afromanGT wrote:I didn't realise you had that player taking penalties as well. That makes things a little different  He's isn't. He ain't Kevin Muscat. The game will sometimes given a penalty to a player on a hat-trick. Like in this case. He just secured a 2-1 comeback win over 2nd placed Man City. His league stats are: 21 apps - 16 Goals, 2 Assists, 8 Motm, 8.02 AvR. His League + CL + Cups: 32 Apps - 25 Goals, 2 Assists, 10 MoM, 8.14 AvR. I don't know why he's just so good compared to the other guys I had on this tactic before. Maybe a combination of his 17 pace, positioning and off the ball maybe. took Vitesse to the Dutch Championship and Dutch Cup double. Got halfway through the next season, knocked out of UCL and Dutch cup, 8th in the league, resigned. Took over Stoke City in League 1 (2 consecutive relegations) who were 12th after 10 games. Currently 1st january, got Stoke back up to 2nd and unbeaten since i took over. Confident of getting back to the Premiership in 2 seasons.

 Manchester United just approached me offering 120k/week, 130m budget and 3.4m/week wages.
What the fuck is with players RAISING their demands when negotiating a contract. So infuriating.

Injuries :S Had 9 recently, with 4 long-term.
Just kept my unbeaten run going by salvaging a 1-1 draw away at Tottenham with a 92nd minute equaliser that broke a 10 hour goal drought.

Finally lose in the league, 33 game unbeaten run ends.
All it took was having my striker injured, the replacement striker injured, and then my right back after I'd used my last sub replacing the striker. (first sub was used at ht on a poor condition player).

Having troubles with my tactic at Lazio. Just not working as well as I'd liked. I'm coming third and doing ok, but I seem to be losing the midfield way too easily. And I'm not sure what to do about it. Any thoughts?

There's two options for doing well in italy: 1) play a rigid formation with a controlled, slow, short passing build-up in the 'united style' 4-3-3 formation, with a defensive midfielder with high creativity and passing. 2) control the opposition with a flat back four and play directly to a target man up front. Trequartista's are king if you're going to do that, so play 4-2-3-1 with two DM's.

Nantwich - Premiership 2033/2034 Media Prediction - 3rd out of 20th. Actual Position - 1st. Premiership Retained - Carling Cup Won - FA Cup Winner - Knocked out in 1st KO Stage of CL. Again. This year was the 150th year Nantwich have been in existence, and we celebrated it rather well. Not really much to say. Brought in a couple players, used the same tactic, did really well. Went on a long unbeaten streak. Won the Carling Cup vs Arsenal on Penalties. Won the FA Cup by smashing Arsenal 5-1. Lost in the 1st KO stage of the CL to Lyon (Again). Have made two tough decisions. I'm selling Cesar the 29yo Brazilian AML who has been at the club for 12 years, to a german side for 10 million, and Strano, 29 Argentine ST to Inter for 21 million. I've never been a big fan of keeping players beyond 30.. I probably could've kept Strano for another year, but I think it was definitely Cesar's time to move. Stadium loan of £5.75m (38.5k per month). 1 year left on that. Bank loan of £2.2m (9.25k per month) from the chairman leaving. 19 years left. Club Chairman Loan of £24.5m (156k per month) 11 years. Club Chairman Loan of £18.5m (118k per month) 12 years. Club Chairman Loan of £16.75 (106k per month) 13 years. Squad Player Year Achievements: Alejandro Strano - FWA Footballer of the Year, EPL Golden Boot, PFA Team of the Year. Cesar - PFA Team of the Year, PFA Team of the Year Sub. Alejandro Gutierrez - PFA Team of the Year. Angel - FifaFifPro World XI, FWA World Footballer of the Year 3rd, PFA Team of the Year. Abranches - Uefa Goalkeeper of the Year 2nd, PFA Team of the Year. Rodrigo - FifaFifPro World XI, FWA Footballer of the Year 2nd, PFA Team of the Year. Adnan Basak - FifaFifPro World XI Sub, Uefa Forward of the Year 3rd, PFA Player of the Year 3rd.

Gah. All over spurs at White Hart Lane. Just before half time they send a hopeful ball into the box, but its heading for a group of my players, and they have no one to get to it. Of Course, this means my players are apparently not watching the ball at all, because it hits one of them, and goes in for an OG. What a load of shit.

Left backs are always hard to find. Ansaldi, Motta, Renan are always solid.

