Still would prefer Recoba but I'd accept Jelic, though wouldn't be a big marquee.

I'm signing up for standing membership this year with the missus and my brother, we were members in the first season but until this season hadn't seen any action that warranted our support. That and the stupid clashes with Sunday afternoon football leagues ](*,)

Cautiously optomistic for 09/10.

Oh and Jelic could be a winner me thinks - we deserve a decent Balkan to take over Bobby's mantle after the Mate debacle and Djulbic running away!

to play in the bundesliga, top flight german league, he must be quality ... as long as he has a bit of pace to work well with dadi, thats what we need.

Does anybody know how Dino is going over in Germany, I've looked about on his teams site but that reveals nothing.

Jelic looks the goods and as others have said - he will only be the standard Visa player for us, like Sikora and Dadi are. He WON'T be the marquee. Sheesh we have higher standards these days, as shown by Sikora and Dadi not being Marquees.

We have perhaps, or potentially, the best list of imports in the league. True quality.



According to FourFourTwo's 'Overseas Aussies' section, he has not even featured in a game yet. This is after a few games. One could say it's still early days, but then, it's not like he has just got off the plane. He's been there long enough, training with them, we saw how young Ruka even broke through relatively quickly. Why can't Dino break through into this Bundesliga 2 side, a comp which features the likes of Dario Vidosic and Matthew Spiranovic. Not comparing them to him per say, but it's not like he's as young as they are.

Interesting, once again, reflects how impressive it is that Mark Rudan is seeing regular Swiss Super League action, the same league where Chipperfield stars, yet Glory's former leading CB cannot crack into a moderate Bundesliga 2 side, which I think is like a similar level to that of the Swiss Super League. Granted Rudan is vastly more experienced and even has previous professional experienced in Europe (That went badly, with Aachen I think it was).

So going by results so far, Dino still has some way to go. You could say he left too early, but problem was he was already mid 20s. Came into the A-League a bit late really. One could say that about Sasha Ognenovski too.

Did some basic maths.
Social Teams = 90 teams 9 Divisions
Amature teams = 120 teams 6 Divisions * 1st & resi
Masters Teams = 80 Teams 8 Divisions

Nearly 200 teams in my social team there are about 4 players that would usually go to glory so thers is potentially 800 people who would go some of them would take partners kids friends so you are looking at 1000 people tops. I know this does not include Womens or older age juniors who may play later.

I thought it would be a huge impact but it does not seem that big. Although these would potentially be passionate supporters. I would be interested to see the data on all home games and look at day/time impact on numbers as opposed to winning/quality opposition impact on numbers

last year when one of my games clashed with a glory game .. i actually requested to get subbed off early so i wouldnt miss the game lol .... but with more games being played on sunday arvo now .. its gonna be a pain ... and dont think i can do that all the time now lol

and in regards to jelic ... impressive goal scoring record .... but in comparison to sikora and dadi .... jelic hasnt got any national team caps? ok ok maybe im becoming a bit to picky now with potential future glory players lol

On a side note, I was doing some math on the prices for the friendlies...

If we assume Cook's article was somewhere near the money, and again assuming that there is a sell-out, I reckon the glory has a fair chance of getting something out of this.

Average price $100 * 18,000 (give or take some freebies or what not) = $1,800,000

Of course this doesn't include any costs, including the $1,000,000 Sage said he spent on getting the teams here...

bak to jelic ... there was a good article in the west today .... dave mitch and lui guiliani actually met him and watched him train in their scouting trip over europe ... energie cottbuss agreed to release him so he can play for glory and he and his wife are most likely gonna move over here with their family. And it was mentioned that glory have agreed on terms with the striker ... so the deal is obviously close to getting finalised which is good news.

Also mentioned that former Millwal and Piacenza striker Daniel Severino is currently training with us, and dave mitch is gonna look at him aswell.

Meanwhile, Socceroos winger Mile Sterjovski has opted to reject lucrative offers from Asia to return home to the A-League, where three clubs are vying for his signature. Sterjovski, 29, has been abroad for nine years since leaving former NSL club Parramatta Power, and had spells in France, Switzerland and Turkey before moving to English Championship side Derby County last year. Although he has another year remaining in his contract with the Rams, the club has made it clear it wants to offload its higher wage-earners.

In recent weeks, Sterjovski has received offers from China, South Korea and Japanese side JEF United Chiba, but instead prefers to continue his career in Australia, not least for family reasons.

For several weeks, Perth Glory and Gold Coast United have been vying for his signature, but in the past few days a third club has reportedly entered the race. Perth are considering making Sterjovski their marquee player - but much will depend on negotiations with Uruguayan superstar Alvaro Recoba, who at this stage is the preferred choice. Talks with Recoba were expected to reach a decisive stage overnight.

Gold Coast already have a marquee player for the next three years - Socceroos midfielder Jason Culina - but have offered a deal that would have kept Sterjovski inside the salary cap by steadily increasing his wages over the next three seasons. Despite the attraction of playing alongside best mate Culina, it's believed Sterjovski is less than enthused by the offer.

lol i was indeed .. only because we were a new team in the comp so obviously all new teams start at div 5 ... then we got promoted ... now we in div 4 .. and hopefully looking at getting promoted again.
