So new kit and captain to be revealed on the 25th. Bets on Garcia I guess, unfortunately.

I’m with you on this Hotrod. No-one doubts tough decisions have to be made at times, or that no reasons have to be given to anyone for those decisions. But there would be 5 or 10,000 fans with a passing interest in some decisions made by Glory. All most would know is that McGarry was one of the most committed, hard working and professional players in his playing days with Glory. These traits seem to have been readily applied to his fledging coaching career and achieving success, not to mention his leading role with Gwelup Croatia, falling one win short of making the final 32 of the FFA Cup.
It really would not be difficult for the club to throw out a few clichés, just say: “budget issues; differences of opinion; heading in different directions; restructuring the positions; offered him alternative positions but declined; and so on”. But no, the Glory way is just ‘he’s gone’, don’t need to say when, why or how to anyone. And that’s exactly why the fans think the Admin is constant crap because they are just left to wonder about what goes on at their club. One does wonder why a club that has so underachieved in a decade would possibly want young, energetic coaches coming through the ranks and achieving success. The Harnwell issue was bad enough, now McGarry, but I did get the email today for the season launch.

Had a quick look at the stats for last season, which I'm reading as saying Garcia was subbed off 11 times (!) during the season, plus subbed on a further 5 times. And I think an unused sub another time or two. That is not the type of player that could possibly be selected to provide leadership as a Captain. But another year on, may be he's got better and picked up the pace.

So Kenny still needs to make some signings and has said he wants to bring in 3 more before the start of the season. Says he wants to replace Maclarren with another young Ausralian striker. And is Nick Epifano still in the picture?

Dino has been pretty restrained/matured? for last season. Admittedly 1 Red, but same Yellows as Thwaites, and both were running at heaps less than our previous long term captain. You really need a Captain who is going to be out there for the vast majority of every match, and apart from Dino, Thwaites and Risdon, we're rather short of players who we know will do this, and have served the club for a minimum of a season or two.

Well I much prefer Dino to Garcia. He was also used in the graphic for the season launch announcement...probably shouldn't look too much into that though.

You don't think they'd revert back to Thwaite?

We've been linked with Griffiths in the last 6 months.
But he did his ACL didn't he? Could be Mallia, Chianese? Gibbs is at Wellington now right?

Mind you, players seem to recover quicker these days with ACL injuries. Did it in April, so might be OK by about October to December? :-k Edited by hotrod: 14/9/2015 03:30:20 PM

So it's Powell at Welly, so I'm guessing we're looking at Joey Gibbs.
Also, are we getting a new home kit? You can't order the personalised home kit at the moment, but you can get the personalised away kit?
Weird...

Weird... New home kit to be revealed at season launch. Not sure why you can't buy a personalised current kit though. Maybe because they're selling them for cheaper and trying to flog as many unpersonalised home kits they can before the new kit comes in.

I just bought a home kit and a home keeper kit that I can just use as run arounds.

I only started getting personalised kits 2 seasons ago, so I currently have: De Silva (home) Keogh (Away) Risdon home seems like the go.

Should have picked myself up a De Silva.

He's been in Malaysia where he has a good goal scoring record in the Malaysian Premier League, 7 goals in 5 games. Would be happy to pick him up

Interesting trying to read the Soccerway site - whether that's reliable or not - Malaysia has a Super League level which sits above the Premier League level. Chianese is playing for Sabah who started the season ok, but now sit 7th of 12 teams. There last 9 matches read: 1 draw, 8 losses, goals for - 9, goals against - 25. Yikes, why would you leave that?
