My Exeter side just won the Premier League on the final day after beating Arsenal away - coming back from 2 goals down to win 3-2.

You need to have at least 100mb free for it to be able to save. I'd also recommend doing a 'save as' instead of just a direct save.

Tried to start a dafuge challenge style game last night (not exactly the same, I set another 6 or 7 nations as 'viewable'). Decided on Cambridge City.
Had some good friendly results, brought in a backroom, won 2, drew 2 in our first 4... then we went on a 14 game losing streak. I got tired of it, holidayed to the end of the season, finished 2nd last, only won 5 more games.
Have absolutely no idea how people manage to get back to back promotions from the start.
2nd attempt much better. A worse team actually, with Chippenham being the team this time around.
Eventually nailed down a 442 rigid defensive low mentality tactic, as well as constantly bringing in better players as I found them. The team gelled, we kept climbing, and we finish in 19th :salute: Last game of the season 6-3 loss hah, but we'd secured 19th the game before so it didn't matter.
Interestingly, the Chairman already wanted to leave, so we suffered through a couple of takeover bids, neither of which went through.

I had my first board takeover with Atletico Madrid. Fortunately it was in the off-season so nothing much was effected since I had all my transfers all done and dusted.

Does everyone else change Tactics/Formations as much as I do? I'm into my 14th season with Bristol Rovers, and I've changed T/F atleast 4 times.
Started with a standard Diamond 4-4-2.
Then moved to a 4-2-3-1, like so: ------ST------- AML---AMC---AMR -------.------- ----DM---DM---- LB--DC---DC--RB -------GK------
Then made a slight change to that, with the AMC pulling back to become a Box to Box CM.
And we now play another variation of the 4-2-3-1, like so: --------ST------- AML----AMC----AMR ---------MC------ -----DM---------- LB---DC---DC---RB --------GK-------
But even this formation I'm not really settled on. If FM allowed you to play a DM as a Box to Box Midfielder, it'd be perfect, and I'd probably go back to the original 4-2-3-1. Either way, I've already begun planning the formation I'm going to try and create once I've turned this Bristol side into World Beaters.
LF-------------RF -------AMC------- -----CM---CM----- WBL-----------WBR -----CB---CB----- -------SW-------- -------GK--------
I've never used a Sweeper, Wing Backs or LF/RF before. I've always been intrigued by the LF/RF position, I barely see it used in FM, but I think I could make it work.

I change formations on a game-to-game basis. I prefer 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, but I regualrly play 4-4-2 and a 4-4-2 diamond. Also played 4-6-0 with Australia against teams that were heavily superior. Got me out of my group at the WC against Spain.
It's now 2013 and George Hicks is finally looking to step aside from Liverpool. Thank fuck. Can you say "Clearing of excessive debts"?

I swear to god, every club I have managed has been through a takeover. Never been sacked from it though.
Although in this current takeover, it is said the manager wants to replace me with a player I signed when managing Ipswich  Ultimate burn if it happens.

Interesting. I see changing formation from match to match as having more negatives than positives. I prefer a stable formation, with varying tactics depending on wether I'm home or Away.

If a team has weak CB's I'll play 4-3-3 with two inside forwards, etc. It comes down to the adaptability of your players. If you've got decent team chemistry and most of your players have good adaptability then it's not much of an issue.

I generally stick to a formation. I pretty much only play 442, 4231 or 433.

So far in my leeds save (up to 2016/17 season), I have only ever used a 41212 diamond formation and just change the tactics pending on who I am playing. I tried using wingbacks in another save but it just didnt work - mind you I didnt really spend much time on it either...

2nd season going okay. About halfway in we are on 29 points, 9 clear of the drop zone. Managed to really strengthen the team, in pretty much every area, except keeper.
Basically have at least 3 stars (with half the team being 4 or 5 stars) in the assistant team report, but the keepers were both half a star :/
Ended up scouting all 161 keepers the assistant thought were realistic targets, found a guy, luckily as we lost both existing keepers to injuries, he's still only 1.5 stars in the report.
If we pick up another 3 or 4 wins in the 2nd half of the season we should survive comfortably.

