+x+xPopa's press conference left me with a sense of optimism for sure. Calls on more dynamism and speed of play are a good start. Now let's hope he can follow through and find a very simple yet effective way to set these guys up to best showcase their skills. We're not asking for much. If anyone thought this regime will be any different to Arnold then please explain how a failed manager at both NT youth level and A league club level and someone currently running a coffee shop in Brugge gets a gig as assistant. Some on here are hoping its isnt different at all...

+x+x+xSocceroos management is imploding: "Assistant Coaches René Meulensteen and Luke Wilkshire, Goalkeeper Coach John Crawley, Head of Sports Science Fabian Ehrmann, Senior Technical Analyst Adam Barbera and Advisor Michael Zappone will no longer be involved with the senior men’s national team." https://www.socceroos.com.au/news/subway-socceroos-coaching-staff-updateI know when a coach leaves, it's common to clear out his team, and for the new coach to bring in his team of coaching staff. But we have a game against China and Japan in a couple of weeks, and we're already struggling in the Qualifiers. Not sure if there's time to build a team while the ship is sinking? Look I agree but let’s not throw the dummy out of the pram and look at this a little open minded. Maybe this is what’s needed fingers crossed !!!!!!! Players may get excited by the fresh paint - everything is on the line from here on so it’s all to play for with a lot more gutso and more enthusiasm. Everyone is on notice chance to cement a spot unlike before knowing they’d be on the bench. . Even the rusted on players in ‘leadership group’ should be on notice for a change. Ryan, leckie, behich etc. I can't see Behich or Leckie playing again. Ryan will probably stay unless Langerak comes back to the NT - even then he is older than Ryan so it should come down to game time, performance and quality of the league they play in.

+x+x+xNot surprised Wilkshire has gone - he has virtually no coaching experience, and has lacked insight as a commentator compared to the others, but really surprised about Rene? Vastly experienced and has written the Man U Youth Acad curriculum. Luke had a reasonable stint coaching the Wollongong Wolves, 2018-22. Thanks. I stand corrected. And 2019 the Wolves under him were Premiers. He has a academy in the Gong as well.

I just realized we play China in 14 days. How time flies!!!! Not much time for an assessment of players and how they might fit into the team. Good that Poppa has some idea from the time spent at Victory.
Presumably that means the squad is selected sometime next week. Yikes!!!!

+x+xPopa to bring the effniks back to the roos.. Kalik and Arzani to come in! Arzani's Iranian, Hrustic you'd think would be first on the cards, but then again he's Bosnian in heritage so who knows. My bet is Gabriel Popovic is there soon. Naaah, Steve Whitebread to be named captain and all his mates selected. Popa needs to show some humility.

+x+x+x+x+x+xBest thing Popa said today was ‘nobody is entitled to a Roos spot’ maybe he will ditch some of Arnies old favorites Expecting personnel changes under poppa, plus possibly no more club coaches selecting the socceroos team. If the rumours are true and Rudan is indeed assistant coach with Spider as GK coach then .... well..... I guess ...... ? Rudan will not be assistant to anyone. Yes they are all mates, but i cant see Rudan being assistant to Popa. If anything, Kalac will be a GK Coach as Sydney United just sacked him as coach. Tbh I’m loling the quote Cros take over - quite ironic if it was tbh - after all the the GG of ethnics were brilliant no matter the negatives by some here :) By the way I bumped into Rudan just 2wks back at a good golf course and one of my fellow footballing fanatics had a yak with him what he’s up to. He quoted a Jap gig was looming - true or not who knows and I highly doubt as mentioned he’d work under Poppa but Oz football does the strangest things. Macquarie links GC? lol. Jobs for mates, so it wouldn't surprise me. lol not far off - Twin Creeks.

+xHave't read a lot of the comments, but I totally endorse Pop as the senior coach. Contrary to a few MV fans on here, he had them playing good football. Until they went ahead.

I expect personal changes under Popa but all attacking/creative players will be expected to adhere to strict defensive duties.
I expect faster attacking transitions compared to Arnold's teams.
Jury out on how Popa-ball will translate to breaking down low blocks.
I don't expect games under Popa to be particularly entertaining.