Ansaldi is good, but givne that I've only got 3 'foreign' players allowed in my team and Vidal, Thiago Silva and Hernandez already take up those spots... I've already got Renan playing RB. Maybe I should sign a new RB...but they're just as difficult to find quality in. It's either Cassani, Santon or nothing pretty much.

Hmm. Zuniga is a good RB in my game, but wont solve the foreign player problem.
Jordan Spence usually turns out good, and is English. Azpilicueta?
I had a great LB at Twente, Dodo. But he's Brazillian too.

I got bored with my Athletico game so I start a new one with Redditch in the Blue Square North. The first season I stripped the club bare of every single player and assistant/coach/scout and sorted through the free transfers for players we could afford and would play for the club. Despite having a horrible goalkeeper and horrible defenders we only conceded 37 goals in our 38 league games which allowed us to scrape into the promotion playoffs despite only scoring 41 goals. We won the home tie 1-0 before losing away 2-0. The second season I signed some better quality centre backs and midfielders, as well as Michael Ricketts, who made a huge improvement to my attack. Ricketts formed a great partnership up front with a forward I signed in the first season which resulted in Ricketts scoring 19 goals and my other striker getting 34. I have just started the third season in newly promoted in the Blue Square Premier League and have in the first three games defied the media's predictions of us coming last, as well as my own early expectations, with a stunning start to the season winning 2-1 against York (predicted second), 3-1 against Cheltenham (predicted 3rd) and 6-1 against Grimsbytown (1st).

I love the commentary "There's pandemonium in the stands after Rickett's score" when my club only averages 130 people crowds and there is only three well spaced people in the stands jumping up and down.

I've managed redditch before but it was years ago. Curiously, I picked up Ricketts too...but this was back in about 08 though. Picked up a CM from Aberdeen who was super too. The big focus at that level is having a better attack than anyone else.

Took over Lazio, and in my first season, there is an epic ending to the season. But first...
Started well enough, brought in a LB and an AML at the start of the season, but left myself short of cover at the back and it cost me. Kept shipping late goals and couldn't find a formation that worked. Tried a whole heap of different ones but it wouldnt work. That said, I still entered January in about 3rd or 4th. Brought in a great DC, a tank DM and a great striker to help out and went through some great form. Now, going into the last round:
Lazio 75 Inter 74 AC 74 Roma 73
Absolutely nuts. Just have to get the 3pts at home to Udinese to win the title :)

Lots of movement in the off season. Sold my starting LB, as well as my starting MR in Amrabat for 12mil, and Zarate for 22mil because he wanted to go.
Replaced Zarate with Lukaku for 20mil, replaced Amrabat with Jesus Navas, and signed Zuniga at the back. Also got Granero for a steal at 1.9mil.
A lot of work was done adding depth to the squad after that.
atm the XI is:
-------Acquafresca---Lukaku------- ----------------Granero------------ Zezinho---------------------Navas ---------------Fernando------------ Radu----Zapata---Ecuele----Zuniga ---------------Muslera-------------
Lots of quality substitutes in Gargano, Varela, Hernanes, Floccari as well as a few others.
Won the Italian Super Cup over Fiorentina, 3-2 thanks to a 118th minute Varela goal.
Drew UCL of:
Real Ajax Lazio Saturn.
Pretty happy with that. Wins over Saturn and Ajax so far, and a thumping by Real.

Nantwich - Premiership 2035/2036 Media Prediction - 2nd out of 20th. Actual Position - 1st. Premiership Retained - Carling Cup Retained - FA Cup Won - Champions League Won. Challenge Complete This season was amazing. The team never let me down, they kept coming back, in all competitions we never lost a competitive match (only losing the league after we won the title, and only lost in the CL after we'd already secured the 1st place in the Group Stage). Financially we are in the crapper still, and we require constant financial injections from the Chairman. We just won everything and we still ended the year 6 million in the red. The team is also getting old. We've got a couple of 27 year olds, with the rest being 29/30/31. I've got talent coming through, but we'll need to focus heavily on rebuilding the team in the next few years. Liverpool got taken over by a Qatari tycoon as well, meaning there will be more competition for the best players. Where to go from here? I'd like to take up an international job as well. I think we're down to 4 seasons before a new stadium. Squad Player Year Achievements: Angel - Fifa World 11, UEFA Defender of the Year, PFA Player of the Year 3rd, PFA Team of the Year, Champions League Dream Team.
