Resigned from Iran cause i was losing interest with them, not a fan of international coaching tbh. Sitting 2nd still with about 10 games to go, things are getting pretty tight now. Made FA Cup quarter finals where i met Aston Villa. Was 2-1 up wiht 10 to go and they got a goal to make it 2-2. With 25 seconds of injury time left they scored from halfway. Stupid goalie was off his line

My main aim for Newcastle this season is to get a good high mid table position. 25 games have been played already and Europe Qualification looks unlikely.

Q: A lot of my players are dismayed at lack of team harmony. Anything i can do about it?

A:
Figure out why people are pissed and try to fix it.
Do better as a team.
Sell them.

Squad harmony is basically an overall percentage of how happy each specific player is.

If you have players who (I'll put in italic what you pretty much can do about it):

Want to leave. Transfer List them. Set their value to whatever you are willing to sell them for. If they don't get any offers, eventually you will get a news item about them which has "wants to stay at the club" in it. Then take them off the transfer list and offer new contract if they are holding out.

Want to move to a bigger club. Same as above.

Want a new challenge. As above.

Wants a New Contract/Wants to commit future to club. New contract. Promises won't make them happy. You have to offer them the new contract.

Dislike a player (takes too serious/not serious enough/attitude is bad/provokes disharmony). Not much you can do. It will either work itself out, or you might find mini-cliques spring up in the team with 2 or 3 hating 1 guy, and that guy and his mates hating on the first 1-3. Or sell someone.

Dislike a staff member. (rare, not sure if it's around anymore). Wait for it to work out, or fire/sell one or the other.

Lack of discipline. When a player is sent off or misbehaves, you need to warn them. That is sufficient to get rid of this. However you may want to pull out the 1/2 week fines for especially bad conduct.

Think you are too harsh on them (with fines). You only need to give warnings. Reserve fines for especially harsh behaviour. It probably can't happen now, but excessive fining in the older version can lead to you being sacked. You might still get a word from the board if you do it regularly in FM09.

Not giving credit to the team or thinks you are too harsh on the team (teamtalks). Don't say "Angry" to the team when 4-0 up. Use common sense in team talks. Avoid excessive "Despite the win you were awful" or "Why can't you play like this every week".

Squad Bonuses. Are a cheap way to make a player happy. Always set to high. No matter what happens, unless you are exceptionally strapped for cash, the money you lose from a high payout is nothing. Even winning the Champions League, the bonus is like 5 million when you can make 15 million just from the group stage prize money, let alone the KO stages all the extra gate receipts tv money. NEVER set to low. You will never hear the end of your team bitching until the next season.

Feels he should be a first team regular. Should he be a first team regular? This is probably the hardest to fix when they have no real reason to be a first team member, you pretty much either have to drop their squad status and hope they recognise, sell them, or start playing them.

This is an especially bad one because there is zero interaction that you can do to say to a player why they are dropped. You can't say "Well, I gave you 3 games, you got sent off then gave up a penalty then scored and own goal that lost us our Derby match." They just don't realise if you give them the chance and they fucked it up. Could trying loaning them.

Thinks you have brought them to the club under false pretences. This is basically buying someone then trying to sell them straight away or fining or trying to free transfer them. Just play them as normal player.

I've probably missed a few statuses (some are downright bizzare and rare), things like a player disliking themself, a player being homesick or depressed, being subbed early, so use common sense.

If you have players unhappy, then harmony will drop. When it gets low enough, you start getting players being "dismayed" by it, which can cause more problems.

The problem is that for almost all of the "unhappy" status, they are laughably easy to trigger, but can be hard to stop once the player has them.

I once signed a right winger a free transfer at the start of a season in the championship. About halfway through the season I played him quite often in the first team due to injuries.

One media item about Coventry (who were 4 places above mine in mid-table) being interested in him, I issue a hands off warning.

Within 2 days of the media item he became:
Unsettled.
Feels it may be time to move on (what? after 6 months?)
Feels he needs to leave to further his career. (To where? Coventry? Neither team is going to get promoted barring a miracle)
Considering his options.

The new challenge and bigger club ones are equally ridiculous. I needed to sort out my harmony one season, transfer listed and sold 5 players who all had "bigger club" unhappiness. 4 of them went to 2nd division mid-table english (I was a 2nd division mid-table team then as well) or Spanish sides, and one went to Rangers who weren't interested at all until I offered him out.

I had a horrific time dealing with Harmony from the time I was in League 1 and the Championship. I was pretty much buying half a team every transfer window because I had to sell half a dozen players who though they were bigshots.

Fuck that was a big post.

My squad harmony is SEVEN PERCENT so I need to fix things up. I think its generally to do with the clubs horrible finances and perhaps this new guy I signed who everybody hates. Should be better next year, as long as I dont crash and get the team promoted

'reckon my squad harmony ain't too great either. And yeh mack the same sorta thing happened to me with my gun winger. He was injured and wanted more game time :? I was playing him when he returned from injury and then out of the blue he wanted a transfer. The good thing in the long run however was that this was when I was at Inter, and he ended up going to Newcastle, where I am now lol I have 3 players (so far :twisted:) that were in my Inter team at one stage. Gun winger, Federico Laurito (Inter, Barca, Newcastle) and Morgan Schneiderlin who the coach who replaced me wasn't playing him! He's one of the best in the team. I would know :twisted:

Things starting to fall apart at Plymouth. Team is playing horribly. With only 4 games to go Im just hoping that Scunthorpe drop a few points and I can hold on to 2nd. In this kind of form I would NEVER make it through the playoffs.

Have your team settings somehow erased themselves imno? In my Reading save my team that had been free scoring and dominating by several goals went to grinding out narrow results and draws and I discovered that for some reason my very attacking settings had dissapeared and everything was set as ultra defensive

Have a few players with concerns of feeling the public pressure, is there anything i can do for this

Haha nah thats not happened. I've just been fucked over with injuries.

Firstly, the RB on loan from Stoke broke his wrist, so I sent him back to get fixed up cause he would only make the last 2 games if lucky.
Then, Paulo Jorge picked up a 3 weeker, as did Mantorras (ST and CB).

Now, Kelly Youga is suspended (LB) so Im FUCKED on the backline. My whole backline is makeshift. All the green dots are dull green, nobody is playing in their preferred position.

Im trying to grind out results away from home but its failing. My squad harmony is fucked and im having real trouble winning. Im 2 points in front of Scunny with 5 games to go. I honestly dont think I can hold on. At least Mantorras and Youga should be back for the next game, and Jorge not far behind those two.

Scunthorpe also have 2 away games in a row coming up so hopefully they drop points there. I've all but given up on first place. Im tempted to try a new tactic but not sure if its a good idea.

imno my last month and a half was the most hectic scehdule imaginable, I played four games in eight days at one stage and picked up so many injuries plus unbeknonst to me the settings were changed at one stage I couldnt field any wingers so had to change formations but wouldnt recomend it at all

433 absolutely kills every other team in my Leeds game, last season played half the season at 442 and was sitting 23rd, switched to 433 with about 10 games to go and came 16th, this year im coming 2nd with only Blackburn ahead, only thing is that all my wingers havent been very happy

He's decent. I'd put him in the reserves. He's only 16 and you don't want him getting battered in the first team. Wait till he is about 17/18 before you play him regularly.

Phew. Scored a 92nd min winner to beat Carlisle. Thoroughly deserved though.

Unfortunately I got THREE FUCKING INJURIES AS WELL, including my best Striker, and best AMC. FML.

Yeah. Keep him reserves this season, till he's 17, then send him out on loan. If he's matured well by 18, start blending him into the First Team squad.
