Was and still am sorry that Mehmet was released especially as we got nothing out of Smeltz afterwards. Billy Mehmet being released has always been a sore point with me, he was very good value and served a great role structurally.

I personally would take him back right away depending on wage demands of course.
I also think we should go for Taggart on a season long loan, would be lethal next to Keogh No way i think the roar dident want him and came to an agreement which suited him im guessing they have someone in mind for his spot and he will be much younger and injury free.

IIRC we were generally poor when Memhet and Smeltz were on the field at the same time

armchairexpert wrote:IIRC we were generally poor when Memhet and Smeltz were on the field at the same time Indeed. It was actually a period, for once, where Glory had too much of a good thing, upfront. It was the same season where they had the GF run in the end. Glory ended up going to 1 upfront and that's around the time they found a purple patch of form and the likes of Mehmet were controversially released, mid-season. Well soo glad to be proven wrong - Lowe gives DDS a shot atlast and, more than that, gives him a start! The boy duly responded it seems, with another confident performance?
Sounds like tough work against the Jets (I wasn't able to catch the game at all :/), only sneaking the win via 'Super-Sub' McLaren's brace. Great to see that lad growing in confidence too!
And given the mid-week game, it was ofcourse a rotated team too, but the fact some of these boys got to impress too, just shows the growing depth in this team and, perhaps - perhaps, not getting too excited - the genuine promise/potential in-store for this season. Quite promising? :-k

Taggart would be good, don't see it happening though. I like Maclarren as an impact sub but I would start him next to Keogh over anyone else in the squad. Also need depth there desperately...if Keogh or Maclarren get injured I think we will struggle. Really disappointing that we didn't get Ruka.

So, it's four weeks into the season and Maclaren has already equalled our top goal scorers from last season.

Plenty of comments on here that are negative about the Glory, but the boys win on the weekend (coming from behind late) and there are only 3 or 4 posts??
The only disappointing thing about the game was the crowd ... especially considering where we sit on the table. I personally can't remember the last time we played such 'exciting' football (not in our A-League time anyway). Lowe and behold (excuse the pun) we play some higher standard of football and the wins come ... time to get behind the team again. See the glass as half full instead of half empty.

Agree (you must be new around here ;) ) - only negatives for me were: - Ferriera is not a right back. Even when we were dominating in the first half, he was allowing his man to cut inside and shoot/pass rather than keeping him wide. - Vukovic is just off a bit. Not howlers but conceding goals that he would save if he was in good form. Even though the Jeronimo goal was one on one he was beaten at near post again. WSW game on 15 November will see whether we can pull a crowd or not. Champions of Asia, 6:30pm kick off on a Saturday night. Then we have three teams which are not exactly crowd pullers, Wellington, Newcastle (again!) and CCM (who are looking very average ATM). If we can keep our good form up though the second half of the season at home is full of cracking games against the big teams (apart from Wellington on 14 March). The 5pm kick off on Monday Jan 5 (v Adelaide) could be a problem though for people who aren't still on holiday.

Anyone else noticing that almost all of our scoring is up the Terrace end, not the Shed end?
We'll be taking credit for this season at this rate ;)

Danny has missed a few this season, which I'm sure he's not too pleased about. Not all can be down to him, but probably just got too used to him saving us so often last year. Henrique's Brisbane goal was just a case of our defenders standing off a guy and giving him all day to pick his spot and smash it. Finkler's on Wednesday had Danny caught in a classic time warp - first took a step to the right, when he should have done a jump to the left. And The Worst today confirms Zadkovich as our new Foxe, now still only another fortnight away.

If you can find a strain of Ebola that specifically wipes out the denizens of The Shed then I am more than willing to appreciate the Perth Glory's season thus far as they are an old school NSL club that didn't involve chip on the shoulder effniks.

Watched the match highlights earlier today, there's a couple occasions where I do not understand how we failed to score.
And with all the talk of Covic's save, I'm surprise there has been no talk for the save Birghitti put in on De Silva's one-time volley from the spill off a corner in the first half.

In his defence on Wednesday he was worried about the wall not being far enough across to the right despite him yelling and yelling at them to move.

Still two months to Christmas, so no need to get ahead of ourselves and plus, it's only 4 games into a 27 game season. Glory have been doing all the right things. They are playing an exciting brand of football and winning from losing positions. The next test is crowd size. Not yet 9K turning up to watch a game. Needs to be 11-12K and Glory in the top half of the table to be a true reflection of how the WA support base views Glory. That almost mirrors my support. I'm about 75% on board at this stage.

Actually Pride and Prejudice with the wife, not the Hollywood version, but the BBC series. Fine with the credibility of my positiveness being diminished, just means the credibility of my negativeness will be enhanced.

If Vukovic can sort himself out, we can probably cut the rate of conceded goals significantly, he has been reasonably at fault for a few of them, and it is uncharacteristic.

How the f*cl was Vuka beaten for that goal?! Near post an was already balling backwards before the ball left old mate's boot... Ridiculous Goalkeeping. And that's coming from Danny's biggest fan.
