Oh, look, Glory have a ready made LTI replacement.

Funny how these things work out.

With bugger all happening at work in the week before Christmas, I bunked off for a couple of hours and went and watched a couple of Glory training sessions.

Fernandez was doing run throughs with the fitness and conditioning coach and then some ball work (side foot volleys moving either side of a cone) with John Gibson.

Looked like a medium term rehab/conditioning plan. He isn't crocked but they are certainly not rushing him back either.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him joining in with the squad in the next week or so and maybe a run in the NYL later in January if he is going to stay. If he isn't staying, not sure why they would be putting all this work in rather than just releasing him.

Also, as I posted elsewhere, Keogh is well off the pace at the moment and is not going to be an immediate solution to anything IMO.

Re Fernandes
This isnt the local league biscuits. Its a pro football club (stop laughing) and therefore he will train accordingly as thats what he gets paid to do.

behind the scenes in the offices is a different story if you know what I mean.

Enjoy your training updates btw, cheers..

Yep - I realise that. Just saying that unlike Sidnei, who was just riding an exercise bike and Zadkovich and Dino who weren't there at all, he didn't look "indefinitely" injured, more like he is well advanced in a rehab plan.

wow, if fox is right, taggart and keogh in, and risdon, ferreira and thwaite out (plus of course at least one import... sidnei/fernandez (or put on the injury list).

Should also get rid of Zadkovich, Garcia, Gligor, Warren, Golec, Williams at season end. Need some full backs (Collard could play RB after Risdon goes of RB this year to blood him and see whether we need a senior RB at the end of the season?). Also, need a good CM to partner Sandor.

I'd keep Zads and Williams.

We really haven't seen the best of Zads due to injury, but when he's fit, that energy and communication is massive!

I assume Risdon will go O/S?

I would immediately take Zadkovich back to Newy, should never have left, very Newy, etc

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

How can you guys want Williams after the performance today. Granted, he never should have been played in midfield, but he was terrible and makes some absolute clangers at CB as well. If he is the replacement for Risdon, then we are going to lose all our attack from full back with dumb and dumber fighting it out for left back.

Maybe because he is NOT a CB NOR a MFer and was played in both positions today.

Castro would be pants playing at CB.

He is only a RB or LB.

Losing Risdon and with Golec/Warren makes the loss of Davies and Woodcock look all the more short-sighted.

But I expect nothing else from Glory. They only have an eye for each season and it does not help any long term player retention and development.

If Glory sign Taggart, they are about 5/6 seasons too late after letting him go.

That's Glory youth development for you.

They toss out O'Neil, Davies, Woodcock and lose Maclaren, Jamieson and then if Fernadez, Djulbic, Ferreira and Sidnei had been fit they would have played.

Kenny only plays youth when forced to not because he wants too.

youth development at glory is mostly playing kids when there are no other options (like this year when injuries and salary cap issues took a toll on the experienced list of players).

Kenny even had a little go at Maclaren for believing he should have got more game time in his last year with Glory. He also mentioned the difficulty of playing him with Keogh there, but Kenny still couldn't resist a dig at a young player for getting impatient at opportunities at Glory.

I want to see a lot more from Kenny re: advancing youth before I am convinced that he does a good job at that.

Just thought i'd post this in here to cheer some Glory fans up, it may not seem like much but Glory defeated Roar in the NYL today 1 nill.

When you look at the lineups below, Roar really should have won easy but Tyson had a great game in goals, Roar dominated the game as expected but it only took one counter attack on the break for them to score.

This was their first win as well in Conference A.

BRISBANE ROAR: Theo, Walker, Crestani, DeVere, Polenz, Clut, Daley, Hervas, Brady, H Sawyer, D'Agostino.
Subs: Bilic, Rodic, A Sawyer, Ingham

PERTH GLORY: Tyson, Troup, Spaseski, Stevens, McKearnen, Collard, Durr, Ismail, Whitney, Knowles, Talimdzioski.
Subs: Thurtell, Stynes, Morgan, Teece.

'The free press'... Lol, my most recent encounter with journos was one of my friends being published as being the daughter of her boyfriend.

If there's anything we know about journos, it's that they don't fucking listen. So who knows?

No Keogh this week. Glory unable to offload Fernandez or Sidnei.

Fernandez has been out for about 2 months with no sign of him coming back soon. Why hasn't he been put on the long term injury list?

What do you mean by "unable"?

Player not wanting to go?

FFA being their usual dicks?

They probably still have to find clubs for them before they go.

Seems like players not wanting to go.

Sidnei is a journeyman with his family in Perth. Plus he is currently injured so not an attractive option. I doubt he could get a contract worth what he is on at Perth anywhere else at the moment.

Fernandez likewise (other than the family bit).

Marinkovic, Sandor and Castro aren't going anywhere.
