My traditional hijacking of a thread to talk about uniforms hahaha Saw this today (the team photo for the French Olympic football team) What's interesting about it you say? Well... they're in the same boat as the Australian Olympic team: The FFF is signed with Nike (and run the Olympic football team), however the France Olympic Committee is signed up with Le Coq Sportif. The Australian FA is with Nike, as we all know - but the AOC is with Asics. Why am I making this comparison? Well... the different ways around this by both Olympic Committees. For Australia, this means when the Matildas and Olyroos (and also the Boomers, Opals, etc) qualify and play at the Olympic Games, they wear bespoke Asics uniforms. France however, (at least for Football) are using the same kits at the Olympics as the Football team would outside the Olympics - with the only modification being the French crest (no gold cockerel like at the Euros - it's the French Olympic Committee's sporting cockerel instead). BUT off the field, they are given Olympic Le Coq Sportif gear (training, tracksuits, etc). Will make the pre-game anthems interesting - will Nike have made anthem jackets with this logo as well? Or are they going to take off a Le Coq Sportif jacket, with the Nike kits underneath?

I just see the Olympics as a smorgesboard of many sports I normally wouldn't make any time for :) If I'm awake at the time I'll watch or whatever put on something else. Wherever there's an Aussie sure happy they do well, though I'll watch football hands down and many other sports compared to the Aussie syncronised swimming team..... TBH glad its a little late night/or early morn filla before the new season starts come August :)

Although I'd love to watch the Matilda's play, the time difference is a gonna be a bit of a deal-breaker for me. Thu 26 July - Germany v Australia - 3am (eastcoast time) Sun 28 July - Australia v Zambia - 3am (eastcoast time) Wed 31 July - Australia v USA - 3am (eastcoast time)

Don't think I'll find myself getting up for much of that. Except for maybe the USA game if it's winnable. But I'd like a good night sleep before my birthday hahaha. Agreed on the smorgasbord of sports I wouldn't normally watch. I've done my second update of a childhood book that outlines rules for literally almost any sport. Great Olympic handbook.

I won’t be getting up for anything but I’ll watch all soccer minis and whatever’s on live in terms of other sports. Is the schedule friendly? Haven’t checked.

The inforgraphic/sheet, not breakdancing as an Olympic sport. Can these be downloaded somewhere? Would be great for my kids as I'm trying to get them into sport more, so to help explain the rules and so on.

Who has it FTA ? 7 I suppose. Do we know what will be shown any scheduling ? Apart from Matilda’s like to see some of our Aussie golf team for we have some top players in it - even though they are Pros. Has Stan provided what they will be showing ? Forgive me I’m not a Stan subscriber at this stage.

Forgive me I’m not a Stan subscriber at this stage. Nine has it. I'm just paying for stan for a month. I'll watch what I can live everything else I can watch on replay. I recommended getting the Olympics app and just making notes what you want to watch. I assume as always the popular sports will be on normal tv

+xGermany lose 3:0 to Iceland in pre Olympic practice game. It was a Euro qualifier wasnt it? Germany had already qualified, so the result I guess doesnt matter, but theyve been in pretty average form outside of the Olympic qualifier where they won away to Holland.

Now that you mention it I think that's right. I saw a headline saying Olympic test failure but it was a dead rubber in that sense. Game against Austria in Hannover tomorrow night.

9Now, being the free 9 app, I assume will only show events that 'must' be shown on FTA as per the anti-siphoning list (such as the Matildas games, as one example) and all the Australian events. Given that Stan has hubs for Team GB and Team USA coverage (among other countries), I expect ALL events - regardless of who is competing or if they sit on the anti-siphoning list, to be on Stan (non-Matildas group stage games, as one example) EDIT: Although interestingly the media release from 9 a few weeks ago says this, so maybe they are making all events available on 9Now: --- With 9Now streaming every moment of every event free and in full HD across more than 40 dedicated channels, viewers will experience 24/7 Olympics coverage across Channel 9HD and 9GemHD by Australia’s most accomplished television hosting team: Channel 9- 6.30am-11.00am AEST: Sarah Abo and Karl Stefanovic, as Australia wakes up
- 11.00am-12.00pm AEST: 9News bulletin
- 12.00pm-3.00pm AEST: Todd Woodbridge capturing the magic moments of the day
- 3.00pm-7.00pm AEST: Leila McKinnon and Dylan Alcott as live sport begins
- 6.00pm-7.00pm AEST: 9News state bulletins
- 7.00pm-1.00am AEST: Ally Langdon and James Bracey with all the prime-time action
- 1.00am-6.30am AEST: Eddie McGuire from Paris including competition Finals
9Gem- 5.00pm-10.00pm AEST: Sylvia Jeffreys
- 10.00pm-3.00am AEST: Nick McArdle
- 3.00am-8.00am AEST: Sam McClure
- 8.00am-5.00pm AEST: Hosted long-form replays

Im not a massive golf nut but play occasionally and watch whenever there is nothing else on but the Olympics golf was pretty lame when Is aw it during the Brazil Olympics (last time I bothered to watch)
