lol Ok, Iridium - though you will probably beat me - I'll probably sleep in with day off tomorrow on back of long evening at work and now posting & browsing here. :p

Perhaps not. Force are moving backwards quickly and the way the ARU is setup now you can expect them to finish last amongst the Australian teams for a few seasons going forward. So Glory might not be able to easily match Force's current crowds going forward, but we wont have to, because the Force will probably be further away from those figures in a few years.

Indeed, that is what I was partially angling at too. Force's crowds have slid since S1 and now sustain around a 13-14k average. That is not THAT superior to Glory, either generally and especially not historically, especially during Glory's 'Glory Days'!

Glory could well break through to the double digit, 10k crowd average mark this season, for the first time in it's A-League history and IF it can achieve that, then they will be inching ever closer to not only being 'the Glory of old' but re-claiming their status as the top team/franchise in this venue.

edit: PerthJay, I checked before and this season Force only drew the following crowds:

12,784 hosting the Cheetahs.

11,543 hosting the Rebels

16,758 hosting the Crusaders.

11,972 hosting the Reds.

12,652 hosting the Sharks.

12,508 hosting the Highlanders.

10,198 hosting the Waratahs.

11,000 hosting the Brumbies.

= ~12,427 crowd average.

Far from superior to what Glory even drew last season (8840 apparently? Nib had reducced capacity for a period), let alone their A-League record, 9,734 (S1) and all-time Club Record which is 13,500 upwards to 14-16kish (1997-2001)?

Glory's 'Glory Days' are very comparable to Force's earlier/better crowd averages at the stadium.

FTR I'm not one for bashing Union - I prefer Union to League and support our fellow second tier code in this state, in our bigger battle against AFL for media space. They aren't bad co-tenants to have either. Working together, we have stronger 'collective clout' - hence improved venue. It's more the govt. and/or Allia - whoever responsible for arranging these things. It could quite simply be 'done better' and in a way which would affect Glory far less. Other obstacles and long term issues too have really tested Glory's patience.

Last 4 years they have finished: 13th, 12th, 14th and 13th.
Without confirmation of members numbers they predict there is over 15,000 members. Lets be conservative and we can see there member numbers more than double perth glory members. Which hasn't cracked the 5,000 mark this year.

We will be behind for the next 3 seasons at least unless we win the title. Reaching the grand final did very little for glory figures/turnout apart from the first game against the Roar at subiaco.

I wish for nothing more than the old glory days with 14,000 people at home games but we are a long way from that. Hopefully Edwards playing some local talent and stringing together some solid games we might start climbing to 10,000 people to games regularly.

Oh I know - and the Glory CEO posted that on his twitter (That's where you got it from Iridium ;) hehe), with accompanying 'positive' remarks?! :s

Highly frustrating, at the dawn of this code's season, they are doing this sh*t NOW. Once again, just a reminder, of how disrespectful this is. Clearly Glory have been 'relegated' to secondary tenants in their own venue! Such reward for loyalty. Force move in, and they bend hand over foot - that's why they do this now, because it's in 'Force's off-season' best time 'for them' - NEVERMIND Glory, who have been there more than a decade, play there over a longer period of the year, draw, cumulatively, larger crowds and host more fixtures?

This HAS to change, and surely will, once glory flexes it's growing muscle and clout, with a stronger member base, and higher average crowds. Once Glory rivals Force for memberships and equals or tops them in crowd average (They are only a few thousand above Glory, in the latter regard - 13-14k avg?), then the 'landscape' may change!

Don't know about Adelaide's 35 degrees today, but back to 19 tomorrow, and a showery, cool 20 degrees for the match on Sunday.

The team will hardly know they've left Perth, (aside from the more obvious change in excitement and pace of life).

It's lighter fabric as well, which I appreciate, will be good during summer, counteract the fact its dark.

Wore mine for much of the night also. Feels quite nice though the logo bits are quite heavy - they do seem very durable though. Was surprised to find the shirts are 100% Polyester. They really feel quite good - must be in the weave and the thread count.

From what I heard from one of the players, we haven't moved much from there. Interestingly, we are up on last year, despite last year being bulked out by 500~700 "complimentary" memberships that were handed out...

Which ... kind of tells us how far this club has slid and how far we need to go.

Time will tell with the new CEO.
Membership packs still a bugbear to many.
Does anyone know what is included in the pack this season? Member cap, another scarf, etc. Regardless of first up away games, Members would still like stuff before the first game, especially if attending.

And here's a novel idea for Glory's first home game.
What about, now that we know everyone in the squad, and everyone has been training, someone walk out (not Ljubo) with a camera and take a picture of each player. Then anytime our team gets announced on the big screens, we use actual pictures and don't end with silhouttes for 1/2 the team. It really wouldn't take too much effort to ensure this is done.

And any improvement this season in the pre-game, half-time entertainment would be bonus.

Another Glory fan here suggested the CEO said at the recent Fan Day, that Glory were pushing over 5k to a new club record? Can people who have Twitter ask him? Would be interesting to see where Glory are at, entering into season's start:

*I am fairly certain Jamie was replaced by Ndumba Makeche late in this match but can't find a match report with subs (let alone times)

So he has played in 10 of our pre-season matches, for up to (given my uncertainty regarding the Johor match) 637 minutes of game time- equivalent of a shade over 7 full matches. Importantly, the only match he has not scored in since opening his account was the friendly against Melbourne Heart in absolutely torrid conditions. It is worth factoring in that prior to opening his account against Stirling he played no full matches (if I am right about Johor) in a squad he was unfamiliar with (and were unfamiliar with themselves.) Once the team started to settle and nail down their style he has been prolific with 6 goals in 5 matches (two of which he only played a half.) He has scored braces in his last two matches.

ON THIS DAY IN 2007 @PerthGloryFC 0 Adelaide 0, a game where Glory dominated but just couldn't score. Think we'll do it this time on Sunday!

5:47 PM - 6 Oct 13

Could Brewer be the coolest and best CEO Glory have had? How high is the bar for that btw, can any long term Glory fans recollect?

A local who actually loves the game and has been involved an administrator at WA State League level. He's made all the right noises and has been very communicative via the Social Networks, even answering the long held member number question. :P Things certainly seem to be looking up, even if there are still the odd hang ups over membership notifications and delivery etc... - I'm sure longer he's in charge, the more he may look to sort out some of those niggling issues too.

BTW We've also read on FB that they will bring the 'HT Dancers' back! A fair few fans have missed the lack of H/T entertainment that existed in earlier days, which included the likes of announcer 'Steve Armstrong'.. hopefully Brewer can work on getting him back in some capacity too. :)