GRHGSDFQAG! Back with my Rubin Kazan game, finally, and after a great little run of 4 wins and a draw, I come up against Spartak Moscow. Now last time out I was single handedly fucked over by Welliton, now it's someone elses turn! Dario Conca, an Argie midfielder scored a hat-trick, all from 25 yards or more. 2 from free-kicks and one from general play. I have never been so utterly frustrated at the incompetence of my players to deal with that. I think however, I've finally settled on a starting line-up after much invention and shuffling around. I'm going with a 4-4-2 Rhzhikov Khagush - Orcem-Ceko - Nakhushev - Everton Ribeiro Kasaev - Song - Cicero - Gatagov Smolov - Dominguez Unfortunately my top scorer, a target man, had an offer the club couldn't refuse and he got transferred out to a club that I'm currently ABOVE in the league. Not to mention that every club in Europe is after my fucking starting eleven. I'm still trawling for good Russian players, but they're few and far between; particularly the ones that actually want to join my club. It's pretty tough going at the moment but I'm sure I'll at least get into Europe this season. Currently in 5th spot. Edited by cynikles: 30/9/2010 12:52:34 AM

If you're going to use center tags, you should probably spell 'center' the right way :P

Spoke too soon. Of course.
We kept losing over and over, nothing I did worked, got sick and bored of it, went on holiday for the last 8 or so games, ended up relegated by 3 points.
We won 8 or so games in the first half of the season, then about 2 in the 2nd. Just doesn't make sense. The squad didn't change. The other teams didn't change. Yet, the team self-destructed.
I'm gonna go play Civ instead until FM2011 comes out.

I have half a mind to sack my whole defence after their latest performance.
I was sitting pretty at 2-0 away against Zenit (currently 2nd on the table) and after the break it all falls to shit. Untracked long balls find their men and I lose the fucking game 5-3. I managed to take the lead again after they drew 2-2 to make it 3-2, but then my defence decided to have a tea break. Now the whinging buggers are complaining because I discplined them for having a bad performance. Utter bollocks.

Why didn't you drop your defensive line deeper so they couldn't hit the balls over the top.

Defending deep doesn't work so well when they have tall strikers that are good at heading. I just keep getting pinged by crosses and I get hit by wonderstrikes outside the box. My defence isn't fantastic, but I am looking to remedy that.
But, my defence did it again, this time to a relegation threatened club. Up 3-0 in the first 40 minutes, FC Moscow nick one before the break. I applaud my teams efforts, and what do they do? They lose 4-3 in one of the most ridiculous comebacks I've ever seen in my entire life. Yet again my defence fell asleep with my full-backs having to shoulder most of the blame, whom I yet again discplined, whom yet again had a fucking whinge about it. And to wrap it up in a neat package, I dominated the entire game and I was at home. Fuck you very much defenders.
Thanks to that I'm now in 6th with 6 to go. 2 of those games being my fiercest rivals and CSKA Moscow. I need to get into Europe consarnit!

Did you shut your game down and start it back up again. I have found that saving the game and then restarting it has led to a rather large downturn in form

The long and slow process of turning Bristol Rovers into World Champions continues. Just finished the 2022/23 season, finished 11th, which is the clubs highest ever placing. Can pretty confidently say we're an EPL side now, so now to consolidate on this and push for a european spot in the next 2/3 years. Almost made it into Europe this season actually, Carling Cup semi, we were leading Everton with about 15 seconds to go, only to concede. Would have faced Liverpool in the Final, who finished 2nd. Dissapointing, but oh well.
Only major concern is that we don't really score a lot of goals. This season gone we only scored 36 league goals, and the season before that we only scored 28. Our defence is strong though, so we manage to get through.
