I'll never forget my mate getting to the door of his final exam and shot-gunning a beer as he walked out the door.

The room we were doing our exam in overlooked the street in front of the school. One of my mates was one of the first to finish, he walked out of the room, straight to his car, then proceded to rip a burnout right out in front while yelling out the window "PARTY AT MY HOUSE FUCKERS!"

Everything RJL says is true. The friends you make after high school are the ones you have for life, whhether or not you go to university. People become more politically and culturally orientated as they get into their 20s, and you find you begin to drift from high school friends as you all develop your own views of the world.

Also, funnily enough you bump into these bullies even a few years after school and they themselves have matured and some even openly regret their childish behaviour in school. Of course, some people are just bullies their entire lives.

Yeah its a shit feeling, but high school is really a formative time in your life. But more so are the 10 or so years after high school. You may not have the personal make up to shrug things off like some other people can, but believe us that there is an entire life and lifetime of friends after year 12. :)

In high school you're forced to pick your friends from a select group of people in order to be socially 'accepted'. Once you leave high school you've got THE WHOLE WORLD to choose from. 6.5bn people and counting.

It's all good.

I find that some of my better friends these days are people from high school that I never spoke to back then.

Absolutely, 2 of the 5 people from high school I still stay in contact with I never had anything to do with in high school!

High School is very cliquey, the real world by and large is not like this. There are some exceptions, but generally in the real world, you become friends with people who you actually have a connection with, rather then people who happen to be in the same clique as you at high school. As a result, your friends in your post-school life will be far better friends.

I'm glad I don't see half of my year anymore, save for glimpsing them at 18ths. We only had three or four dickhead guys, but there were an awful lot of girls so fixiated on making high school like it is American teen dramas. Lucky I don't have to deal with them anymore. I catch up with my good mates from high school from time to time, and talk to a fair few on Facebook, but in reality i know there'll probably be only three or four at most who i will regularly speak to in the future.

Or you could just be like my ex-best friend, decide at the end of Year 12 which friends she would keep (i.e. those who made her look good) and which friends she would decide to block out, ignore, start rumours about.

teenaged girls go nuts in year 12!

I was actually dating a chick at the start of year 12 who both her mum and dad were high school teachers, AT OUR SCHOOL! Talk about awkward when we broke up... Anyway I digress, I remember her mum talking to us about year 12 and how all of the girls would go "bat shit crazy" in her words during year 12, she says it happens every single year, without exception. She said the blokes tend to just chill the fuck out and stop caring about anything because they've found alcohol and boobs (her words still) were as the discovery of alcohol and penis's (still her words!) seemed to have the exact opposite effect on girls.

I can confirm that every word of it was absolutely spot on!

Well KC, by cutting yourself you have become one of more then 50% of women who self harm in some way during their teenaged years! It is most certainly NOT something to be ashamed or embaressed about, and anyone who says otherwise, quite honestly, your better off without!

Absolutely. Of the people I was friends with in my high school years (not just at school, but in general) I maybe still talk to half a dozen of them. I'd see easily 100+ of my mates who I met after school on a weekly basis from working hospitality.

They say that 63% of american families are now "dysfunctional". 63%. That's right, the 'weirdos' are now in the MAJORITY. Those guys with the 2 parents, 2 kids, a dog and a white picket fence are now the weird ones.

And let's be honest, when the end of the world comes at the end of the year, WE will all be able to handle it while all the nuclear families are freaking out. And while they're all freaking out...the BMW dealers are unguarded. "Hey guys, looks like we're riding into the apocalypse in style."

With that truth acknowledged, the sort of people who turn away at something like this, instead of trying to help, let alone actively bellitling you, are not worth any of your time. That being said, even if half the people you can honestly talk to and confide in most at the moment are a bunch of football nutters in Australia, then confide and talk to the one's you trust, because half the guys on this forum are more than happy to help however they can. Like these guys have said, your best and most trusted friends in life will not be from school.

