From what you said on fb, sounds a bit fucked if they're not providing evidence or proof that you were involved. Are you sure there's no way to fight it, or to appeal - because if they have no proof, and it's all circumstantial, then they'll have to over turn it.

5 years is damn excessive. You'll be what, 25-26 before you can go to A-League games - Pretty good deterrent, but still, that's fucked. Like I said, if they've no proof, you might want to get legal advice, if you're feeling that strongly about it.

If that's the case - and they have no evidence, they have no grounds to ban you. Take them to court, and say you didn't even go to the said matches. I mean, after all - they have no proof you were there in the first place. Get an alibi - one of your mates to say you were at his house on the night or something. After all, a mates 'alibi' is as strong as their words if they've no proof.

At the end of the day, if you take it to court, any proof or evidence they do have has to be brought out - and if you're guilty then you're well and truly guilty.

You can't just accuse somebody of something they may or may not have done without proof and evidence. That's the society we live in - imagine if the Police had those powers; it'd be Soviet Russia or Nazi Germany all over again - living in fear of the Stasi or the SS.

Good luck with the case, but it's unlikely to do shit. A-League games aren't public events, the FFA has no obligation to take your custom.

If you do fight it and beat it, make sure you crow it from the roof top though. This shit has been going on too long.

From what you've said, it's a similar scenario to a pub barring a patron for 5 years, because they were thrown out for intoxication. If the cops aren't pressing charges against YOU, they really have little ground to stand on as far as I can see. Essentially, they've probably identified you from potential CCTV footage, but if you're not lighting flares, or kicking up a stink they've no grounds to give you a ban.

I mean, you say you were trying to stop the cops from arresting your friend - that is actually a crime, a lesser form of perverting the course of justice, or something (can't remember the precise law), but if the Police aren't charging you with that, the FFA can't exactly turn around and say you're a hooligan. The worst you could get from being charged with that is a fine - couple hundred dollars if the Cops are in a pissy mood.
