Btw, the tackle on De Vanna was a red. I can't justify why the ref only booked her. No intent for the ball, straight off in my opinion.

That kind of foul is always only given as a yellow card. It's a reckless challenge and thus is a yellow. Do you realise how many sending offs we'd have in every game if you gave a red card every time someone had no intent to get the ball.

It's not just the lack of intent to get the ball, it's also about the fact that it was late and reckless.

Ok, so that's one part of the equation, it was reckless. What about the lack of intent to play the ball and the fact that it was late?

Neither of those make it a red card offence though that's the thing. Like I said how many times do you see a player about to break away and they are brought down to stop the attack, this was exactly the same thing, it just looked a bit worse because of the speed De Vanna was travelling at at the time of the contact, when in actual fact there wasn't a huge amount of contact and not deserving of anything more than a yellow.

You see these fouls all the time and if they were red card offences people would then start complaining about there being to many red cards being given out.

Except they're in possession of the ball when that happens.

Individually each factor is only worth a yellow, or a foul at best. Together they're a red.

As did De Vanna.

WGMG: My friend got 1 MVP vote at basketball on Saturday. Even though we lost to a state league team by about 80 points, they still give 1 vote to the losing team. It's bollocks, none of us deserved it especially not him. Sure, he top-scored, but apart from that he just fucked around. He didn't even want to play, just walked around on defense and didn't even try to stop the other team. Just stood outside the keyway on offense, except when he came out to make four missed three-pointers, like he does every single fucking week. Me and my mate actually drove in, passed the ball off and tried hard on defense, yet he gets the vote for looking disinterested and not playing any defense. Bullshit. I guess that's the refs where I play in a nutshell. Total shithouse, bar a couple.

This. When I ref'd the older girls, around my age, in a modified version of rugby league called Oz-Tag, I'd usually give it to the cutest/hottest ones :lol:
