Garcia = middling, kinda shit player who doesn't offer much. Macca = Top class striker, isn't shit, can win games against the biggest opposition.

yeap agree - went to Pim Verbeeks talk in Perth where he discussed how clubs have treated him as the Socceroos coach. He was not happy about Gordon Strachan and let the story out then about how Rhys had been treated. Its a disgrace - young players need guidance - the manager of all should take this responsibility seriously - as a result Rhys and AUstralia are the ones to suffer. Our loss!

Good choices, Williams was only ever going to play with pain killers, wouldn't do the team or himself any favours.

who knows really. all i know is that this kids dream has been shattered because of incompetent medical teams/managers of which our players are constantly victim to.

Good squad good selection. The only problem is that we have an over reliance on Kennedy, hopefully this is the last world cup where we are forced to rely on a lone (tall/strong) forward to hold the ball up. Would love to see the clever through balls played through to the likes of ruka & co in the next campaign. This reliance on a big "hoof" up to Kennedy or formerly Dukes has got to stop.

I feel really sorry for Rhys as I really rate him. I hope that turd Strachan is happy. I hope both Rhys and Shane Lowry are in the Asian Cup squad.

Would much rather see Oar in over Garcia. Garcias solid but hardly going to change the game.

Have to agree with CoolCat, the medical standards seem to be a bit dodgy when it comes to sporting injuries. How often do players come home to recieve decent medical treatment. Would have been stoked to see Williams included but he is no good not fully fit. As peviously mentioned he'll get another shot. Sort of still trying to get my head around the fact that Macca was not included, ah well we have what we have.

Its unfortunate when Managers sumtimes treat their charges like pieces of meat. Am sure Rhys will have no feelings of loyalty when a bigger contract comes in from another club down the track. Rhys will play many internationals for the green and gold.

pretty sure rhys williams on his death bed would be better than brett holman. should be playing 4 3 1 2 with cahill, kewell n kennedy that way macca could play if kewell aint fit.

Kind of getting sick of hearing about Oar and Holland as if theyre the only youngsters, seems to be popping up often. Lowry is 20 and Williams 21, all four could easily make the next couple of world cups and all four will benefit from the experience regardless - thats what Pim seems to be saying. Shame about the injury for Williams though.

Great call Fever. I'm very impressed with Pim's selections and his open dialogue and justified reasons for all decisions. Perhaps for some of you Pim haters, it'll take a year or two of pretty played 2/3 losses under a new coach before you realise how good he is/was with our national team. If Australia make the second round Pim should rightfully be respected higher than Hiddink for all he has done for us.

Oh yeah... some guy who also has had consistent problems with injuries is being included. I think his name is Kewell or something?

FIFA require 3 keepers to be in the list of 23 players.

Garcia is a proven goalscorer in the Premiership and the closest thing we will get to a second striker...he and Cahill will share that role and make no mistake Garcia will get game time.
