No - he isn't West Australian

The word is we are getting Jesse Makarounas and Riley Woodcock back and Chris Herd is a possibility as well.

Yes please. [-o<

Any of those 3.

Woodcock should not have been released last season and Maka was another dumb decision.

FFS Woodcock wasn't released. His contract ended and he refused the offer of another one. I have it second hand that he was actually hiding from Kenny while waiting from confirmation from Sydney.

Apsrt from the odd free kick what does Nebo actually bring to the team?

How many great balls do you see him put in for the strikers? He doesn't command the midfield and goes missing during games. He is no longer the "set piece specialist" as Ox and Castro are more then capable of scoring. IMO he is a waste of a Visa spot.

How good would it be to have a decent creative midfielder who can weave some magic and help feed the striker force Glory are forming?

If these signings are part of a 4-year strategy, then they are foundations of the right stuff.

Having a locally born a bred squad was part of the consultant's report IIRC. Just a shame it's about 3-4 years too late.

What I fear is Reiners getting frozen out.

Might not happen if Keogh is played as the #9 with Taggart playing a winger, but Taggart is a striker, so not sure if he would be suited to a winger's role similar to Harold ATM.

Might necessitate a change to two up front.

Castro is suited to his drifting role as this seems to confuse to opposition defenders and he has the skills to easily nutmeg them so not sure a 4-4-2 would suit. Glory need that extra man in MF and speed on the wings.

...

It might mean that Harold/Taggart/Keogh rotate between wings and the striker position, but that takes a lot of communication between players. It's hard enough with 2 players, almost impossible with 3. At least Reiners can get a run as a wing/striker replacement.

That's a good point hotrod - it's exciting seeing these lads return, all at once  , but tactically how will we line-up, with Keogh also secured and the changes to the rotation that comes with. Thwaite and Risdon on their way out too, Glory have to again adjust 'within the cap'. These departures all free up space, but hopefully Glory can find the adequate quality for all the areas. But so far, so very good?

Reiners could still feature similar to now, an option behind Harold, LW and Castro? If it's a front two or Taggart behind Keogh with Castro a little deeper - guess we can only wait and see? As some of you have said, Taggart has featured on the flanks in his career - so more of a kind of straight replacement for Sidnei, option on the LW (A Cirio/Novillo-like inverted Winger?), could still be possible?

Save some money and just use Tyson as #1.

I think there is a reason why Tyson has been #2 at every club he has been at outside of Hong Kong. He is exactly the type of #2 you want though as he engages with fans, is a great team man and doesn't moan. Having watched him train though, I am not confident he is up to being first choice for an extended period.

Jones would be too expensive unless he has made enough over his career to want to come back as a lifestyle choice.

Covic has probably done enough for another contract if he wants to stay on. My reservation with him is that while he is still a great shot stopper, if we want to move away from sitting back and defending then counter attacking to actually building up from the back and playing a better style of football, then I don't think his kicking and distribution are up to it.

Assuming we are going with an Australian keeper I would be very interested in Nathan Coe if he recovers from his back issue or either Theo or Young from Brisbane as I don't think either of them is prepared to be #2.

Interesting comments biscuit - Coe's an interesting one, he's only 31 and he seems to be available?

I suspect with Jones, Glory COULD secure him via such an angle? He's had a long and relatively successful career in the UK and will be entering his mid-30s next season. It might be seem he may still have something to offer in Europe, but it depends on what options he actually has on his table? Just look at Lowry - 26 and signing with Glory! Could've easily stayed in the UK, with some Champ/League One club.

Makarounas has been featuring for Victory just a little more recent times - it was his cross that created the own goal that won Victory the most recent Big Blue clash. But he's still he's only a bit-part player, down the pecking order in the rotation of a full strength Victory squad?

He would be a great signing for our squad's needs - a left footed, LW option with the departed Sidnei and lack of naturally left sided options generally that side of the field. More opportunities would certainly abound for him too here perhaps, unlike the last time he was here? His return would be a bit of a story for the club and fans especially, given the context of his departure!

