Uncle Tony not making enough money from Iron Ore with the spot price dropping below $80/t is my guess.

I got a Deep Purple pack last season, I think the price change there only marginal - $5-10 and think some of that tied to 'service fees' or what not aka yeah, a money making exercise, like when they charge you extra to pay via credit card. Only way to avoid is if you could some how pay by cash. hotrod wrote:Eastern Glory wrote:hotrod wrote:Uncle Tony not making enough money from Iron Ore with the spot price dropping below $80/t is my guess.
Do you seriously reckon he makes money off the ticket prices? ](*,) hotrod maybe a bit too far - Concur with EG, it's clear they don't earn enough and even in wider terms - Glory seem far from one of the break-even clubs, sadly? Sage has constantly moaned and finally sought to cut back the squad budget. The club needs the revenues it can to balance the budget and we 'hope' that they are indeed striving through CEO Brewer and co for a more productive and sustainable business. Here's something wild. Cut the prices to increase the crowds. Keeping on jacking up the prices and not improving the product is a sure way to turn customers off your band.

I haven't really monitored the price range from last season to this season - can anybody measure the price differentials, from member-pack to member-pack? Have they REALLY been jacked up THAT much? It really depends on the price differential - if the difference just $10-20, and most people may not be bothered by it? :-k
Again, going by Deep Purple, seems not too much and anecdotally, it doesn't seem to have bothered the rest of the core support too much, with memberships tracking mid 4ks, around same amount as they were this time last season, so no big drop off.
The Flexi-Pass that Biscuitman mentioned is a new addition, I know that for sure. That must be another initiative that they took note of, from fan feedback. That's good for fans who can't commit more, but could attend more games than just a couple - a good gate-way membership if they like the experience, so may seek to attend even more regularly, the following season.
Thinking about it, the increase might be explained by the stadium deal, improvements - they had bureaucratic trouble last season as all we members experienced, but now that sorted the stadium's extra costs (Post-revamp) might be kicking in? :-k

Gold Plus Family membership was same price as last season and haven't checked but don't we get one more home game this season? Actually saved $30 on what I paid last season by paying by cheque and avoiding the 3% credit card surcharge.

Around 10/11 GA tickets were $20 an adult, they're now $30, plus im sure Ticketmaster charge you something like an extra $5 dollars. Reserved seating used to be 25-30 I believe, they're now a whopping 40-45. On top of that we've been shit for most of our A-league history, and since I've supported Perth we've played some of the most boring football around, which is something I don't see changing next season.
Membership prices aren't the question, we have what 4.4k members and average like 9k, how many people from last season are seriously going to pay for these one off tickets to watch boreball?
I think this is going to out price people but we'll see.

I think this is going to out price people but we'll see. Glory seem to be chasing their tail each season. Memberships keep dropping, so they up the membership to offset the loss. The next season members get fed up with the product for the price they paid, numbers drop further, tickets go up. Hard not to see what needs to be done. It's improving value for money.

I think this is going to out price people but we'll see. I think if you pay at the gate you avoid the Ticketmaster charge and general admission does get you a seat in the new eastern stand so it's a big improvement on the temporary stand that used to be there. It's probably still too high to watch shit football but shouldn't discourage people if Glory put together a few wins on the back of some attractive football (pre-season optimism ...) If you are expecting to go to at least five games though, why wouldn't you buy a flexi membership?

Twitter says Kenny playing his B side against a strong Melb City today. 1-0 down at half time, Melb having a few chances, scored from a penalty.
Kenny being cagey not playing the first team? Or scared of a bad result and not having an excuse? Time will tell.

This is Sage we're talking about, he hasn't shown a whiff of footballing acumen or learning from mistakes. Prices always going up is a given every year under him. Anyway, I'd imagine the price change has something to do also with the change in control of Perth Oval, since Allia don't run it anymore.

Bench was Keogh, Nicholls, O'Brien, Zadkovich, Griffiths, Jamieson, Thawaite, Vukovich. Some of them, including Keogh, Vuka got a run second half.

Agreed with ATE, that's what I touched on before, there's no doubt that the improved stadium and the management changing hands, will have improved the value/costs and that gets passed down through to the consumer or Glory who then pass onto the end consumer, us. And the delays and fiasco last season and the one before were part of that transition and only now, that all the work done and systems in-place, they adjust the costs up. Everybody goes 'Big Bad Tony' and yeah some times... but in this case Sage hasn't been wrong in the past to complain over the stadium costs, costs for hiring the big screen ($20k?) and even brinkmanship threats to move to the hockey stadium. PG and this code were the ones to suffer for the stadium upgrades done for Force too - during 'their off-season' and yet 'our season'. PG had to suffer the reduced capacity, reduced match attendance experience/quality, and the financial losses to go with it - they were right to seek compensation. Dare I say, dare I say - the stadium has been upgraded soo much, soo well, that it's almost beyond Glory's current means. But flipside, it's a much better class venue in-which this under-achieving club can grow into. It may seem 'less theirs' but then under Allia etc... they had troubles too - sharing with Force is arguably a net-benefit and finally saw the outcome of a decent stadium. Now the troublesome Allia are no longer here too, so the brave new world of VenuesWest. And as Biscuitman and I have anecdotally pointed out, the price differences in atleast two of the member options are marginal and may be affected by the additional fixture. Can't speak for other member options. Iridium1010 wrote:Around 10/11 GA tickets were $20 an adult, they're now $30, plus im sure Ticketmaster charge you something like an extra $5 dollars. I think this is going to out price people but we'll see. Iridium I think your comparison errant - 2010/11 was a while ago and the old stadium. It's unfair to compare as the stadium we have now is just soo much better than what Glory had before. So in that way it's really hard to guage. I know we all talk about Glory and the product/value on the field - Yes, that's a factor, but A-League owners have always mentioned/bemoaned Stadium rental costs etc... Sage being one of many, and with the improved venue it was inevitable that costs would go up too. Hopefully, whatever price rises we've seen, they are the extent of the additional costs and the price range can remain constant entering into the next few seasons. With consistency and reliability in pricing, combined with on-the-field etc... people will come back into the fold, even if some temporarily put off. Agreed that in the end, Sage and co need to make sure the product on-the-field worthy, including the standard of football which can only be guided by wiser coaching appointments. No point having a fantastic stadium, when the product not worth watching, indeed. But hopefully that changes this season. Edited by GloryPerth: 26/9/2014 11:43:45 PM

If a better stadium means such price hikes I would rather we have the old stadium. In any case we had the new stadium last season and the prices weren't as high. Perth Glory make it to top 10 A-league flops\:d/ http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2014/10/02/top-10-league-flops

I guess the proof is in that this thread got nearly 50 pages last off-season, but about 5 this time round (though that could just be down to a missing fisherman...)
