WGMG: Next door neighbour is renovating his bathroom. His bathroom wall backs onto my bedroom wall. I've had nothing but hammering and angle grinders since Tuesday and haven't slept a wink until today. I get home from work today, tired as shit, it's cold and raining so I go to take a warm shower and the water to my building is off. It hasn't been my week at all.

To be fair, there's just as many people who are parents who start sentences with phrases like "as a parent..." who deserve to be treated thus.

Agree with you on that one afro,but sometimes there are people out there who judge parents straight away without thinking . I know a couple who have a child who has aspbergers , the amount of looks they get or comments frustrates me . My wife's friend have a child who is severely disabled and gets told that child should be put down .

No doubt it's frustrating when they get comments and looks, but at the same time there are so many parents these days that have no sense of discipline or order and to the average joe it probably just looks like another child running amok.

That's absolutely disgusting... Just get in a verbal with him and keep using the word abusive. Either your Mum will realise he's abusive and fuck him off, or all 3 of you will have to sort shit out.
But best thing you can do is keep your head and just keep telling him he's abusive.

If it's really bad, I'd notify the Police. If he's using violence to intimidate your mum, and you, I'd go to them. If they can't do anything, I'd then step in and sort it out yourself.

Play it smart and keep putting yourself in vulnerable positions where you've got clear evidence that he's being abusive. Keep your phone on record in your pocket.

Ask him why he tipped water on your laptop. Let him tie himself up in knots.

I got roped into reffing my clubs allage team on the weekend.

I hate being ref in general, I just hate the whole scenario that there aren't enough refs to have it sorted already. But the whole copping abuse and all that - doesn't phase me. If I cop any of it, I just say in my head "haterz gonna hate" followed by "fxxx the haterz" and then I just keep going about my business.

The game on the weekend was pretty chill, bar one guy on my team who is just generally rash for the sake of being rash, and the only real "abuse" I copped was the other team asking/demanding why I didn't give him a yellow card, before and after I had fully explained to every player in the shake-hands lineup that I didn't have cards and would use my own discretion whether someone deserved either an early shower or a 10 minute breather on the sidelines. I ended up "sending off" the bloke on my team for a second-yellow-worthy challenge, plus afterwards a red-worthy reaction to the guy he league-tackled, but everyone fully understood & my team was happy to play with 10 men. Didn't record a red though, so he'll be free to play this weekend.

I wouldn't mind getting paid to ref tbh, but much prefer playing and don't have the time for both.

It's not worth it, I did it for a year, one of the worst decisions I have ever made.

Given the last couple of major earthquakes you guys have had, I think you can you can understand why people are a bit edgy. I'd be a bit edgy to be honest.