Chris Herd signed a new longer deal with Chesterfield, just a week ago:

Quote:
http://www.fourfourtwo.com/au/news/herds-new-deal-roos-boost

Chris Herd’s bid to win back his spot in the Socceroos squad has been boosted after signing a new deal with Chesterfield.

Herd, 26, joined the English League One club in August on a four-month deal after being released by Aston Villa.

The midfielder, who hasn’t played for Australia since October 2014, has only been handed a contract until the end of this season.

Herd has made 16 appearances for the Spireites in central midfield this season.

Oh it's only to the end of this season, but it seems to reflect he's progressing well, seeing a sustained run of fitness and form? That will only help to prove his return to football and his attractiveness as a proposition for higher level clubs in the UK? Then again, like Lowry, Taggart and some other returnees to the A-League, could be seen as a good way to re-boot his career and improve his Socceroos prospects under Ange? :-k

This.

He didn't want Castro taking the free kick against Newcastle because he knows that's the only thing he brings to the team. Contracts don't seem to carry much weight at the Glory, hopefully we can ship him off at the end of the season.

Nebo has value. We're lucky to have him. Can sell, swap or keep

Castro is filthy good, all we need as a playmaker really and Keogh's not bad at a through ball either. Taggart is a welcomed addition, cos he loves to run.

How much running will he do? I reckon Harold probably has more explosive running ability than Taggart.

This is funny, cos he might end up learning more at Glory than he has @ Fulham & Dundee

What was the point of signing Adam Taggart now when he can't play until next season? Could have let him play for Fulham's reserves for the rest of the season or something.

Either way, the thought of a Keogh/Taggart partnership next season makes me erect.

Obviously locking him in.

Plus an extra 6 months to train with the squad will mean he'll be fit and well integrated unlike almost every Kenny signing ever haha

awesome another midfielder .. hope he's more defensive mid, cos he's got f-all goals

Not sure about this one.... he's nearly 6'2.. that one stat would b good for defense but hmm

Scored a goal against Castro's    Sporting Gijón in 2010 - Castro would have been playing too.

Sandor coming from Hungary as well, would have to know each other. This one is weird, he's played majority of his games in La Liga. Might as well call him another Spanish signing

How many VISA spots do Glory need to utilise on Central Midfielders?! Nebo, Sandor, Castro and now this guy?! Less we are negotiating to release Nebo or Sandor early from their contracts, I just can't see the sense on stocking up on this position when the likes of Thwaite and Risdon are set to leave? :? Oxborrow is also an option currently and the team also has Zadko about and he will return soon enough too.

Zadkovich isnt even training so I don't know why you think he is back any time soon. Castro is being used in the front three and I think there is a realisation that Nebo doesn't offer much in general play. Sandor was excellent early in the season and although not as good since coming back from injury is a player we should keep.

If he is a dm, then I have no problem trying him out for the balance of the season.

We need another good dm/cm to help us to maintain a bit more possession (we are last in the league in that stat) and to protect our young defence.

Or at least to move the ball better from defence to attack.

I think that next year with Lowry, Djulbic (probably) and Grant our CB's are ok and Lowry can play LB.

RB may be more of a problem post Risdon, but I suppose there is Williams and Collard may come on.

Looks like he is primarily a central midfielder, but can play AM and DM.

Probably what Glory need. More of a link man it would appear.

Just as tall as Griffiths too. :-k

PERTH Glory will spend the last 48 hours of the A-League transfer window trying to secure more WA talent, before making another push next season.

Overseas-based Rostyn Griffiths, Chris Herd and Ryan Williams and local-based Jesse Makarounas and Scott Galloway are all on the radar for next season as Glory continues to redress its past sins.

It’s unclear which, if any of those players is a possibility of joining in the current window.

Meanwhile former Hungary international and La Liga player Kristian Vadocz has signed as an injury-replacement for Ruben Zadkovich for the rest of the season.

The defensive midfielder has been training with Glory for the past few days after terminating his contract with Spanish side Alaves and passed a medical on Saturday.

Vadocz, 30, may remain beyond this season but while he fills a short-term gap the rest of Glory’s recruiting strategy is long-term.