I dont normally step into these conversations but given that i am actually genuinly concerned by this sort of thing ill add a little bit to it. None of this requires an actual answer on here KC but may help you see the light a little and help you find your way past this.

- To what ends are you cutting yourself? in other words what are you gaining from it
- Are you in need of attention and if so what is causing you to need this attention
- Is your current situation really that bad when you break it down? You have a sport you love, no doubt friends, family, sustenance and your health. There arent a hell of a lot more necessities than these things
- Most problems during your teenage years are quite temporary and if you are able to focus your energy into the good aspects the negative ones tend to disappear
- Not knowing you personal situation it is difficult to give actual prudent advice but having been someone who has lost colleagues and friends to depression i would suggest you need to speak to someone. There is no shame in seeking help when you are struggling. Sometimes even the calming words of a grandparent or uncle or aunt can be just what you need to see the bigger picture and move forward.
- Most important thing of all is to move forward. I have in only very recent days lost my best friend of 20 years because he couldnt help himself but to attempt to move in on my partner. Although it hurts im moving forward leaving him in my dust and will come out the back a bigger and stronger person. You can do the same no matter what the problem

I don't need help, I'm just (and I quote this from my ex best friends mum) "a manipulative bitch who cuts herself to get what she wants". Because, you know, scars are all I really wanted in life.

KC, i would like to think you know me pretty well on the forums, so what im about to say, dont take it personally, just take it in and hopefully it helps.

Now stop it and shut up and listen. We all here to help you whenever you need, but you need to be willing to accept that help. We are all part of the 442 family and therefore we only going to give advice that would help, because weve been through it and understood it all.

Firstly, women are not the only ones who cut themselves, i know of guys who do it too. I almost became one of those guys, but i listened to the advice i was given and it helped me.

Secondly, if someone who is meant to be your friend is telling everyone, then fuck them, they not really a friend and you shouldnt let it bother. I know, easier said than done, but thats just what has to happen. You dont need to put up with stupid people who dont care for their 'friends'

About time you started looking after yourself and doing things for yourself. Making yourself happy and not focusing on everyone else and their thoughts. Find that thing that makes you happy and use it, it could be music, a place you like to visit, tv series, movie, anything, something that takes you to a happy place and gets you away from all the crap.

Dont care what anyone says or thinks, because its just that, its just thoughts and silly words. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what you do with yourself and what you become, because after you achieve that, those words and thoughts will mean eff all. Your achievement will be far greater than anything they could have ever said or done to make you feel like crap.

Be happy with who you are, acknowledge that you are special and embrace who you are. Everyone is not perfect, but they are awesome. Dont care what stupid bitches have to say or think, you know the truth, and you know you better than that.

Trust me, ive been through it all, the gay jibes, being outcast by everyone, i used to go to parties with my cousin and id end up sitting in the corner by myself, id end up thinking "wtf am i doing here", would then leave and come home and watch football or something, play online games. Yes its sounds very loner, but the longer i kept up the charade the worse it would get and id never get anywhere. Everyone cut me out, they ignored me, they said shit about me, so much so that people in Zimbabwe heard the rumours. I just had to accept who i am and not care about the twats, finally found a group of decent friends. I still get made fun of sometimes for things i like and so on, but fuck it, i dont care.

We all here to help you whenever you need. I cant stress that enough, and i know this thread is for venting, but the forum family will always look to help and will always be here.

WGMG: People who know very well my trophy night is on Saturday and that ticketing is limited, and yet wait till Thursday morning when the tickets are all sold out, to tell me they realized on Monday they could be my date for the night.

Cheers mate, I'm still just trying to process and work through things, so it doesn't help when more is thrown at me.

Im sorry if you feel i threw more at you, not my intention. If i didnt throw more at you...then dont worry, everything will work itself out and it will be fine. just got to keep remembering that opinions by people like that dont matter.
