BUT no new next Gen managers I note anywhere that is getting any headlines unless I'm mistaken....... yer these Qrtr's are going to be fiesty no doubt about them. The rage boils through those veins, I reckon some must struggle so much not to retaliate knowing the red will come out pronto. The 2 games today are both 11am, whereas July 7 one at 8am the other 11am, odd. Venezuela v Canada is tomorrow at 11am mate :)

cheers MSC. MCG, yer well nice to have that kind of hope/romance of the game but I can't see it over 90mins. Mind you I have the game on no sound on my office desk, Ecuador have created 2/3 top chances just now. They have come out of the starting gates fast as expected, Argies yet to settle and make an attack. Argies have a clean sheet no GA whole tournament so far.

How does VAR not ask the ref to have another look at the penalty handball? Looked to me like de Paul's arms were in front of his body when the ball hit them.

Ok I’m going to be controversial here the last great Brazilian national team was in 2006, they haven’t had a team that’s been that world class since that team. For a great footballing country Brazil seems to be on the decline which is sad.

Ok I’m going to be controversial here the last great Brazilian national team was in 2006, they haven’t had a team that’s been that world class since that team. For a great footballing country Brazil seems to be on the decline which is sad. I actually think you could be right and the start of the decline in unity class but status overhang forever and the day. Cafu Ronaldo Ronaldinho Kaka etc once they retired there have only so few who could hold a candle as good. They haven’t a striker anywhere as good since. A backline nowhere near of that era let alone the midfield. A lot more individuals and not the team sync “joga bonito” they had.

You are right about the contrast, im find most uefa matches too tame and friendly. Maybe it is my rugby league background, but i feel I need a bit of scrap!

Euro the conservatives haha Grazer even though some say hoof ball back in the 60/70’s maybe longer in euro more so UK there was lots of skilful players but the tackling was heavy robust and you never showed it hurt you, you wouldn’t dare much like the modern days. Whereas re this thread play acting has been part and parcel of their game to gain any advantage they could.

When uruguay bring back the biff they have the skill to make it feel like a more varied than the human cross country chess you see at the euros When dundee united bring the biff without the skill i feel like clawing my eyes out watching it

I mean Dungas first stint was diabolical... OK they won Copa in 2007 and got to Quarters at the WC in Sth Africa but nothing much for ages after that... I still think 2014 was their second maracanazo moment... they are a shell of who they where late 90s-early 2000s.
