United are Jealous?? LOL nothing to do with jealousy, just stating the obvious facts that your figures were way off the mark, but we will see you in round 2. p.s you will forever be in our shadows.

see you there!! Most likely due to the SFC vs Melbourne game at the SFS on the 7th. Should be a bigger crowd on a Saturday night at Belmore as well. i heard that as well... but i dont see how it would clash?? nevertheless saturday night should bring in a bigger crowd. SFC play on the 7th - 5pm kick off. Unless you mean it does not clash as fans from Olympic and United are most likely not SFC fans, which is a fair point. Maybe they are worried about the game getting lost in the 'hype' around the SFC - Melb game, which it most likely will except for die-hards.

Zdrilic hungry for more success in 2010 24.02.10 16:04 Sydney United Player/Manager David Zdrilic (centre) in action in the 2009 NSW Premier League season The heartache of last year’s Semi-Final capitulation has left Sydney United hungry for glory. David Zdrilic is the man in charge of guiding the Reds one step further in 2010, hoping to erase the scars of a devastating end to 2009 that saw United bow out of the finals series after winning the Premiership. ‘‘We were definitely good enough to go all the way,’’ Zdrilic said. ‘‘But you have to take a lot of pride out of finishing first by seven points and only losing four games all year.’’ Despite the wounds still proving painful to overcome for the boys from Edensor Park, Zdrilic insists version two of United’s premiership assault won’t be marred by the scars of last year. ‘‘We’re not dwelling on last year,’’ he said. ‘‘We have some fresh faces, a fresh outlook and some new motivation.’’ United have built on their impressive player roster, welcoming the likes of Steve Hayes, Michael Cindric, Peter Zorbas and Shane Lyons to Sydney United Sports Centre. The Reds will open their campaign this Sunday against competition new boys Rockdale City Suns, the first opportunity for the Reds to stamp their authority on the NSW Premier League. ‘‘At Sydney United we always set our goals very high and it has been that way since I started at this club,’’ Zdrilic said. "We’re used to winning and being on top and I expect nothing less than a grand final this season.’

Have to agree with David. Nothing less than a GF appearance will do. After the capitulation last season another failure just won't do.

If we had converted those GF appearances into wins we would be one of the most successful clubs in Australian footballing history. Really should have won in 88. That was the one that really got away.

CROWD LOOKS TO BE OVER 3000 AT THIS STAGE CROWD LOOKING AT AROUND 3500 CROWD WILL BE OVER 3500
Certain clubs doing big things in the NSW PL, needs to have national recognition whne you can pull these types of crowds with no media u are a real club! would love to see the state competition pulling crowds over 3000 with no media attention. Especially when GCU could only get a little over 4 in some big matches. But I really dont see those type of crowds. Sorry.

I luv the way 2-3k fans go to a state game - pay cash as there are no card facililies and 500 tickets seem to be sold - cask is KING and also fits nicely in the back pocket of these clubs
Keep it up:cool:

At Belmore Sports Ground, 2010 champions Sutherland Sharks suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sydney Olympic in-front of a healthy crowd. Sydney Olympic withstood the early pressure from the Sharks before taking control of the match after the half-time break. Goals to Matthew Mayora and Chris Triantis ensured the Blues secured a first-up win for new boss Pat Morando, in a season where expectation around the club is very high following the disappointments of 2009.

Following the match, Sydney Olympic striker Matthew Mayora expressed his delight with the win:
“It was a good win for us.
“First-half we were a bit scrappy but in the second-half I thought we played some really great football so it is great to start the season with a win. It was good to be at home in front of a big crowd as well.’’
