common courtesy and good customer service would dictate that you let the person use that month when they get back and not charge them for no reason.

with regards to the sleeping thing, i shower every morning and sometimes at night. i think my problem is the fact i often fall asleep with my bedside light on. its been going on for about a year or so. i always fall asleep before i off my light. then i wake up for our morning prayer and go back to sleep with the light off, but the second sleep is only about hour to 2 hours long.

Except you're the one making the choice not to use your phone. They're providing you with an alternative (Being able to switch on International Roaming), and you're not taking it.

That's your choice, and so they have every right to still charge you. It'd be like me not using my phone at all for a month, and then claiming I shouldn't have to pay my bill.
